  1. Just put on a dress I bought 2 years ago and never wore. It fit, was even a little too big, I dare say...BUT, the NSV is that I put on a pair of pantyhose, without having to lay on the bed or put a nail through them because I was pulling so hard to get them over my thighs!!!! :) :)

    Amazing!

So, surgery was March 19th. Everything went very well, recovery has gone very smoothly. I have had two instances of having one bite too many, which wasn't fun but, I'm learning! The best thing is that I am down 10 pounds since the surgery but, better than that, I have lost a total of 9 1/2 inches from my body!! I am totally shocked by this. Measurements as of last night are: Waist - 45 inches (-3) Thigh - 25 1/2 (-1/2) Chest - 46 1/2 (-1 1/2) Hips - 46 (-4) Biceps - 14 1/2 Calf - 15 1/2 (-1/2) Totally psyched about this!!! :) :) :)
  3. So, protein shakes aren't working for me too well. They are just too thick. I tried mixing orange whey protein with orange juice but, it was too sweet. So today, I tried something new. I love the iced mocha latte from Dunkin Donuts. I just ordered a medium iced latte, decaf, skim milk, no whipped cream and added a scoop of dutch chocolate IsoPure protein to it. I get in 25 grams of protein and get to sip one of my favorite drinks. This is offically my first NSV!

    Day 5 P/o

I was sleeved on Monday and I'm super tired too. I felt better today after taking the B12 for the first time. Clearly, my incisions are healing because they are itchy. I was happy to get 40grams of Protein in today. Hoping the weekend will go well, both of the kids will be home instead of in school so I'm a little worried about overdoing it. I hope you feel better and get some rest!

    Pain And Nausea

I just got home from the hospital today. Surgery was Monday. Everyone is different but, I didn't have too much pain or nausea. They have meds to control both and I took advantage of them. Keep reading up on what to expect, the good and the bad. 90% of how you will feel is all about your mental attitude. Go into this fully informed with your eyes open. You'll come out on the other side just fine! Good luck!!!!

    March 19Th At 11:30Am

I understand the nerves. My husband got sleeved a year ago last week so I know what to expect and I'm still a little anxious. Decided to take my last ever trip the Lane Bryant today to buy a bra that doesn't have an underwire. I read somewhere on another post that one woman said that was one thing she wished she knew before surgery. To quote Bob Marley, "Everything little thing's gonna be alright". Good luck to all of us tomorrow. By Wednesday, I hope to hear that you are all well on your way to recovery and a brand new life with me.

    Insurance Approval!

Insurance came through with approval today. My surgery date is March 19th. I am totally excited and totally freaked out all at once! Looking forward to getting the surgery over with and moving onto the loser's bench. Pre-Op diet starts for real tomorrow!

    I Signed Consent Today!

I met with the surgeon and signed consent and paid my $300 program fee. Everything is now being sent to the insurance company. The lady told me it could take up to two weeks to get insurance approval but, I think my husband's approval only took 3 days. So, somewhere between 3 days and two weeks before I can get a surgery date. I am thinking that I am going to start the pre-surgical diet on Monday. They said to start it two weeks before surgery but, since I'm not 100% clear when that will be, I figure every pound I lose between now and then is a good thing. I guess we will be doing some massive kitchen cabinet purging this weekend!
  15. So, a month ago I posted that all of the tests were done. Would you believe it took A MONTH to get all of the test results back??? The cardiologist was a total pain. I called every day for several weeks. They finally gave me results yesterday which I took over to the surgeon's office right away. This morning, I spoke to the coordinator and she confirmed that everything is there and I am ready to sign consent. I should get a call tomorrow to set up the consent appointment. I am now one step closer and hopefully, I will be recovering from surgery within a few weeks! I will post again when I get a date for surgery!

    Ugh! Stupid Evaluation!

Don't underestimate the importance of the psych eval. My husband got the sleeve and at about the 6 month mark afterwards, went off the deep end and told me he wasn't sure we should be married anymore. Fortunately, we worked through it and we are well on our way to our 20th anniversary and I am going through the approval process for the sleeve now too. It's amazing how much eating and emotions go together and when you don't have food to turn to, you will need other coping skills. This will affect every aspect of your life and every relationship you have. The psych eval will be worth every penny. Having someone to help you understand what emotions you are going to deal with will be very helpful. Definitely check with your surgeon, they may have a less expensive suggestion. Good luck!!!!

    Final Appts This Week....

I am completing the final appts for my clearance this week. I had the last regular weigh in with my PCP today. She is signing off on my clearance letters and sending them to the surgeon. The Pulmonologist is signing off on clearance as well. I have a stress test and echocardiogram on Thursday, ultrasounds on Friday and the endoscopy on Tuesday. Final bloodwork and urinalysis was completed today. It's getting real now. I expect to sign consent and submit the package to insurance sometime next week. . If all goes well, my Valentine's Day date will be my surgeon and my gift to myself will be a lovely little stomach. We went out to dinner tonight and I definitely overdid it. I feel ridiculously full and uncomfortable, like Thanksgiving dinner full which is not good. I am looking forward to starting the pre-op diet. Hopefully, it will feel like a cleanse and get me ready for this surgery and what's to come. Hope everyone else is doing well. I will update when I get clearance and a date.

    The Starting Point

Well, it's January 1st. Normally, I'd try to make some resolution to lose 20 lbs and get in shape but, this year, I'm skipping the resolutions. They never come to pass. I always fall off the wagon a few weeks into the year. I'm done beating myself up over failures. In August 2011, I started the process for the sleeve. I am down to just a few more appointments over the next couple of weeks and my package can be submitted for approval. I am scared and excited all at the same time. As of today, here are my stats: Height: 5'4" Weight: 226.2 lbs BMI: 38.8 Measurements: Waist: 48" Chest: 48" Hip: 50" Arm: 14" Thigh: 26" Calf: 16" I turn 40 on Dec 6th. With the help of the sleeve, I hope to weigh 125 lbs by then. Wish me luck!
  19. My husband had surgery last March. He's down almost 80 pounds and has gone through 3 new wardrobes. You will wear that sweater and the minute you put it on and it's too big, you'll feel great. There will be a couple of weeks where the 2X is the size you need. Enjoy it! It will be smaller than a 3X sweater. When it's too big, donate it. Make an event of donating those clothes, you won't ever need them again! Look forward to when you go shopping in a regular store and buy something off the rack! Some people might think its vain but, it isn't. This isn't an easy way out, it's a hard decision to make and you will have to do some hard work after the surgery to come to terms with your new lifestyle. It isn't easy but, it's worth it. I am going to get the sleeve in February. After seeing all of the positives my husband has experienced this year, I cannot wait to experience them myself. And most of all, I can't wait to go into Victoria's Secret, and buy something sexy, right off the rack. :) Good luck, and wear that sweater proudly. Your mom was actually thinking ahead for you, she wasn't thinking of where you would end this journey, but only that you would be a 2X in February when it will be cold enough to need a cashmere sweater. By March, you will be shopping again.
  20. My husband was sleeved there last March by Dr. Vulpe. They were fantastic!
