Does your brain have to catch up with your band?
MellioM replied to electronicart's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The head stuff is really the hardest to handle. I weigh myself 2x a week and track everything so I can go back and look at all the changes that have happened. If not it is so easy for me to lose sight of how far I have come in the past year. I feel different but at the same time I don't feel like I have changed all that much. It is such a head trip. -
There are some great c25k apps out there where u can listen to your own music or even no music and the voice comes on telling you when to switch. I started my c25k last February and have since done 5 or 6 races. I have actually lost count. It could be more like 7. Lol. I have a winter 5k coming up on the 22nd. My husband has run the last 3 races with me (that does make it 7!) and we have decided to train for our first half marathon for fall 2013!!! Running is the best and runners are the most welcoming people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

I have been banded a year. I was really hoping to make it to 100 pounds lost by now. I am close. Maybe by the end of this month I will be where i want to be. I have to say that the hardest part has been the mind games. I still see me as I was one year ago. I have trouble seeing any change. I pull out my old clothes to keep my head in check. I started out wearing a 24 and now I have 14s that are too loose and some 12s that fit nicely. Almost 100 pounds gone in one year. I love my band.

Can't tell if the pics went through from my mobile. -
I say eat more. With that much exercise your body needs fuel.

I used to burp all of the time. Then I had a too tight episode and a slight unfill. Since then rarely do I burp. You will be shocked but I eat 1600 calories a day. I plan to keep doing that as long as it keeps working for me. When I was eating less I had less energy and couldn't keep up with my workout schedule. Find what works for you. Under 1000 calories a day didn't give me enough energy but each of us is different. Good luck.

I was too tight a couple of months ago. Ever since my sought unfill I have been perfect. For me perfect turns out to be a little looser than many bandsters. I have lost weight since then and have been able to keep up my exercise routine with no problems. My little tight episode has shown me what is not right for me. I was getting stuck at least one a day. Now it is a rare occurrence. One thing that helps me stay on course is my fitness pal app. I log everything I eat and keep honest about it. If I ate a bunch of chocolate because I made hot chocolate I don't lie about it. I know just how Much I ate every day. I also weigh myself regularly to avoid any gains. Doing those things and keeping a slightly loose band has made me happy. Tracking your food may be a good tool for you too. If you are on my fitness Paul add me as a friend. My name is the same there.

I had surgery 1 year ago. I am down almost (not quite there but close) 100 lbs. I exercise hard. I am a runner. I also include strength training and some at home videos. I eat more than many bandsters but I feel it is what is right for me. As soon as I get all this chocolate out of my house I will be betted off. Lol. Mmmm. Chocolate. It also happens to be a slider so I can eat it no mater what! I don't claim to have any answers for anyone else but, I am doing what I feel is right for me. I was at a plateau this summer until I upped my calories. For me, I wasn't eating enough. Good luck breaking through.

I use a heartrate monitor to get accurate calories burned during workouts. I never found a pedometer that actually worked for me. How accurate is the fitbit? I have been curious but honestly cannot imagine it being very accurate if it is only detecting movement. I mean if i clip it to my arm and wave one arm all day that is movement but not the same kind of movement as running. Kwim?

I have never seen at any of my GNCs. You can check the PB2 site because most places do not carry it. You can order online from them. I use mine in my protein drinks.

Everyone is different. For me, I had to increase my calories in order to begin losing again. I exercise 5-6 days a week and include strength training. More important than just calories is the type of calories. I try very hard to do 30% Protein 30% fat and 40% carbs (this includes veggies so don't go thinking you need to load up on pasta!). Keep trying to find what works for you. Nevermind everything I said. You are only 3 weeks post op!!!! Just concentrate on healing right now!!!!!
