http://www.toledoblade.com/State/2012/05/11/Obese-9-year-old-boy-removed-from-Ohio-home-sheds-50-lbs.html So an eight year old was taken out of his home because his mother didn't assist her son in losing weight. At one point he weighed 216lbs. He was placed in a foster home and then in his uncle's home when he turned nine and his uncle got him to a gym 3 days a week and got him swimming and playing basketball and now he is back with his mother with supervised care. YMCA gave the kid a free membership and he's down to around 165. The normal weight for a nine year old is around 60 pounds. Hopefully he'll continue to lose weight. thoughts?

make sure you do your research regarding how some studies show how the lack of ghrelin isn't permanent... -
As I lose weight I will unfriend anyone who makes negative comments.

congrats Cooper! Good Luck on your journey. I lost 15lbs between my preop diet and the first month post op. I got my first fill 5 weeks after i was banded. My first fill I was given 3cc's. I started to feel some restriction 3 days after getting my fill.

you have to make sure you get in your daily calories....my wife has this same problem with the band..skipping lunch or dinner. sometimes you just have to make sure you get your calories. You'll get past this. i believe in ya!

In the morning I usually have a couple services of low fat cottage cheese with a little bit of sea salt in it.

You are going to play it tough. Eat low to no sugars. Eat LOW CARB, and eat high Protein. salad with chicken for lunch (grilled chicken) with very light dressing is a good lunch option. eat a low to no fat Breakfast and do the same for dinner. to beat cravings between you need to drink a big glass of luke warm Water. Luke Warm water fills you up and curb cravings. COLD water will rehydrate you quicker but does less to curb your appetite. If you need ... must eat something, you need to eat a very low or low calorie food...a fruit or veggie, or something with low calories and high protein, like a Protein Bar or some almonds (ONE SERVING). You can do this!

Congrats and good luck on your journey. -
I agree with your doctor. You can definitely be OVERFILLED.

I need to lose a total of 100 lbs. I've stopped weighing myself. But I have days where after using the restroom that I feel like I lost that much weight. I guess its just my dietary changes that I'm feeling.
-
So I just had my first fill and got 3cc. Woohoo
-
my allergan book says I have the large band. So I'm guessing 14cc band

I had a protein shake after getting my fill and it reminds me just after surgery how I could feel everything empty out of the pouch....I LOVE THAT FEELING!

I love my fitbit, though I didnt wear it last week. I find if I wear it, I obsess over it a bit. I've found that after a week wearing it that I still do what I need to do, but I really don't obsess with it, just pay a little too much attention to every detail of my journey (does that make sense)?

Perhaps I'm hoping my results will be more than what reality is. I'm 5'10" and weighed 265 back on June 4th. I weigh 252 today (though with clothes on the doctor's office had me at 254). I'm anxious to lose weight.

I must say this. I had my surgery done by Dr. Stan Hoehn. Great surgeon. I had my first fill by Dr. Hamilton. I was hoping Dr. Hamilton was liberal on the fills because I had a hunch Dr. Hoehn was fairly conservative based on my wife who was banded last late october. I consider 3cc's fairly liberal, and I'm guessing I'll get another 3cc's next month. I'm hoping to be down 50lbs by end of december.

Post Surgery...will You Have To Get Fills And Unfills The Rest Of Your Life?
difa replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There have always been doomsayers. Back in 1999 (july to be more specific) my grandmother asked me to go to her non-denominational church. This guy was preaching about how the y2k bug was going to bring the end of the world and how all the computers would go offline and that planes have computers on them and they would have problems. This guy went on for 90 minutes. At the end of the service. My grandmother introduced me to the man and she mentioned how I was just finishing up college with a communications degree and that led him to tell me his daughter was in school and when I asked what for, he said computers (IT). I said "oh well thats nice" but I wanted to say ... why? wouldnt that be a waste if the world was coming to the end and the y2k bug was going to destroy our computer infrastructure. My point is that the same can be say for anyone depending on insulin, or other kinds of medicene's because of a major surgery, etc. The world will continue to turn, we are a strong people, we will continue. If all else fails the Fluid in your band will disappear overtime and you'll have strong willpower because no one will have money and you won't be able to go to mcdonalds to get a $100.00 cheeseburger.
