Lapband Changing My Life
radarluv replied to darbydoo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could have driven my own self home if allowed. You won't need help there. It's not complicated. Not as complicated as your relationship, and you might have your OWN new outlook on that after you start losing weight and gaining back your confidence. -
Do not use Bay Choice for your LB procedure. Although Dr Hollis is a wonderful doctor, the NP will make your life a living hell. The disorganization by her to the point of causing me trouble at work due to inefficiencies from paperwork is a common theme here. Just browse the internet. Her name is Beth and she has a reputation that is beyond unsatisfactory. I have absolutely no idea how she remains employed. Save your sanity. I am back at the TR surgery center, where I am now very satisfied.

Went On A Cruise And Ate Dirt On A Atv. Flipped Over Landed On Port Side
radarluv posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ATV through the rain forest after a good rain, messed around too much and flipped it. I flipped ofer top and landed on my newly ported belly. Not too much pain, but I had band and hernia surgery almost 3 weeks to the day. Are the ports pretty tough, I mean can they take a good beating? I still feel it under the skin. What do I need to do to ensure i am in good shape.? -

radarluv replied to radarluv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I left my Dr. due to the nurse. SO now I need to contact True Results and see if I can get a new dr. I will NOT go back due to he on the staff, even though he is a fabulous Dr. -

Tender Port Area - 3 Weeks Post Op
radarluv replied to harmony11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Haha! Not crazy silly. I remember one thing that was said, the pocket where the port is in women is shallower then men. nearer to the surface where it was places on you ad me. The incision is quite a bit to the left of the port. When I got my fill, I was surprised because it wasn't close to the incision. Since we have the same doc. I did overhear that ports are placed all over the place, just varies by doc. -
Got Approved Today! Time To Quit Talking And Do It!
radarluv replied to fostermomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cannot stress enough how happy I was to find protein shots! Walmart! I was about to throw my shake at someone after a few days! -
Wow, I'm speechless (almost), that you can write all that and not see something very wrong there. You're gaining weight because you are coming off "speed" that you didn't need. If you were ADD you would not have had those side effects. It does the opposite to me. You should start with a therapist. I have gone to one for my weight issues. Therapist can recommend a good shrink to combat any other issues you might have, but step away from the pharmacist and a GP to treat mental issues, they are not supposed to prescribe ADD meds anyhow. This is why pharmacy's are always out. From abusive doctors ant patients.

This does not sound right. I am ADD, and took aderall prior to surgery (worried about it now as it is ER). It is an EXTREMELY difficult drug to get prescribed. You would have to been psychologically evaluated and diagnose which is rare as an adult. Unless your boss was getting it illegally for you. You should report him. And 60mg a day, haha. This doesn't add up. I think maybe a good therapist would be a better start.

Does TR Houston Surgicenter do fills using flouroscopy (sp?) I have had a fill through my hospital, and I prefer the machine.

How Soon After Surgery Can I Go Jet Skiing? (Realistically)
radarluv replied to Lapbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also wondered about this very thing. My doc is chilled too. I didn't specifically ask about jet skiing, but the issue with infection, in their eyes is a non-issue after a week, even encouraging whirlpool to help gas pains. It has only been 3 weeks for me and I feel perfectly capable of jet-skiing. I am pretty proficient at it though and don't fall often. -
Alcohol Two And A Half Weeks After Surgery?
radarluv replied to Carpe Diem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drank after about 2 weeks. Careful, it creeps up on you. All is well. -
How In The World Do I Get 1100 Calories Into 1 Day?
radarluv posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am hearing that you need 11-1200 calories a day in order to lose weight. I am probably getting in 300-500. I has only been a week and half since surgery, so i don't have a lot of options. i am only allowed full liquids. Not even mushies. I am drinking Protein shots which are low cal several times a day and a lot of Water. Suggestions? -
How In The World Do I Get 1100 Calories Into 1 Day?
radarluv replied to radarluv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, that's what I thought, but instead they scheduled my first fill early 8/8/12. I am very excited about this as I do not wanna go through bandster hell. I do not want to cheat. I am ready to be a success. Just that i have read a couple times that people eating under 1100 wimm maintain while going at 100, will lose. doesn't manke total sense to me, but if that is how it is, so be it. -
i went through TR, but I am united to they had to send me to Dr. HollisBut I would trust TR surgicenter for my after treatment. They were great to me!

My PCP was thrilled and said she had seen vast improvements in her patients with lapband. And I was at 206. SHe understood that this could take me off my blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol meds. I just adore her because she is compassionate and wants me healthy, instead of keeping me on her prescribed drugs prolonging me as a chronic patient.

How Long Should The Clear Bandage Stay On Over My Incisions?
radarluv replied to A New New Dawn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No, I have a super glue like substance on and it ain't going no where. I had surgery 7/19 and that glue is still tight. Even bathing, sweating, etc. Glad I didn't have to deal with the gauze. Email or call your doc. -
I think it depends on the hospital. My nurses said they had never seen someone wanna get out of there so fast. I recover quick. I have had a lot of surgeries. I wan in at 0630 and out my 11am. I felt really awesome. Th only pain I have (still) is trapped shoulder gad. HEATING PAD IS A MUST. It helped more than gas X (which is only for intestinal gas), or pain meds. I went back to work today, I worked four flights and the gas made me feel like I was having a heart attack. I would have been able to go back to work in 2 days, but since my job is in a pressurized environment, I think I had an extraordinary hard time. You will do great. A lot of times it is mind over matter.
-
The heating pad relieved the trapped shoulder gas more so than pain meds, walking or gas x, combined. I don't think it gets enough credit, so I wanted to make it a topic to be seen. I slept with it and moved around with it as much as possible. Give it a try.

I work for an airline and my job is extremely physical. I lift a lot of weight oush and pull extremely large objects, open and close aircraft doors that weigh 100's of pounds and my Doc said it was perfectly fine to return to work in 10 days. Besides some port pain, I am ready to go, as I a bored. I also had a large hiatal hernia repaired.
