Feb Sleevers 2012 How Much Have You Loss/ Any Concerns
ShoeLover replied to andkel30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I've done ok - I'm now at the halfway mark, 60 pounds lost, 60 pounds to go. -
"What's shakin, bacon?" - it actually is used mainly as a greeting, the guy probably thought he was being clever - by saying something that rhymes. It really was probably just a harmless remark.
-
I'm a little bit jealous that you lost over 60 lbs in 3 months - but you look good. I see that your feet have thinned down too.
-
I usually go about every other day or so - the thing I've noticed is that I don't go through nearly as much toilet paper as I used to.
-
Monistat also makes an anti-chafing gel that I have used in the past, and it is great. I bought it at Walmart.

Coordinaters Who Talk Smack..
ShoeLover replied to meadowesky's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I do believe that the doctors in Mexico employ coordinators to assist them in getting US patients, but I don't think they get involved in the methods that the coordinators use. Dr Garcia does not speak English very fluently, he speaks some, but he still can communicate pretty well. The coordinators usually represent more than one doctor. Also, I had a couple of issues with A Lighter Me, but I did not let that deter me from choosing Dr. Garcia. I am glad that I chose him, I've had absolutely no problems since my surgery, and I spoke with a lot of his previous patients before I made my decision. I had to go thru A Lighter Me in order to be able to use my FSA to pay for the surgery. -
Do U Now Look Older?
ShoeLover replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've noticed that some of the people who get the RNY surgery look a little dried out, skin wise. But I haven't seen that in sleevers. I suppose its because of the vitamin deficiency in the RNY patients. -
Exactly what do you mean by "going out of the US is not what others make it seem".....please do not make blanket statements like this, it can be confusing to the newbies on this board.
-
There is no way that you are a failure - you have done really well, I hope and pray that I get as far as you have. You will get to your goal with a little diligence, no doubt.

Ok, so I am 15 weeks out from surgery, and I have lost 53 pounds so far. When I started, I was wearing a tight size 22 in pants, 2x in tops. Now I am wearing a somewhat loose 20 in pants, and 1x in tops - shouldn't I have lost more sizes than that considering the amount of pounds that I lost? I was hoping to be wearing a 16 in pants by now.

Not Losing Sizes Fast
ShoeLover replied to ShoeLover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks ladies, I guess I'm just anxious because I'm going on vacation next month, and I want my friends who haven't seen me in a year to be wowed by my new figure. My numbers look great scale-wise, but I still see a fat girl when I look in the mirror. I'll work on that. Good luck to you, Welittle1, hopefully you'll be scheduled soon. -

Gabby, chica you looking good. I'm a little ticked because I've seemed to have run into a stall. I am hoping to be down to 220 by the 4th of July. -
Is This A Problem For Anyone Else?
ShoeLover replied to It's all new's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ugh, this. I'm sorry, I can't get with people picking on others just because they decided to do something to improve THEIR life. I'm sorry. I can't do the kumbaya, hand-holding thing with someone who is being spiteful to me. Now, I understand going the psychology route if it's a spouse, because you have to get along with them, but someone who is just a so-called friend can kiss my rapidly slimming a$$. Sorry. I'm not trying to offend anyone. To be clear, I am not talking about a friend who goes on about their life and eats what they want to in front of me, I have no problem with that. I am talking about someone who goes out of their way to make nasty remarks. -
Is This A Problem For Anyone Else?
ShoeLover replied to It's all new's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I limit my interactions with people who are not supportive....and if that's not possible, when they start talking about food, I start talking about how much better I feel now that I've given up junk, how much weight I've lost so far, how good I'm starting to look, etc. just to annoy them the way they're trying to annoy me. -
Memorial Day, And My Regret.
ShoeLover replied to Pookeyism's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I served in the Texas National Guard, I barely got in because of my weight, and once I was in, my weight was always an issue, especially since I had a hard time passing the PT tests. While I was in the National Guard, I met my husband, who was a Desert Storm veteran. He has since passed on, and I don't wanna get too sad thinking about it, but I had to respond to this post in his remembrance on this holiday. -
74 Days Post Op...ok To Drink Alcohol
ShoeLover replied to rizabonita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 months out now, but I think I had my first post-op drink when I was 5 or 6 weeks out. I used to like to drink a glass or two of wine every night before the surgery, now I just drink when I go out, which has been 2-3 times a month lately. I try to stick to vodka instead of the sweet mixed drinks that I used to have. I definitely feel the alcohol a lot sooner, but the buzz doesn't last as long. -
2/20 was my date - Sunday was my three month surgiversary, I usually weigh on Saturday mornings, so last week my amount lost was 49.8 lbs. I can pretty much eat anything, and I feel hungry about an hour after I eat if I eat fruit, which I usually have for breakfast. So I guess I will need to make sure I eat protein at every meal. I have been excercising sporadically, I joined a bootcamp a month ago, but last week my outdoor allergies were severe so I've missed a few workouts.

Stopping Bc Pills For Surgery
ShoeLover replied to Finding Myself's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first period after surgery was kinda crazy, but the last one was pretty normal. I'll probably start a new pack later this month. I stopped taking mine to lessen the chances of a blood clot as well. -
Stopping Bc Pills For Surgery
ShoeLover replied to Finding Myself's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stopped taking my pills after I completed my last pack, and then I had surgery a month later. I still have not started them back yet, but I am not concerned about pregnancy - I was only taking them to regulate my cycle. -
My Story (Lengthy But Its Mine)
ShoeLover replied to bubblesbgood's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh my God, that is terrible. Just wow about that terrible surgeon. I am so sorry that you had to go through that. I am sending up prayers that your vsg surgery will be smooth and your recovery will be seamless. -
My Sleeve With Dr Garcia
ShoeLover replied to Glendaaus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I felt the same way - I asked Dr. Garcia if he actually did the surgery because I felt absolutely NO PAIN at all when it was over. I kept looking down at my bandages for confirmation. Today is my 3 month surgiversary and I am 49 pounds down!! -
Protein Powder You Can Mix With Water?
ShoeLover posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Hello, I am going to be going out of town soon and I would like to know what Protein powder is best for mixing with Water. I usually drink the ready-made shakes, I didn't want to bother with packing them and I don't have a refrigerator in my hotel room. So if anyone has any suggestions of powder that can be mixed with just water and ice in a shaker cup, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -
Short-Term Disability For Mexico Surgery
ShoeLover replied to Gastricsleeve4me's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was able to get both short term disability and use my FSA for my surgery in Mexico. I have an FSA credit card. I paid my deposit to Dr. Garcia out of pocket, and then charged the rest on my FSA card on the day of surgery. All I had to submit for the FSA was a letter of medical necessity, and an itemized listing of the services performed. You should be able to get that from your doctors coordinator. I could have also submitted the receipt from when I paid the deposit, but I decided to use the rest of my FSA funds for copays/prescriptions from my PCP.
