Tired Of Food Running My Life

I was so looking forward to having to "make myself eat" after my sleeve. This has definetely not been the case. Im still hungry all the time. Im also upset that I have only lost 1 pound a week for the past 4 weeks. And this is after increasing my workouts from almost nothing to 3-5 days a week. I was so excited when I was in the gym that all of that hard work was going to mean more #'s off the scale. I guess not. Everyday of my life, when I see skinny women, I think to myself "is she hungry all the time?" and "what does she eat to be so damn skinny?". Basically these thoughts rule my world all of the time. As im sitting here, my stomach is growling and the idea of eating is awful because I know it will just keep making me fat. And on top of it all, this concept of protein keeping hunger at bay, well...I just dont believe it. I drink my protein, mix it into just about anything I can, and it sure isnt keeping me from being hungry. Uuugggghhh... On the positive side, I do feel good. I havent had any problems with my surgery, and I feel 100%. Im just going to keep eating healthy foods, excercising, and praying that one day god will help me get over this food addiction I have.

    Hungry, Hungry Hippo

Wow, I can really empathize with you. I feel the same way. Honestly, the past two days have been incredibly hard for me. I am hungry all the time. I am so disappointed because so many people told me I wouldnt be hungry anymore after my surgery, and that is just not true. Many days I catch myself saying the exact phrase you posted, "hungry, hungry hippo". seems to be the phrase that sums up my life.

    Depressed

I just logged on here because im feeling the EXACT same way. I have lost 63 pounds since my surgery feb 1st and thought that I was doing really well. At my recent dr's appointment I realized I had only lost 4 pounds in 4 weeks. I have never felt so horrible about myself as I did when I realized that. Im just over 3 months out and a pound a week is not what I was hoping for. The main reason im so upset is because I too have upped my excercise. Pre-op I never excercised, now ill ride 10 miles on a bike and walk 2. I was expecting a LARGE loss after including this workout, but obviously not. On top of it all, im hungry ALL OF THE TIME! The surgery definetely didnt curb my appettite one bit, but I do eat much smaller portions.

    Head Hunger

First off, CONGRATS on the weight loss and you did a GREAT job by giving those cookies away! that was a huge step right there, if your anything like me, not eating half the batch was the big hurdle . I understand so much about the head hunger. The first week after my surgery I explained it to everyone like it was rehab for eating. My mind constantly said EAT PIZZA, EAT CHEESEBURGERS! I dont know what I thought I was going to do with that food, but my head sure wanted it. I still have the head hunger, but it doesnt cause me as much anxiety as it originally did. My problem now is my surgeon and nutritionist cleared me to eat anything. They said "nothings off limits, just take it slow". I dont think they should have said that to me, cause now I feel free to eat what I want. Now im a guilty wreck thinking I eat too much and not the correct things.

27 Days Post Op! My First Post After Surgery :)

faddisc- I am feeling hunger. In fact, I made a post about just that. I am hungry ALL THE TIME! and its not just in my head, im over that (well im a food addict, so im not completely over that yet lol). The first week after surgery my mind kept craving things but obviously I didnt eat them, and my stomach wasnt growling. Now my stomach is actually growling HUNGRY constantly. I eat and its so much better. Veronica Duke- thanks for the support and good luck with your journey!!
  9. Thanks for the comments everyone! I am on prescription prevacid, have been since before the surgery to prevent acid. I work on getting my water and protein in. This is just driving me crazy! I went through all this work and now IM HUNGRY!?! Pookeyism- I think I'll try the tums idea, maybe im just gurgling up some acid. Writergirl- I COMPLETELY understand. Its unerving to think that I had surgery and my surgeon said "your going to have to force yourself to eat because you wont be hungry". Well thats just bs for me right now because as I type, my stomach is GROWLING in hunger. If I eat it stops for a little bit. I think im going to check with my surgeon and see what she has to say.
  10. First, I want to say how thankful I am that THIS is my chief problem at this point. I really dont have any other complaints right now. Pretty much everything I have ate since surgery has settled ok with me, I can keep my protein down, and in fact, I havent vomited once since surgery. I have not had horrible bouts of nausea, and when I had my 3 week check up with my surgeon I had lost 30 pounds . So yes, I am VERY thankful my chief complaint is that im hungry. That being said, Im a nervous wreck that im THIS hungry only 4 weeks out. It started about 3-4 days ago, and you can set a clock by my hunger. No matter what I eat, protein, fruit, vegetables, 2 hours later I will be hungry. The main reason Im so darn worried about this is because I DONT WANT TO B HUNGRY! Im scared that if I eat every 2 hours ill stretch my stomach out and ill be back in the same stinking boat I was before the surgery. Obviously, Im eating tiny amounts of food, but the size is increasing. I still eat between 1-2 tbsp and 1/4 cup food but I am just so worried that im frequently hungry. Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else had this? Am I just completely crazy for being worried?!
  11. I had my sleeve on Feb 1st and the surgery went great. The surgeon described it as "textbook" and I was only in there for a little over an hour. The pain was not severe, well as long as I didnt try to bend over to put my underwear on (but thats a whole nother story lol). The pain medication more than manages the pain. I didnt have any problems with nausea while in the hospital, the pain thing I noticed was stomach spasms. From the time I woke up from anesthesia I kept feeling this sensation in my upper abdomen that felt like I was hungry. I kept telling my surgeon "I think Im HUNGRY!!?!". She just smiled and explained to me that I was feeling stomach spasms. Cold water has been my only enemy since my surgery. Even little sips of cold water cause slight discomfort/nausea/spasms. The odd thing is, if I put crystal light in my water, I dont have the problem. So for now, I drink crystal light and try to drink room temp h20 as often as I can. Like I said though, ice cold or even cold water has been the only thing I have a problem ingesting. So far my incisions have healed up nicely. The discomfort in my abs with exertion is pretty much gone now, and I must say, I feel like my old self. Right after the surgery my "bathroom habits" were very frequent, which my surgeon said was to be expected. That has even regulated itself now. Im glad to be posting on here finally, I think I had been putting it off because it all seems unreal- like "yeah, this happend!!". I can honestly say that I still feel that way, like I am shocked that its all over with and im safe and healthy at home.

    Im Scared, Pre-op

Hi all! I havent been back on here for awhile! I had my sleeve on Feb 1, and I have felt GREAT since then. I should have been on here with everyone in the past 27 days, but boy how time flies! Obviously I was nervous before the surgery, but so far NO PROBLEMS! I have had 2 episodes of nausea, that lasted just a few minutes- I believe it was spasms. To those out there who are nervous pre-op, its normal to be nervous. I was young, healthy, and had no chronic health issues so my surgery went well. I am extremly thankful for that. I currently have only a couple of issues (they r extremely minor) related to food intake, other than that- no real complaints!!!
  13. Thanks for the add :) :) :)

  14. WOW, everyone, GREAT work! You guys made huge strides and look how far you have come. CONGRATULATIONS! you all look wonderful.
  15. So I just joined up on verticalsleevetalk.com yesterday and already im a fan . Lots of information on here and supportive people. So my journey begins, and from what I can tell, its going to be one heck of a journey. Im excited to feel NORMAL about myself in the near future. Theres so much I want to do that I mentally think I "cant" do now because of my weight. I hope so many doors will be opened because of this. I wont lie- I am nervous, but excited all the same.
