    Long-term Study

so the people studied got banded from 2000 to 2005? The band is a different beast now. That and I agree that the band is meant for motivated people. It's a tool.

    Uuuggghhhh Time Is Sooo Slow!!!

thats throwin' me off too? do you mean May 15th?
  3. I've heard of similar experiences. It's all about the amount of calories you eat and the amount of activity you have that burns those calories. But you have to eat the right amount of calories to match the activity you do on a daily basis. If you are consuming 1000 calories but you have a mild work out 3-5 days a week, most would say that you would burn 3k of calories on that kind of diet/exercise plan... What was your bariatric doctor's thought on it? if you havent seen him, perhaps you should have a checkup!

    My 6 Months Are Up!

Congrats! I finished my 6 months in April, after that I met with the surgeon, then with the psych doc, then went to an education class. I got my approval Wednesday and the surgeon's office got it Thursday, and I'm scheduling my surgury first thing Monday morning! I'll be banded by the end of June!

    Swollen 2 Swanky-Newbie Here!!

Will Power <----- Two words to remember. As is the fact that the band is a tool that will assist you in losing the weight, but ya gotta watch what you eat and you should start some kind of an exercise plan, even if it's just walking...

    So Irritated!

So my insurance sent over approval Thursday morning and I got an email at 3:50pm Thursday saying that I was approved and they were forwarding my chart to the scheduler....the scheduler decided to call me right before they flipped the phones over to the answering service and she says "I won't be in tomorrow so if I dont talk to you today I'll call you Monday...by the way the dr. is booked up to June 26th at the main hospital, now he is adding a new surgeon on June 1st so I could talk to him to get you in an earlier date because of that..." So of course i can't call her back since its now with the answering service. But that irritates the $*it out of me. I've emailed my irritation with the case work and asked her to call me in the morning because I shouldnt have to wait until Monday to schedule the surgery.....  arrrrggggg
  8. Yeah I was approved just waiting for my case worker to call me with a date. My surgeon will get me in and out within four hours.

Men's Issues With Lap Band Surgery

If the added weight sits on the bladder it could result in needing to use the bathroom more frequent...according to my doctor.
  14. I have Geha...im a govt employee...the one downfall is the surgery has to be in the main hospital vs the outpatient building...

    Still Struggling

Stacy I'm going to be banded in June this year...I know you'll succeed, just keep at it and find some better foods to eat...YOU CAN DO IT!
  20. I agree. I dig isopure quite a bit. My surgeon pimps out "Bariatric Fusion" vitamins and protein drink...i'd rather get products I can get from GNC.
  21. my insurance said sleep apnea was a co-morbidity. Basically anything that can be caused by being overweight. My insurance didn't think my herniated disc was a co-morbidity..though I bet if i weighed 100lbs lighter it wouldnt affect me the same, nor do I think I'd necessarily have it.
  22. 1. I'm 36 years old. 5'10", 265 lbs. Have severe sleep apnea. 2. I was only 5-10 pounds overweight through age 18 and then 10-15 pounds overweight throughout college. I really packed on the pounds after college and was a bachelor 3. I am not married and have a 2 year old son that I need to be around forever. If I don't lose the 100-110 lbs I'm gonna live a low quality life. Since he is two. I have a good 2-4 years to lose the 110 lbs and then he'll be at an age where I can ride roller coasters with him, sit comfortably in an airplane with him, and share other experiences with him that would be near impossible (or at least difficult) being 100-110 lbs over weight.
