I was able to eat it at mushies stage, but don't like it after surgery. Too gritty tasting now. Also way too many carbs. you need to concentrate on protein first!

SleeveDreamer replied to augustkiwi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a good idea to stay close to your doctor until atleast 3-4 weeks. Don't ou have to go back for follow ups every week for awhile? -

So Can We Or Can We Not...
SleeveDreamer replied to Nate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 months out and bedore surgery I was a Diet Pepsi addict. i realized three months before my surgery that diet soda was really bad for you, so I stopped dinking it cold turkey. My doctor said it would not stretch the sleeve, but would cause severe gas and bloating. You do not want that after you take this step in your life. I don't even want it anymore. I am so happy with my sleeve and my weightloss, that I don't even want to take a chance of drinking it. You will probably find you don't want it anymore. I tried a sip of some carbonated sparking ice flavored water rhe other day, and one sip was enough. I could not bear the strong taste of the carbonation. You will find that your taste buds change dramatically and you may not even care for something you once loved. my advice to pre-ops is to not think about or worry about what you are going to be able to eat or drink. You won't know until the time comes and you try it, so why worry about it now. You will find yourself concentrating on your new eating habits and your new clothes! -
Please don't rush it. Would hate to see you get a leak. At 6 days you should still be on clear liquids or close to full liquids. Are you on mushies yet? If so, that is awfully quick. i would not even be having yogurt at 6 days, and certainly not a banana. Even when you get there, please watch the bananas, they are full of sugar. Iif you are drinking coffee, you should be drinking decaf because caffeine will dehydrate you especially at this stage. Right now please concentrate on liquids and protein. You do not want to get dehydrated. there is no reason to make your stomach ache or to be nauseated when you are this far out. It takes your stomach 12 weeks to heal. Please follow your doctors or NUT's instructions and don't vary from it. Your time will come sooner then you realize, but if you keep making yourself sick, he won't let you go to the next stage! Good luck!

I can't wait to try these tomorrow cuz I luv cheese puffs!

I can't even begin to eat a whole omelet!

Every morning I have an egg (but don't eat the whole thing) a Jimmy Dean turkey sauage link (JD is the best tasting), 2 oz. cottage cheese, and about 2 oz. of red grapefruit sections from the jar. Sometimes I have a no sugar added quaker instant oatmeal instead of the egg. depending on what we had for dinner the night before, I may eat some of the meat from that instead of the sausage.

Are Any Of You Post Ops Colder? Especially In This Weather From Hell?!
SleeveDreamer replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was always hot before surgery. Now I am always cold! -
How can you not crave a burger when every other commercial on TV is for a burger place!

I followed my dr's instructions exactly. i didn't try to rush anything. I never was sick from eating anything, and have always tolerated everything. If you follo his instructions and plan and don't try to rush things, you will be fine. Your time will come when you can eat anything! i know now it seems like you will never eat real food again, but the time will go fast.

I honestly can't say because I have never eaten anything my sleeve didn't rolerate! I think maybe a bad stomach ache, but not sure.

Home Goods also sells sets of small nested bowls in a hard plastic or acrylic. I have two sets. they have measurements on the inside and a measure line. I think they start at 1 oz. I still use these each day and I am 6 months. they were a lifesaver for me soon after surgery since you don't have to measure first before you put something in them. $4.99 a set. I thinks there are five differentsizes in the set. I couldn't be without mine.

They have tons of ramekins at TJ Maxx/ Home Goods for about 1.00 each.

I was a breadaholic before surgery. Now I don't even want it. It will fill you up very fast and expand so your stomach needs to be healed first to prevent leakage. You should be able to eat crackers like Wasa cripbread sooner, so use that in place of bread. I make tuna melts with them, pizza, and everything! When I was released for bread, I was oly allowed to have it toasted, again because of expanding. I don't even want or eat it anymore cuz it fills you up too fast. You will need to eat your protein first, and that will fill you up for awhile. Don't worry, your time will come for bread, but don't rush it.

A friend of mine had posted something on FaceBook about carb free cinnamon bread from Julian Bakery. I searched on Google, and they had it at Whole Foods. So while I was up theat way today, I bought some. Must be refigerated. VERY expensive. $8.39 per loaf. ZERO carbs. They also had Sourdough for $10.00. I bought both since I figured it would last awhile in the firdge. The girl said as long as it was refrigerated it would last indefinitely. When I got home, I toasted a piece of the cinnamon. OMG! How grotesque! I buttered it too! I spit the entire bite in the trashcan, couldn't even swallow it. I also tried the sourdough which has 1 carb. It was just as bad. Couldn't swallow even the one bite. I wouldn't even feed this to the birds! Whole Foods will not take it back saying they cannot guarantee how their health foods taste. Neither one would really toast enough even on the higher setting. Please DO NOT waste you money on the garbage! I could have bought a new size SMALL top for $18.00! Live and learn. I really don't want bread anymore anyway, but I figured with no carbs, why not.
