When Will I Be Able To Drink Normally Again? Tired Of Sipping!
gettingtohappy replied to gettingtohappy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seraphina, I can totally relate! This truly isn't as easy as I thought. But I guess that nothing worth having is...right. I am still amazed by all the different timelines that doctors give. Dr. Garcia only gave me 7 days on each phase. I'd be passed out somewhere if I had to do more than that. If you are over 7 days...not only can you mix Protein Powder with your drink...you should! I'm already freaking out because I'm not getting enough protein in my diet and after week 1 it is very important to start getting your protein up. Of course PLEASE consult your physician first. Because I am no where near medically qualified. lol... Good luck in the future...this too shall pass! Someone said in this post that it will pass sooner than you think...but not soon enough! That was so clever because we don't have the restrictions of others like the gastric bypass people...in essence, it's only a few weeks to a couple months before we return to that comfortable feeling. But we want it NOW. I don't care what anyone says...this is a serious surgery and you are going to have to take some time to heal. Please understand, I'm not preaching to you. I'm just reminding myself! Blessings! -
Does everyone get a Drain after Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
gettingtohappy replied to ProudGrammy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had quite a bit of drainage with mine 10 days ago. Dr. Garcia kept in on for two days and we needed it to do the blue dye test to check for leaking. The drain was emptied about 6 or 8 times the whole time I had it. Even had a little clot of blood in it once. Dr. Garcia also used diabetic socks to reduce possibility of blood clotting. I hated having it but was grateful that that Fluid came out instead of being in. Seems as if it would have irritated me as the first night was a little rough. HTH! -
Gallbladder Problems After Gastric Sleeve Surgery...
gettingtohappy replied to Kayla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry to hear about the problems that you are having with your gall bladder! Do you all feel that this is due to having VSG?!? I pray you will all get better and feel normal asap! -
Ok...so I think I've been doing wrong because I have a sour stomach when drinking and eating. Is it because I'm drinking regular gatorade? I haven't been text book on avoiding sugar...ie...yogurt, and jello. Is this my problem? I had a low bmi so I thought my doctor ordered no sugar because of that just being the standard and not wanting to dwarf my weight loss. But most certainly I don't want to do anything to harm myself. I'm in my 2nd week. What is sugar doing to me?!

What Is Sugar Doing To Me?
gettingtohappy replied to gettingtohappy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks lilmissdiva, Girl...my mom had bypass years ago and I told her about what was going and she told me to stay away from the sugar and that's why my stomach is annoyed. I've only had about an ounce of yogurt since the surgery so I'm not quite sure it's that. But you have a great idea to space it out and flush out the culprit. Thanks for responding! -
When Will I Be Able To Drink Normally Again? Tired Of Sipping!
gettingtohappy replied to gettingtohappy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks so much for the responses everyone! This most certainly gives me hope! I'm pretty sure I'm not getting all the Fluid I need now and it's scary. I'm starting the second week and I'm so aggrivated with all of this. It's so interesting how some people were better able to drink in a few weeks and others months and others over a year....wow....I want to be on team "few weeks" . I see now that patience is a virtue here... -

Dr. Garcia...sleeved Last Weekend! Review...now 1 Week Post-op
gettingtohappy replied to gettingtohappy's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm so glad to hear that I can help! I know how terrifying this can be, but we as Americans are not privied to these types of surgeries without being tortured by insurance companies! How old is your daughter? Please be sure that she understands how major this surgery is. The first night will be an introduction to the next few months of uncomfortable sipping of liquid and uncomfortable eating of any strained foods. I'm still not used to this 1 week post op. I know that this is not alot of time...but I am dealing with a little bit of buyers remorse. Some have very little of this. This is all by my experience. Be by her side and never join in any pity parties she may have post op. In a few months I hear life returns to normal...but the first few weeks can truly challenge even the strong, mentally. I don't mean to scare you. Just have her understand that this can be more of a mental than physical challenge...believe it or not. -
Anyone use Alma at Ready4AChange?
gettingtohappy replied to 5DogMa's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Yes, I used Alma! I was sleeved by Dr. Garcia last weekend. Alma took care of everything and is still answering any questions that I have. She sends them straight to them and then forwards his answer back to me instantly! I was very impressed by their staff!
