    Helpppp

Make sure you are drinking something every 2 hours. And in bewteen that drink water. Don't forget that sf jello or sf opsicles are considered liquids to. Maybe they will make you think they are more of a food. it is hard to do, but it is worth it., the pre-op liquid diet helps decrease the size of your liver before surgery. You can do it! It will be worth it, trust me!

    Post-Op Cravings And Discouraged!

I found that the more rtd protein drinks I drank each day took away any cravings.
  3. Try to drink the ready to drink protein drinks. they are considered liquid and in my opinion taste much better than the powdered. before my surgery I bought a big tub of unjury chicken broth and chocolate protein powder and couldn't stand either and dumped them. But I liked the rtd ones. they have Premier Portien drinks at Costco in chocolate and vanilla that taste really good. This way you will stay hydreated as well as get in alot of protein. Try to sip ALL day long on water. Room temp will be more comfortable than ice cold at first. try mio flavoring in it so you don't get bored with the water. Don't forget that sf popsicles and sf jello are considered liquids too. hope you feel better soon.

    I Need Your Help !

You are on normal foods at 6 weeks?, But at 6 weeks you should not be on bread yet. So for bfast I usually have a Jimmy dean turkey sausage link, about 2 oz. cottage cheese, scrambled egg (but can't eat it all), and a few red grapefruit sections from the jar. For lunch my fave is either Starkist sandwich ready albacore tuna in the pouch (3.5 oz.), divided onto 2 wasa crispbread crackers with 1/2 slice meunster cheese on each and stick under broiler to melt chees, or turkey deli meat with mustard and a 1/2 slice meunster cheese and a bread n butter stacker pickle slice, rolled up without bread. ( 2 of these). then for dinner I have lean meat, chicken, (I am not a fish eater other than shellfish) or shrimp and I usually make a green veggie but can't ever eat it. i usually have 4 oz. of Protein first at dinner, and not hungry for the rest of whatever on my plate. Snacks are mozzarella cheese stick or lite babybel cheese round, or a yogurt (I can't stand greek yogurt), or a rice cake with a little bit of Peanut Butter, or a handful of almonds. I do not eat bread even though it doesn't bother me because I don't want to get full on it and I keep my carbs very low. I am 6 months and still find it hard to get in 800 calories a day. You will need to concentrate on your protein and eat it first. You may not be able to eat over 4 oz. yet at 6 weeks, but make sure you get the protein in first. I still have at least one rtd Protein Drink a day that has about 23g. I also drink about a gallon of mio flavored Water each day. Good luck to you!

CHAP STICK! While on ice chips and just liquids, the area around your mouth and lips gets very dry.

Whats Better Sleeve Or Ru En Y?

Melissa, I had nissen flundiplication in 1999. In December 2011 at the same time I was sleeved, the doctor repaired what the doctor did wrong in 1999. FYI, the fundiplication only is effective for about 7 years, and the stomach has a tendency to "ride up" through the diaphragm.. Don't know if you knew that or not. My VSG doctor had to repair the mess from 1999 for 2 hours before he did my sleeve. The doctor in 1999 had sutured the top of my stomach to my esophagus which this doctor had to take apart and take back down through my diaphragm before cutting the sleeve. I don't know when you had the nissen, but I would suggest to do a regular follow up upper GI xray periodically to see if the top of your stomach is creeping up through your diaprhagm. If I would have know this several years ago, I would not have been in the mess I was in. Everything turned out fine and I am 6 months out and my sleeve is fine, but what a mess I was. I just posted about my experience with this in my post the other day "6 Month Surgiversary" under success stories. Good luck to you.

Whats Better Sleeve Or Ru En Y?

I have heard that RNY is has alot of complications and very dangerous in the long term and sleeve is much safer. Alot of people on this forum have lost 130 lbs. or more.

    For The Slow Losers

Today is my 6 month surgiversary. I am close to my goal and the doctor told me last month that the closer you get to your goal, your body goes into attack mode and fights back at you and tries to keep you at the same weight. He said you must do the endurance training on the treadmill and keep calories and carbs down so your body will know you are not done losing! I am only 7 lbs. from his goal for me and 13 lbs. from my own goal so upstairs I go right now for my treadmill workout! Just remember, without this surgery, you probably wouldn't have lost half the weight on your own that you already have lost. The good outweighs the bad, and you are on your way. Just may take a little longer than someone else. Don't get discouraged and just feel fortunate you have had this opportunity to become a much healthier person!

Day 2 Post Op And "dying"

I personally have never heard of spasms. keep up with the room temp water, sipping, not gulping. And walk, walk, walk. Sounds like excessive gas buildup to me. Don't worry it will subside soon.

    Easiest Chicken Recipe Ever

I just pulled out my old Rival Crockette 1 quart crockpot from my garage sale to be box. I put two b/s chicken breasts in it this morning, no liquid, and seasoned with my fave Nature's seasonings. It is sooo tender. just about ready to have some. Guess I will keep it. Since my surgery i have normally been eating b/s thighs cuz they are more moist, and these are the first breasts I have had that have been moist and juicy.
  25. All of you remember that you will be in such better health after you are sleeved. Please take some breaths and calm down. You will be fine and so much happier in a couple months! Try to think about the fun you will have shopping for new clothes. And try to think about how awesome your new lifestyle eating habits will be since you are finally making the right choices for the first time! we are all praying for you. But try to relax and get your stress level down. You will be post-op before you know it!
