    lapband not working

TO DAISY MAY: I just read your post when you had gotten the 4th fill and finally felt what everyone was talking about with regards proper restriction. I know that was some time ago but I am wondering how things are going for you still? I had my band 2 years ago and have had 6 or 7 fills I havnt lost any weight in fact i have gained 10 or 15, my fill right now sounds just like what you described in your post, eat a little slower and somewhat less but not really enough to make a big difference. I thought that I was just one of those that it didnt work for but I am going to go in and get another fill after reading your post I think maybe I just dont have enough of a fill even though I have about 8 cc in a 10 cc band. The last fill ( 1year ago) did give me some restriction but I could easily eat 2.5 to 3 cups of food. I think the amount that you had mentioned ( green salad and 1/2 chicken breast) is what I am wanting that sounds like about 1 to 1/2 cups of food. (I am new on this site and I am still not figuring out how to send a post so that the original post that I am responding to sees it, so I hope "DAISY MAY"sees this. Thanks all
  4. I havent been on this website for a long time, I got my band last June 12, so its been a few days over a year. I am one of the failures, I have gained 8 lbs this year, I have just given up and feel like I was just grasping for a last ditch effort to lose this weight. I am 295 and I am only 5'2''

I have gotten "skinny" 3 times in my life (53 years old) and each time slowly gained it back, I read all there was about the lap band but I realise now that I never really heard what people were telling me about it just being a tool and I had to follow certain rules, I was really counting on this thing to do it for me. I have what I consider to be a major and chronic sugar addiction, never have I ever been able to eat small portions when it comes to sweets, it is major binge or abstain.

I have had a very difficult time with getting the proper fill and I still dont know if it is right. I have the vg band which takes up to 10 cc's, I have had

7 or 8 fills and am now up to 7.2. I do have restriction but I definetly do not have to chew my food untill it is liquid like I read in one of your articles. I do have to eat slower but usually just in the begining of a meal, after I take 4 to 5 bites the food usually just kind of sits there and will not allow me to have any more bites for about 5 minuets then I can feel the food go through my band and I can then eat with out that happening to much again unless I eat to fast. I PB occationally but I know that is because I am eating to fast or two big of bites. I have read a few of your articles and have really liked what you have to say. I would love to hear anything anyone has to say because I have basicly given but would love to have faith in this fight again.

  5. I Was Encouraged To Read That You Lost 150 Lbs On One Fill At 10 Cc, I Am At 9.2 And Finally Have Some Restricton But I Was Very Depressed Because I Figured My Band Was Almonst Filled ( I Think My Vg Only Holds 10) And I Still Had 150 Lbs To Go. Would Love Some Feed Back
  6. I Notice That You Have 9.3 In A 10 Vg Band, Are You Concerned That Your Band Will Get Filled To 10 And You Are Still Not Done With Losing? I Have 9.2 In A 10 Vg And Have Just Now Gotten Restriction And Have 150 Lbs To Lose, I Am Worried.
  7. Please Tell Me Do You Have A Vg Band, Well I Guess You Must Because You Have 9.5 Ccs, The Reason I Am Asking Is Because I Have 9.2 In My 10 Cc Band And I Have Just Now With This Last Fill Gotten Restriction I Have 150 Lbs To Lose And Now I Figure There Is Only .8 More To Go And Surly I Will Need Many More Fills Before I Get To My Goal Can You Give Me Any Insight On This?

Lap Band Fills / Adjustment Info

I Notice You Have A Vg Band At 7.5, My Vg Is Up To 9.2 And I Have For The First Time Got Some Restriction I Am Worried That I Wont Have Much More Room To Tighten It Up When I Lose Some Weight, The Vg Only Holds 10 Right?
  9. I am going to get my first fill in Mexico (Dr. Ortiz) He says he wants all of his patients to get their first fill with him. Reading from "yall" (I am from Ga can you tell) It sounds like its a crap shoot and the odds are highly against you that your first fill is going to go well, I am so nervous about this, I would like to hear from those of you who get your fills from Dr Ortiz,He makes it sound like he has a better degree of sucses than other Drs.
  10. I am also a new bandster 4 weeks out, I live in Monroe, Georgia and would love to see a fill center in Duluth!!!!! maybe if they knew really how many people are out here looking for a center in the Atlanta area that uses the floro, by the way I went on their website and I could never find a price for the floro, I know its extra cor.lin@yahoo.com

  12. Hi I noticed that you had a slippage and are going to get re banded I was wondering do they use the same band? Is the cost the same as the first surgery? I heard that the cosst of the band it self was $4000 so I was wordering if that should happen to me would it only cost $4000 to get rebanded should I slip? I had to self pay $8000 for the surgery with Dr Ortiz in Mexico and I dont think I would be able to come up with $8000 again, Maybe $4000 but that would not be easy, I so want this lap band to work I am just 4weeks out of surgery my first fill is in 3 weeks, how did you know your band had slipped what were the symptoms and do you know what caused it? Thanks and I am glad to see you are still making progress and not backsliding is a miracle.

    Eating 4 days post op

I ate solids after day 16 but I totally regretted it we paid a bunch of money for this surgery and if the drs say dont eat for 21 days just do it I went back on lequids from day 17 to 21 I was so paranoid that I had messed something up, I had no propblems on what I did eat but the worry that I might have messed this thing up WAS NOT WORTH IT! STAY ON LIQUIDS FOR 21 DAYS

    Needing some advice!

Wow I had my surgery June 12 and my first fill is July 24 and I HAVE EVERY FEELING AND QUESTION AND FEAR THAT YOU DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It feels like a big let down like nothing ever happened like it was a dream all of the excitment and anticipation is gone and the old compulsive eating habits start returning, I feel comforted just knowing this must be fairly normal to feel this way.I also did cheat on solid food on the 16 day post op but I got scared that I might be messin something up and went back on liquids for the remainder of the 21 days needed for the liquids. I have also found my self the last week or so eating what is probably too much because I feel very full, not painfull but close and I worry maybe It is streching the new stomach although that was never emphasised by my dr. I think the nutritionist mentioned it once. Thanks for posting I think we will do just fine! I mean I think 90% of the people who have lap band surgery are just exactly like us and the vast majority do lose their weight and love their band!!!

    First time fill question

I know exactly how you are feeling It is kind of a let down once you are healed and havent had your first fill yet, you feel like you did before surgery, I am a little worried because I cheated and ate solid foods on my 16 day (5 days before I was supposed to) everything went down just fine no problems but I got scared that I might be messing up something and went back on my liquids for the last 5 days. I'm going to get my first fill on the 24th I am going to be staying overnight so that if I need an adjustment Dr Ortiz can do it while I am still close to Mexico, does anyone out there think I should stay longer than 2 days? I dont want to have to fly back in a week because its not quite right it cost about $600 every time I will have to fly in for a fill.
