Starting my seventh week out today. Yesterday was my fist day of regular foods after three weeks on soft foods. Everything went just fine! When I was on soft foods, most of the time I could not get in even 3 oz. at a time. Yesterday I had no trouble getting in 4 oz. per meal. No problems at all and had a perfect, normal bowel movement this morning. Now I am off my afternoon protein drink. i am looking forward to adding bread and rice but that is not until August 12th! It does get easier, so don't worry. Just eat what you can and don't push it if you can't.

10 weeks in an nausea all the time? Help
SleeveDreamer replied to Heavyduty1966's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What does your doctor say? I don't think you should be that nauseous at 10 weeks and you shuld be able to eat at least 6oz per meal. I don't know what a florascope is. I am going into my seventh week and starting regular foods on Monday and I am happy to say I have only thrown up twice when something was stuck. Have you tried chewing three papaya enzymes after ypu eat? It helps your food from getting stuck and helps with digestion. They are perfectly safe. -
3 weeks out and weight gain
SleeveDreamer replied to meaghan_rny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The weight gain may be from you gaining pounds of body mass. But at the same time you are losing percentage of body fat. This is normal and should happen. There is no way you won't lose weight. Don't be really concerned aboiut the numbers on the scale. You should be able to tell you are losing by your clothes. Although at three weeks out, you may still have a lot of bloat in yur abdomen. Don't worry! It will come off! -
Wow what a terrible thing to deal with. I hope everything is fine now and your pain subsides quickly.

Carbonated (Sparkling) Water, yes or no?
SleeveDreamer replied to biancan2ckyw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am allowed NO carbonation! It can expand your pouch. I don't like plain water either so I use either Crystal Light or Mio flavoring. Or I have decaf ice tea. -
Stage II Post op ?
SleeveDreamer replied to Franko's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on clear liquids for one week then full liquids for two weeks. Is that the stage you are referring to? Then I started soft foods for three weeks. My doctor and NUT do not have a pureed stage. Now I start on regular foods Monday the start of my seventh week. -
That is called dumping. Most likely from the sugar in the wine. Unfortunately after bypass, you should really avoid sugar to prevent dumping, but I think you may be allowed to have up to 12--15 g without worry. Sorry you had that experience.

Use a pillow under you, behind you, or just hold one on top of your belly. You would be surprised how much it helps! You can even try to sleep on your side better with a pillow under. Don't worry, it won't be that lomg!

This is incorrect. In RNY the exess stomach and pyoric valve are left intact. The RNY is fully reversible.

They do not remove the rest of the stomach in RNY. It is left inside with the pyloric valve. RNY is reversible, but normally is not necessary to do a reversal.

Pain after surgery, should I call about meds?
SleeveDreamer replied to PhillyEagles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not experience any pain whatsoever, but I would assume that he would call in a prescription for you as long as you need it so you could be comfortable. -
Who had surgery in May 2017
SleeveDreamer replied to Yesenia2016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine June 12. Only one more week of soft foods then next Monday regular foods. -
It says to spray a skillet and preheat and then remove from microwave and place in skillet for a couple minutes. My dumb skillet not hot enough. My husband got out my small cast iron one last night so I am going to have one of he pieces for breakfast and trying that. It will definitely get hotter.

Struggling Eating at 8 Weeks

It's not a problem. He just said if I need to spread it out, eat protein when I do. -
Struggling Eating at 8 Weeks
SleeveDreamer replied to KellyC198787's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT started me at 4 oz each meal starting with soft foods until the 24th. She does not have a pureed stage. Went right from full liquids to soft. Then I go up to 6 oz on 7/24. Sometimes I can get 4 oz in depending on what I am eating. Like I said if I can't get it in all at once, spread out throughout the day as long as I don't go over 12 oz a day right now. Then next week when I start 6 oz with regular food, I cut out my afternoon protein drink. She said for the first week on regular, I will probably be only able to do 4, but then a couple hours later have a piece of cheese. I remember this when I was sleeved and I didn't have any problem with regular foods. Yesterday I had a great dqy and got 4 oz in at all three meals. -
Stall & Gain -How??
SleeveDreamer replied to snapy17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are most likely gaining pounds of body mass while at the same time losing percentage of body fat. I had my second post op last week and I only lost two pounds on his scale, but gained four pounds of body mass and lost 4% of body fat. This is normal and good! It boosts your metbaolism. Can you notice inches lost in your clothes? Don't worry about what the scale says. There is no way you won't lose eight. It will keep coming off but the numbers my not reflect on your scale. -

I had mine June 12 and still cannot get in 4 oz per meal. So i eat what I can and then an hour or so later I may have an ounce of cheese or some type of protein. The doctor said if I can't get it in, not to force it and try again the next day! -

Feeling something stuck in my throat
SleeveDreamer replied to thebabeupproject's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try chewing three Papaya Enzymes after you eat if you feel something stuck. They help break it up and with the digestion. I had that happen a couple of times. You get the slimes which is a stringy trail of saliva that you keep spitting up. The doctor says Papaya Enzymes are perfectly safe to take. Try smaller bites and chewing evn more than you are too. -
Having trouble with vitamins
SleeveDreamer replied to mrsroyale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I switched to the Bariatric Advantage multi that has everything but calcium so I don't have to take so many. They are chewable. Then the only other one I need to take and chew is their chewable calcium, since you can't take that at the same time as the others anyway. Soo I got down from about six to only these two. -
Gaining weight!!!
SleeveDreamer replied to MrsVampire's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you notice inches lost in your clothes? Don't go by what the scales say. You will and should gain pounds of body mass and at the same time lose percentage of body fat. You will not lose if you starve yourself. You need food and protein for your metabolism. -
Don't let what the scales say get you down. You are most likely gaining pounds of muscle mass while at the same time, losing percentage of body fat. This is good. You should notice your loss in inches in your clothes. You won't lose on the scale everyday. Try waiting and weighing only once a week for awhile.

When, oh when will I be able to sleep on my side again?
SleeveDreamer replied to alcn1derlnd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It won't take that long. Try using a pillow underneath the side you are trying to sleep on. That's what I did and it reqlly helped. -
I agree that a pillow really helped me behind my back. I also used one across my abdomen whenever I was sitting and sleeping. I am still holding one on my abdomen when I sleep. I am sitting up more when I sleep against a backrest and a pillow and the use of the pillow justs seems more comfy right now. It will get better each day. And before you kmow it, you won't even think about it.

Yes I just made it a few minutes ago and it tastes great! I would like the crust a little crisper though and you put in a preheated skillet for ancouple minutes to acheive that, but I need a new skillet! Otherwise tastes great! And half is 25g protein!
