Hey again! Tomorrow is exactly week 4, How is everyone doing with food intake at this point? I can do soft veggies and saltines lol. Are there any other suggestions? Also I'm having heartburn issues, the prilosec seems to help but does anyone else have a more natural way of dealing with it?
I take Prilosec daily, but I've turned to Tums w/ Calcium chewables for extra help in recent weeks because I was super stressed out at work and it's caused my tummy to go nuts. It worked for me. I hope this helps!

I've found stalls last about two weeks. Keep on plan and it'll all be ok!

Just my humble opinion: yes, I would have a baby ASAP. I have no children and at 38 I know the chances of having a healthy baby plummet around 35. Weight does complicate the matter greatly though, so it's a personal choice between you and your doctor(s). Keep us posted!!!! I wish you the BEST OF LUCK no matter what you choose.

I'm glad you asked the forum. That's what it's for! I was lucky enough not to have a Constipation problem. I wish I had some good advice for you. Perhaps the others will have more good feedback for you! I wish you luck!

I'm so happy for you! What a momentous victory! You bring up an interesting goal. One I had not thought about. I will add it to my list: to change my weight classification from "severely obese" to "overweight". Thank you for the inspiration!
I take it your mother has passed? If so, I'm sorry she can't be with you to experience your transformation, but I believe she is in your heart and knows...somehow...someway.

Hey, I got one! I don't know if we;ve already touched on it, but I didn't see myself changing shoe sizes! I've lost 66 lbs and gone from a 7.5/8 to a 7.

I'm so surprised to hear about all the vomitting after surgery in the hospital. My doctor was so worried I would throw up post-surgery. He promised he'd do everything in his power to keep me from vomitting. I felt so comforted to hear that from him. I never threw up either. We tried 3 types of meds before one finally relieved the nausea, but it worked great.
I'm so sorry anyone got sick after stomach surgery. I can imagine it was a special kind of hellish experience.
So I guess the lesson learned is to ask our surgeons how they will handle post-op nausea treatement.

I used to watch that show occassionally. I try not to watch any shows that deal with food prep or restaurants (with the major exception of Top Chef) now because they tend to make me feel like snacking/cheating. Poor, Adam. i had no idea he was having so many problems. I hope he finds his way to good health.

I certainly don't envy your position. I wish I knew what to tell you. I like what everyeon has said so far; especially, MassIndex and Dorrie Robles. Keep us posted. Be strong and have confidence - even if you don't have any. Good luck!

No tube for me either. I was lucky.
I felt pretty prepared for the process thanks to this forum.
This was my first major surgery. I was shocked how fatigued I was for the first month. I still get fatigued easily. I was warned though.
I didn't realize how hard it would be to get my Protein (60 - 80g/day) and Water. Again, I was warned. I just had to go through it.
Oh, the big one: I had a sudden case of serious cold feet about three days before surgery. I called my family for a sanity check and they helped pull me back from the ledge (cancelling the surgery). I'm so happy I did it!

I went to Nashville, Tennessee at Centennial Hospital with Dr David Dyer. I can tell you the program is top-rated, but the price....well, they have self-pay options, but I didn't look into it. I was very lucky my insurance covered my care. Good luck!

I haven't found one yet and I think that is what is making me depressed. Before food was my comfort, took that out and now I am a little lost!!
I'm kind of in the same boat. Although, healthy cooking is rewarding in and of itself; I'd like to find a hobby beside cooking.

I don't think I had an "old" addiction... I will say that I enjoy shopping a lot more now, but I don't think it's an addiction, just an enjoyable activity. Something kind of strange, though--I worry less about keeping things "perfect" now. I used to be a neat freak, totally organized, unable to relax if things were disordered. Not so much any more!
So you can relax now. That's a major triumph! I find I'm not wound as tight either. I guess we can add it to the list of unexpected benefits!

Great question! I would love to hear about new "addictions". I'm sure working out is super popular. I was a foodie before surgery (not long ago) and I've really enjoyed learning about new food combos that are super healthy and tasty.
I *highly* recommend http://theworldaccor...e.blogspot.com/ for recipes and honest blogging about her WLS journey!
I've heard bad things about patients going back to their food addiction or moving to drinking alcohol excessively. That's terrifying.

IMHO, it's better to be safe than sorry. I would call my surgeon asap.
I had a mild, intermittent, throbbing pain in my upper arms. It only showed up 3 times in a 3 week period and each time it was a different arm. I told my surgeon and he referred me to my General Practitioner. She is having blood work done and I'm waiting fro the test results.
I hope everything is okay you!
