What Restaurants Accept The Lapband Id Card?
radarluv posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried and had success using you LB card for smaller portions? I see this being a problem getting verification of the program by management, servers, etc.- 29 replies

What Restaurants Accept The Lapband Id Card?
radarluv replied to radarluv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might want to call your doctor. Mine temporary card was in the packet given to me on surgery day. The I registered via phone. They do need to know what type of band Lapband you have implanted. Mine is "standard". They are now sending me an official ID card that I can keep behind my drivers license or use for discounts providing restaurants go for it. I have never been one to enjoy leftovers, so hopefully this will work. It is also good to have in case you are in an accident and police of medical personnel got through your wallet and see that you have an implant. I prefer not to wear medical jewelry. -

Looking For Walking Buddy In Chicago
radarluv replied to tokiesgirl6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, if I ever move back (and I am thinking about doing just that), I will revisit this thread. I lived off E. Randolph, but I will move back to South Loop if I decided to head back. The south side has been getting pretty bad, I've heard. Be careful out there. To bad you can't carry concealed. Have you looked into any of the free fitness classes in the summer around the Mill/Grant park area? There is always something going on as a group! Enjoy. You know those 100 degree days are few and far between, and soon it will be time to dig those boots out again! I predict a coooold winter this coming year. -
Looking For Walking Buddy In Chicago
radarluv replied to tokiesgirl6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wish I still lived there. I would. But heck, you don't need a buddy to walk there, too many people out anyhow. Do as you Chicagoans do and put your headseats in and move it. That city is F I T. There is motivation all around you. Don't forget about the volleyball tourneys on the beach all summer! Personally I would get my bike out and enjoy the summer riding along the lake! I miss it sooo much. Enjoy my favorite city, while I hole up here in the a/c in Texas! -
Hubby Can Only Take 1 Day Off Work!
radarluv replied to ssss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, now I see. Thanks, and that makes sense. It was such an easy surgery, and I have had a lot! I wasn't sure why the heck one would want or need to stay, but yes, that seems logical. I don't have sleep apnea, so I was not aware. -
Hubby Can Only Take 1 Day Off Work!

I sent my mom home less than an hour after I got home from the hospital (outpatient) and I have been good to go since. It is not that bad. I have no idea why they would make a patient stay in the hospital overnight, but to each Dr. his own, I suppose. If you need moral support, have your hubby take the surgery day off. Your parents may be more stressed than you. If you feel like you'd need physical support, then have him stay home on day 2, BUT, unless you have secondary health issues that wold make this more complicated than others, you should be quite mobile. -
oops, sorry, just saw you said no broth...weird. And I thought I had it tough with JUST broth.... wonder what the point of that is.
-
Won Ton soup. Minus the wontons. I know, I know, you're thinking that chicken broth would be the same. Well, when you are on only clear liquids, the difference between chicken broth and wonton soup broth is HUUUGE.

No one said they were amazing (I did say you could find them on AMAZON, did you confuse amazing for amazon?). But they are pretty close to amazing anyhow, compared to the shakes. Plus you get a good dose of Protein, which does fill you up

Alcohol Two And A Half Weeks After Surgery?
radarluv replied to Carpe Diem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For those of you that preach no carbonated drinks remember, each Doc is different. My doctor says that carbonated drinks are fine, stating that a lot has changed in bariatrics since the beginning. I am not a soda drinker, so that was not an issue for me, but I do love an occasional local beer or two. Perfectly OK. I wouldn't push the rules that you doc gave you on anyone (he may be old school and hesitant on change). Just do as your own doc says and you'll be fine. -
Ill be getting on the Magic when you are getting off-We sail August 12th, less that one month after banding. EEk. Only 1 person on that cruise knows I had the band done, and it is a family cruise. They will not have seen me since before my pre band diet. So far I ahve lost 16 pounds just from that. I will be getting some strange looks from the fam.
-
Yep, I was warned about this. About 2 weeks after surgery we have to endure bandster hell. Sheer willpower, just like before. shakes really do help. If you are sick of them, go out and buy the Protein shots. I can't stand the shakes, so I exclusively do the shots. They do keep you full! For those in the know, Is it ok that I am eating about 7 SF popsicles in a day. They said I could have as many as I wanted. I found some amazeballs banana SF popsicles. They are awesome!

Just now reading this! I was the one in the pre and post op room with Harmony:) She went in before me an had her cocktail. She said she wanted to "party" after. Ya, she was on the good stuff that I was not fortunate to have had...yet. Shortly there after, I got the good stuff an i was also ready to "party"! Bahaha! Were were in recovery together and chatting across the room to each other, so the nurses finally moved me to a recover recliner next to her so we could open the curtain. We both did awesome according to the nurses and were ready to go faster than most they told me. I refused the extra pain meds as all I wanted to was get home. I told the nurse that if feeling this good was any indication than I would be ready to go back to my flying gig asap. The nurse said "well let's see how you feel tomorrow". ha! Fast forward to the next day....ouch! Apparently anesthesia made me feel like wonder woman on the first day. Now I am the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Memorial Hermann Southeast gets a 10 out of 10! As does Dr. Hollis and his mad skillzzz.

It's all over now. I made it to the flip side. I am getting around fabulously. Only a little shoulder pain. Nothing else feels abnormal! If you are worried, don't be, Piece of cake!

My nutritionist from the Dr.'s office said that people have what's they call "last meal syndrome", where they will literally go out and eat a hamburger the day before. She said that they know when people do this as the liver tells all, apparently.
