To Tell Or Not To Tell That You've Had Lapband Surgery Or Wls(Weight Loss Surgery)
difa replied to lafaye999's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sorry to hear this. My wife was banded last October, so she's my support system. I have no intentions on telling my parents or sibilings and it really makes no sense to tell any friends. My work thinks I'm going in for hernia repair. -
I've cheated some...still zero fat food...and I still lost poundage.
-
so far I've lost 5 pounds (in a weeks time)
-
a lot of it is eating the right foods...eating healthy foods at 1500 calories is different than half good and half bad at 1500
-
Everyone is different. It depends on if you are following the lap-band diet (so to speak) and if you are exercising any. There's one person on here who lost 50lbs in 3-4 months because when he was allowed he was exercising 3-5 days a week and eating a high protein, very low fat diet.
-
so if my pre-op diet is 2 weeks of a liquid diet..then in reality its more like a month...because you are on liquids two weeks after as well. I really think its needs to be more of a realistic pre-op diet than 2 weeks.
-
why is it that some doctors only want one or two days of a liquid diet and some want two weeks or more? I don't get it.

Is The Band Really Failing You, Or Are You Failing The Band?
difa replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
there are some that follow a lapband diet Sunday through Friday and splurge some on Saturday. You should be able to eat most (depending when you had your fill last). It's all about the quantity you have eaten. If you are eating like you should 6 days a week and then on that seventh you splurged some, then you should be fine. -
Congrats everyone!

I feel like I should post this here because I don't think there's a topic elsewhere where I can get something off of my chest. I met my wife in 2005 (spring) and we got married in 2008. We had a fairly active sex life amazingly until we got engaged and married. After we got married the sex went to a standstill. My wife had a back injury in 2004, but that didn't prevent her and I from having a healthy sex life through 2008. We didn't have sex between October 2008 through August 2009. In July 2009 she had surgery on her back and a month later we decided we would have a kid and she agreed that it probably would like a few months a week before she got pregnant and she agreed we would have to be more active sexually. Believe it or not she got pregnant after we had sex once. So she was pregnant and we didn't have sex for the next 10 months or so, and then she had our son and after healing from giving birth to our son she then didn't want to have sex because she didn't feel sexy (no matter what i did, or said, it didnt matter). Now fast forward to Fall 2011 and she got the lapband but still doesn't feel sexy and has told me that she just needs to lose more weight so she can feel better about herself. I'm getting banded June of 2012. I will lose 100-110 lbs and I will weigh around 155-165. For some reason I have a feeling that even at the point a year down the line or so, she would have lost at least 100 lbs, I think she will then say that all the excess skin makes her feel unsexy and we still won't have a sex life.... I simply don't know what to do about this. She was overweight when I met her, when we got married and when she had our son. I loved her then and i do now. I tell her regularly through way beyond words. I'm not at the end of my rope. I just don't know what to do.

I get banded on June 4th...so my banded journey starts soon. -
oh I had the 6 months diet from november to april...my date was set for June 26th for the surgery but I got it moved up.
-
So my surgery date has been moved up from June 26 to June 4th! Talk about a move up! So now I'm starting my liquid diet, getting my blood drawn in the morning and see doctor tomorrow afternoon to 2nd appointment!

First off while anyone getting the band effects the entire family, you shouldn't ask others to eat in another room. If it bothers that they are eating around you and you are near the kitchen then I'd get further away from that temptation. Now if he is bringing the food into the living room (outside the kitchen) then I'd ask politely... My wife has the band and I don't yet and we have a son. My wife sits around us all the time while we are eating and it doesn't seem to bother her. Roles reversed I wouldnt put someone out (or into another room be cause I had to be in that room and didn't want to be around them while they are eating. You won't be able to do that in every situation you are in (IE Work for example).

One Year Post Op, No Results. Please Help

You will succeed. I know this because you know where your problems lie. The next step is facing them headon. Get a counsellor and get assistance with the head hunger and the throwing up. Then get on a meal plan that will work with your band, then get on an exercise plan that will work with your band, and you will lose weight.
