akirk replied to Yiraini01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have tried them all lol but I have stuck with the nuvaring... I actually really love it. The implanon had horrible side effects for me. -
hard knot at sub-q injection site?
akirk replied to katikati's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most blood thinners are best absorbed in the abdomen. I had to take lovenox 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after my surgery. The knots are normal, just small hematomas that form under the skin... They will go away in a couple weeks. -
Long story... Anyone else been here?

Leann I am drinking most things room temperature. Things that are cold hurt my stomach quite a bit. Also I'm still between the pureed and soft food phase because my surgeon does not want me to advance to full solids because of the issues I am having. I eat a lot of greek yogurt because it goes down very easily and doesn't upset my stomach. Mashed potatoes, the inside of a baked potato, and eggs also sit very well. Meats typically hurt, I've tried tuna and chicken salad and both are very hard to get down and it hurts. I'm so glad everyone is doing so well. Mander I feel full for hours after I eat the tinest bit. I think that is another reason he is so concerned. I can't drink a protein shake and then eat 30 mins later. I am so full! I've been trying to eat 5-6 meals a day but I physically can't do it. My surgeon said there could be a stricture between the opening at the end of my stomach and the beginning of my intestines and that food may not be passing out of my stomach fast enough. I don't know anymore everytime I talk to him he thinks it could be something else lol. -

I agree, I think it is a bit early but I'm not sure how much longer I can function like this. Also my surgeon said today he wants to set up an EGD to be done this week and he advised me to go to the ER for 2 liters of fluid. This is so frustrating. -
Sore Around Lap Band Port Site
akirk replied to betsylulu2525's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Not to scare you, cause I think I am an exception, but my port site has always been sore. I was banded November of 2010 and I have lost 65 lbs. The more weight I have lost the more noticeable and therefore more sore my port has become. My surgeon believes that eventually he will have to go back in and reposition my port deeper so that the soreness will stop. Hopefully though once your intitial incisional pain goes away your port will feel better. I would give it a little more time. Good luck! -
Well I'm definitely trying and not being very successful... my hunger is just not controlled at all and distraction techniques are starting to not distract me. I thought it would be easier. I guess after surgery, even though we have no restriction, our stomachs are swollen and that's why my Dr. said it was easier to feel full after surgery. Now I have no restriction and my stomach is not swollen so it's a lot easier to eat more. Praying I get restriction back at my next appt.

Hi, I am 1 yr post op and have 6 mls in my band. In August I started a new job and during my orientation I have been switching between day shift and night shift every few days. My eating habits are crazy trying to eat at night and then eat during the day. And now I'm just hungry all the time and I've gained 15 lbs. Does anyone have any advice on how to get back on track and to not feel hungry at all hours of night and day? I will be permanent night shift when my orientation ends.

I thought that might be it but I have been great since Feb. which was my last fill. I was only having problems recently. I actually went to my doctor and they took a look and they believe I might have a stomach ulcer. They removed all fluid from my band which happened to be only 4 mls not 6 mls that we thought were in there. They didn't seem to be concerned that 2 mls were missing. But I am suffering now. I can't believe how much the band was actually controlling my hunger because now I feel like I could eat everything I see. And I am definitely struggling now. I just assumed it would be easier since my eating habits have changed and since I don't eat a lot at one time. If anyone has any advice on how to get through not having restriction that would be nice!
