I FINALLY found Cream of Wheat Whole Grain today after weeks of looking for it. And I also found the higher proetin fat free milk I have been hunting for. I live in Southern California too, and you would think I wouldn't have a problem with all the stores here! can't wait to have some in the morning!

How Soon Did You Try Guacamole, Salsa, Hot Cheetos, Doritos? Sorry I Just Had Surgery On Tuesday And Omg :o Im Addicted To All Of That.
SleeveDreamer replied to Karen2012's topic in Food and Nutrition
I was eating salsa in my refried beans at mushees stage. i do agree with another post when they said why would you want to eat Cheetos and Doritos? Yes you will be able to eat those again sooner or later, but keep in mind the nutritional value and why would you want to get into that habit again? First of all no nutritional value and loads of carbs. Try replacing them with pork rinds (no carbs). Also I was a Cheeto fanatic, and I don't keep any chips or anything like that. Now instead I keep Lundberg rice chips, (very good and crunchy and come in several flavors) and maybe a bag of Pop Chips. If i go to a Mexican restaurant, I may eat two chips max! You need to fill up on protein first and mexican food has alot of protein, but if you fill up on chips and salsa first, you won't be able to eat your entree cuz there is no room! You will, find that you cannot eat alot at one time, and you can't fill up your small tummy with this junk food. You will be defeating the purpose of having your sleeve if you go back to your old eating habits. The amount of protein you eat has alot to do with the speed of your wieght loss and success. It's possible your sleeve may not even tolerate some of your fave foods now. i have seen alot of people on here say that, although that didn't apply for me. Good luck. -
Post Op Day 5

I lathered my lips and surrounding skin with chapstick and it really helped the dryness. Try some chewable gas x cherry flavored too. Right now count your protein shake as your 60 oz. of liquids, not in additon to. As for the nausea, your doctor should precribe something for you if it is that bad. Luckily I never had any! Good luck. It will get better soon! -
I was 6 months out on 6/14 . For Breakfast I usually have an egg any style (but usually can't eat the whole thing)then a Jimmy Dean turkey sauage limk, 2 oz. of cottage cheese, and then about 1/4 cup of ruby red grapefruit sections from the jar. For lunch i have either 4 slices turkey deli meat divided in two and then 1/2 slice muenster cheese on each with mustard and a bread n butter stacker pickle on each. Or my other fave for lunch is StarKist sandwich ready albacore tuna pouch (3.5 oz.) on Wasa crispbread crackers (2 crackers, 1/2 of tuna on each) with 1/2 slice of meunster cheese on each put under broiler for a tuna melt. Or my third fave lunch is three turkey meatballs in with marinara sauce. For dinner I eat anything but try to stick to 4 oz. of the meat and then have a green veggie, but usually can't eat much after I eat the 4 oz. of Protein. You will need to focus on protein first. I still have one rtd Protein Drink with at least 20g of protein every afternoon. I have a cheese stick or babybel lite cheese piece, or a handful of almonds for Snacks in the morning. Sometimes a rice cake with about a tsp of Peanut Butter. I drink Mio flavored Water all day when I am not eating Basically you can eat anything you want, if your sleeve cooperates. I have never eaten anything my sleeve didn't like. You will probably be on 4 oz. max for awhile at a time and then you will be advanced to about 8 oz. cuz your tummy will take 12 weeks to heal. When you get to that point you it's trial and error of what you can and can't eat. I don't have any problems with going out to eat. Always find something. Don't want bread or Pasta anymore and don't even miss it. You will not be able to eat those anyway until tummy heals, cuz they have a tendency to expand. Hope this helps! You definitely won't regret it!

Any Recipes For Creamed Soups Please? I Was Thinking The Campbell's Brand, But Im Not Sure ? Thank You <3
SleeveDreamer replied to Karen2012's topic in Purée (stage 2)
If you like butternut squash soup, you can buy the squash and cut it in cubes and microwave it. Then put in in blender with a little skim milk. Also lentil soups are great because they are chock full of protein! Try to avoid canned as much as possible as they are loaded with sodium. Alot of foods and veggies can be pureed in the blender too and if you and a little skim milk or chicken broth nstantly become a soup! -

Strange Question....
SleeveDreamer replied to courtney333's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You need to concentrate on protein right now so you don't go into starvation mode. jello is considered a clear liquid. i don't know what stage you are in so I can't say but if you just had surgery on the 18th and you are eating salmon already, that is much different than my doctor allowed. Were you ever on the pureed or mushies? That comes before soft food. You can get alot of protein in on mushies. i am curoious why he has allowed you to go to salmon already, but all doctors are different. Eat about every 3 hours and try cottage cheese, refired beans are great, lentil soups in blender. Perhaps you should go back to mushies for a cople days so Ou can get more prtein in. It doesn't sound like you are eating enough so you need to try a little every three hours or so. -
Never hearhd any doctor or nurse say anything about it.

Strange Question....
SleeveDreamer replied to courtney333's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would say to ad an additonal protein drink as a snack in the afternoon. Since you can't eat alot, ou will need to drink more of them to get 60-70g in. The more protein you eat, the better for our weight loss. I am 6 months and still drink at least one rtd protein drink every afternoon. -

Celery strings can get stuck in your staple line. Takes your tummy at least 12 weeks to heal. When you can have it they recommend you pull off the strings. When you can eat crunchy, try fried pork rinds, rice cakes, Wasa crispbread crackers, Lundberg Rice Chips instead of potato chips, Pop Chips instead of potato chips. Popcorn too when you get to that point.

My Boyfriend Left Me
SleeveDreamer replied to missmachine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree that the poor girl is brokenhearted and it is very hard for her especially at the same time she is recovering from this surgery, and i feel for her. I don't agree that this guy deserves much respect. Especially since he just walked out on her without explanation and won't even discuss matters with her. He is certainly not a man in my book, but a big baby. He could have handled it differently if he was ready to end the relationship. -
What Does It Mean When Dr Says "you Can Eat Soft Foods"?can Anyone Give Me Ideas Please :)
SleeveDreamer replied to Karen2012's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Ditto for me. I am Italian and if I have carbs, it's just like gluing them onto my midsection. I do not miss any of the bread , rice, or pasta like I thought I would. -
Such wonderful news. Hope you are recovering nicely. God is good. So glad you found about about this nasty thing when you did. Praying for you. Keep us posted.

Watch the pasta at this early stage. Has a tendency to expand in your tummy. I myself couldn't have pasta or rice for 10 weeks. -
I did some shredded beef tacos in won tons today. Did the won tons brown and get crisp in a pan? i put mine in the oven cuz I read some other posts on here Just curious. I love tuna melts on Wasa crackers too under the broiler. Really good.

My Boyfriend Left Me
SleeveDreamer replied to missmachine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel for you being kind of abandoned. But you really need to think of yourself and recovery at this time. Please get out of bed and wak. This will help relieve gas and prevent blood clots. You have made a decision to make yourself healthier. You have alot of changes to make with your eating habits. Try to think of other things like how good you will look with your wieghtloss and how you will be healthy enough to be able to do things with your son. Think of yourself and your son now. You don't need a man right now. This is your time. You will probably have men running after you in a few months! Good luck and keep us posted. -

I was only 55 lbs. overweight and BMI of 32. Although all my excess weight was in my abdomen and headed for my heart. My insurance would not pay cuz of the low BMI even though I could have had a heart attack had the pressure of my weight got any closer to my heart. My body fat % was 52% now down to 32%.
