TO DAISY MAY: I just read your post when you had gotten the 4th fill and finally felt what everyone was talking about with regards proper restriction. I know that was some time ago but I am wondering how things are going for you still? I had my band 2 years ago and have had 6 or 7 fills I havnt lost any weight in fact i have gained 10 or 15, my fill right now sounds just like what you described in your post, eat a little slower and somewhat less but not really enough to make a big difference. I thought that I was just one of those that it didnt work for but I am going to go in and get another fill after reading your post I think maybe I just dont have enough of a fill even though I have about 8 cc in a 10 cc band. The last fill ( 1year ago) did give me some restriction but I could easily eat 2.5 to 3 cups of food. I think the amount that you had mentioned ( green salad and 1/2 chicken breast) is what I am wanting that sounds like about 1 to 1/2 cups of food. (I am new on this site and I am still not figuring out how to send a post so that the original post that I am responding to sees it, so I hope "DAISY MAY"sees this. Thanks all

I am going to get my first fill in Mexico (Dr. Ortiz) He says he wants all of his patients to get their first fill with him. Reading from "yall" (I am from Ga can you tell) It sounds like its a crap shoot and the odds are highly against you that your first fill is going to go well, I am so nervous about this, I would like to hear from those of you who get your fills from Dr Ortiz,He makes it sound like he has a better degree of sucses than other Drs.

Hi I noticed that you had a slippage and are going to get re banded I was wondering do they use the same band? Is the cost the same as the first surgery? I heard that the cosst of the band it self was $4000 so I was wordering if that should happen to me would it only cost $4000 to get rebanded should I slip? I had to self pay $8000 for the surgery with Dr Ortiz in Mexico and I dont think I would be able to come up with $8000 again, Maybe $4000 but that would not be easy, I so want this lap band to work I am just 4weeks out of surgery my first fill is in 3 weeks, how did you know your band had slipped what were the symptoms and do you know what caused it? Thanks and I am glad to see you are still making progress and not backsliding is a miracle.

I ate solids after day 16 but I totally regretted it we paid a bunch of money for this surgery and if the drs say dont eat for 21 days just do it I went back on lequids from day 17 to 21 I was so paranoid that I had messed something up, I had no propblems on what I did eat but the worry that I might have messed this thing up WAS NOT WORTH IT! STAY ON LIQUIDS FOR 21 DAYS

Wow I had my surgery June 12 and my first fill is July 24 and I HAVE EVERY FEELING AND QUESTION AND FEAR THAT YOU DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It feels like a big let down like nothing ever happened like it was a dream all of the excitment and anticipation is gone and the old compulsive eating habits start returning, I feel comforted just knowing this must be fairly normal to feel this way.I also did cheat on solid food on the 16 day post op but I got scared that I might be messin something up and went back on liquids for the remainder of the 21 days needed for the liquids. I have also found my self the last week or so eating what is probably too much because I feel very full, not painfull but close and I worry maybe It is streching the new stomach although that was never emphasised by my dr. I think the nutritionist mentioned it once. Thanks for posting I think we will do just fine! I mean I think 90% of the people who have lap band surgery are just exactly like us and the vast majority do lose their weight and love their band!!!

I know exactly how you are feeling It is kind of a let down once you are healed and havent had your first fill yet, you feel like you did before surgery, I am a little worried because I cheated and ate solid foods on my 16 day (5 days before I was supposed to) everything went down just fine no problems but I got scared that I might be messing up something and went back on my liquids for the last 5 days. I'm going to get my first fill on the 24th I am going to be staying overnight so that if I need an adjustment Dr Ortiz can do it while I am still close to Mexico, does anyone out there think I should stay longer than 2 days? I dont want to have to fly back in a week because its not quite right it cost about $600 every time I will have to fly in for a fill.

First of all I find this site very difficult to get around, I havent lost any weight yet as I am just 3 weeks out of surgery and I have some questions and I figured who best to ask than the succsessful people who have been around long enough to lose 100 pounds, I feel very let down after all the excitment of preparring and counting the days till surgery,then there was the recouperation and getting used to liquids, but now I feel just like I did before my surgery, like nothing ever happened and I must wait another 3 weeks till my first fill, I feel just like before I had the surgery I am able to eat whatever I want, everything goes down easy I have not had any problems eating anything and of course I am starting to eat like the presurgery Linda EATING TOO MUCH AND BEING COMPULSIVE AGAIN ABOUT FOOD. I must admit that on my 16th day post surgery (5 days before I was supposed to) I ate about 3 meals of solid food during to course of 24 hours, then I got scared to death that I was ruining my band and went back on liquids for the following 5 days like I was supposed to, I so regret doing that! Even though I had no PBing and everything went down just fine I am still not going to be at peace untill I go In for my first fill on July 24 and Dr Ortiz checks everything out on xray and says that I didnt ruin anything, I am going to be flying in to Sandiego for my fill and I am wondering how many days would it be wise to stay close to Mexico so as to make sure my fill is right,not too tight and not too loose? I have planned to stay 2 days if any one out there has any suggestions please I would like to hear them, It cost me about $600 everytime I have to fly in and get a fill (350 for the flight 100 of the exray and 100 for the hotel and 50 for minor expences so I really want to do this right the first time. How often do most people get fills? Is it after you lose x number of lbs or just when you are not feeling restrictions? How bad is it when you PB? Sorry I have just been rambling on I just want this to work SO BADLY!!!!!!!!! Any insight would be greatly appreiciated as I once again am counting the days with great anxiety. thank you thank you thankyou I am being banded in 2 weeks and it is so disheartening reading about the problems, its scarry, I will never have my hands on 9k again so this is a one time shot, I want to keep positive, I just keep thinking well its a small possibility that I wont do well but its a for sure probability that is I dont do this where my life is going to be and it will be full of health problems and a lack of quality of life so I am going for it and have decided not to look at anymore negative threads! I dont understand why you said you wouldnt do it again, if you havent eroded why do you feel like a time bomb, is the band not working for you?

Im getting banded in 2 weeks... Now when I am very hungry and I eat a nice meal , I hit that point that I feel completly satisfied and not driven to eat more, will I still get that satisfied feeling with the band or do you still feel unsatisfied even though you are full? full of questions and hopefullness in GA.

I am scheduled for surgury June 12 in Mexico with Dr Ortiz, I feel confident about the surgeon and facilities but on some sites I hear more complaints and frustrations than succsess stories, It makes me doubt if Im doing the right thing.

I am going to mexico Dr Ortiz, Why did you choose Dr Kuri? how was your expierience I have read so many negative things on these sites that I'm gettin cold feet.

All of this Sh-- is scaring me Im supposed to get banded 6-12-07 I thought this thing was supposed to work for life, does anyone regret doing this!
