    Head Hunger

What bothers me even more than dreaming of certain foods is the head hunger I get when I eat. I know this sounds crazy but I mentally want to eat more even though I am stuffed and physically can't. My mind keeps saying that's so good, just one more bite. I hate that! But luckily like I said I just can't physically do it. Hopefully one day my mind will catch up with my stomach.
  2. You shouldn't put any type of antibiotic ointment on the incisions. Keeping it moist will delay wound healing. I put aveeno lotion on the skin around the incision being mindful to not put it to close or directly on the incision. Double check with your doctor if you are concerned.
  3. I was told I could not take the pill anymore due to the fact that it may not absorb correctly. I had to choose a non pill option. But I was told to wait 2 weeks before resuming birth control. Different doctors different rules

    lap band to sleeve?

I really disliked my band. I was successful in the beginning and I lost 80 lbs but then I started having bad pain when I ate. Then it turned into stomach pain the majority of the time. And the port hurt all the time. My surgeon kept deflating my band in hopes to give my stomach a break and of course I started gaining weight back because I could eat whatever. Eventually I decided that was enough and talked to my surgeon and switched to the vsg. It took my doctor almost 2 hours to remove my band because he said it was covered in scar tissue and it took him a long time to get through it to the band. He felt that's why I had pain all the time. The sleeve has definitely been a better fit for me... I don't have to go in constantly for adjustments, I have yet to throw up or get that awful " stuck" feeling, and no pain!

    I killed it today!

Awesome! I love Zumba... Talk about losing calories a fun way! It's great that when you are eating out that you chose healthy foods and a healthy portion, that can be a struggle... Looks like you are rockin that sleeve!
  6. I am guilty of weighing everyday... It can be discouraging so I'm gonna take that piece of advice and try to weigh only once a week

    Confused

I have had this same problem due to lack of calorie intake however I am only getting between 250 and 400 calories a day. This is not the norm for most post-op sleeve patients. I actually had to have an EGD to stretch out some of my sleeve because it was so narrow. But I get light headed and nauseous a lot when I work out because I am not getting enough calories. My doctor actually told me to only do light intensity exercise (like walking and going really slow on elliptical). Does your office have a triage nurse? Mine does and that is who I have talked to a lot. If you are having issues you let her know and she in turn talks to the surgeon to work out the issue. They actually worked me in the next day after I talked to her.
  9. Being 6 weeks out a lot of things still do not taste good to me. I heard this could happen post-op but I don't understand the reasoning behind it. It is frustrating but then again I never crave anything and I never feel the need to eat a ton of food. When things don't taste the same it becomes a way to push away from my plate. I believe that this does get better as time passes though.

    Dry Itchy Skin!

I have experienced this and I will tell you a little bit about my regimen. In the shower I start by using Oil of Olay moisturizing body wash and Nioxin scalp therapy #1 (my scalp was dry, flaky, and itchy as well). The Nioxin also helps with hair thinning/loss which you may experience later on and it feels FABULOUS on your scalp. Then after my shower I apply Aveeno non scented 24 hour moisture (brown and green bottle) all over my body. I also apply Tarte Maracuja Oil (can be expensive, so you can opt for a daily face moisturizer if you'd like) before my makeup. For a while my makeup looked awful cause my skin was so dry and using the Maracuja Oil really helped. Then before I go to bed I use a vanilla scented body butter (thicker than a normal lotion, almost like a cream) that I picked up at walmart. If you can tolerate wearing socks to bed get a pair of thick fluffy socks to put on your feet after the body butter to help dry and cracked heels. I remove all my makeup and then apply Cetaphil facial moisturizer. This made a world of a difference. Now being 6 weeks out I still continue this because my skin feels and looks AMAZING!

    Incision question!

I had one incision that became red but my surgeons office said no ointment at all beause the moisture inhibits healing. Also that same incision had a scab and my surgeon said do not pull it off. The scab will slowly get smaller or fall off when it is ready and as the wound continues to heal. Hope this helps.

    Progress

That's awesome, you look fab! So glad you got off those meds, that's such a great accomplishment as well!
  13. Tylenol is not an NSAID. We shouldn't take NSAIDs because they are a stomach irritant and they do cause gastric ulcers which would be very bad for us. I wouldn't advise using it ever again. It's not worth the risk. NSAIDs do not thin your blood either. The only OTC medicine that thins blood is aspirin.
  14. I really love the chocolate Premier Nutrition ready made shake. Next would be EAS Myoplex in chocolate fudge.
