Anyone? Am I The Only One In April?
MikeinMD replied to scorpiolady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Looks like we are having surgery the same day. For me the 6 months went pretty fast. Good luck to you. -
I have a friend who is a Medifast "Health Coach" that I will see tomorrow. I will discuss it with him but for now I am leaning toward the Protein shakes but I will need to see my options and costs.

Had my pre-surgery class tonight and I will be going on a 2 week "meal replacement" diet prior to surgery. I have a couple of options either Protein Shakes or medifast. With both I will have 5 high Protein shakes, bars etc. and a "lean and green" dinner. Its funny because one of the limitations is under 100 grams of carbs which I don't think will be too bad. I survived Atkin's back in the day so hopefully all will be good. My birthday is this week and I have a bunch of parties etc. this weekend and then I start on the 2 week plan on Monday.

Hi I'm Mike and I am from Maryland. I just got my surgery scheduled for April 16th and the countdown has begun. I have had varying success with weight loss over the years having lost around 100 pounds 3 different time but in each case ran out of steam and ended up putting it back on. My surgeon said I had to lose 30 - 50 pounds before surgery and so far I have lost a little over 66 pound but the going is getting tough. I want to be below 400 before surgery so I need to lose 16 more pounds before the 16th. My reason for the band is to improve my health and be able to increase my activity. There are so many things i want to do but just can't right now. In addition to watching my diet in the last 6 months I have been exercising by swimming and walking at the pool for 1.5 - 2 hours at least 3-4 times a week and that has made a real difference. Tonight I decided to see what a difference the exercise and weight loss has made by walking up a 6 story parking garage (up the ramps) and was able to get to the top and not be completely out of breath, Small NSV. Hope to hear everyone's story.

Also of note, those number include all people regardless of other health conditions. Many people going for this surgery have lots of underlying conditions that brought them to this point. I have been blessed because I should have tons of things wrong with me at my weight. My doctor said the higher the BMI, the higher the risk but not having any other the other issues like diabetis, heart disease or high blood pressure significantly reduces the rate.

I am another April person. Just got my date and I will be banded Monday April 16th. My doctor tld me I had to lose 30 - 50 pounds before he would operate on me and so far I have lost 66 but it seems like it is getting harder. My goal is 82 (want to be down to 400) before surgery and since I have to go on the liquid diet 2 weeks before I think I may make it. I will jump over and check out the other group. -

Funny thing is you never know. I dated a lady a couple of time 6 years ago and it just faded. I ended up meeting someone else and getting married. Wife took off, I got divorced and ended up meeting up with the old friend and we are now going on 5 months together. You just never know. -
I know there are probably not too many people that would need clothes this large even here but I hate to just get rid of them if someone needs them. I have a bunch of jeans (may be a little tattered at the cuffs) and a bunch of chino type pants. All henmmed to either 29 or 30. Will give to Goodwill if no takers but I doubt they will be able to move them if I do donate. Just ask you to pay the shipping where ever they go.

200lbs Gone After My Lap Band Surgery !
MikeinMD replied to Cazzy's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Absolutely amazing work. You have inspired me. I will have my surgery in April and really want to lose 100 pounds before surgery but would be happy with 80. After that, I have a goal of 100 pound in the year after my surgery but after seeing this, that sounds like it could be conservative. Of course, I will need the dedication that you have. At this point, 8 miles on a bike sounds like a dream. Thanks for posting. -
200-250... Ouch. What Are Your Goals!? Motivation.

I have not been banded yet but have lost 45 pounds so far in the first 2 months of my insurance required diet. Today i was packing for a trip and was in the closet and started getting rid of my really, really large clothes. Took out a bunch of waist size 68 and 70 pants and will say goodbye to all but maybe one pair so I have something to compare against later. We can all be the biggest loser if we just take it slow and steady one day at a time.
