Just Got Sleeved.... And The Scale Is Not Moving Yet?
Tif 2.0 replied to imknothatgirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I gained 6 lbs in the hospital. Came home and started my period (sorry TMI, I know) gained another 3 lbs. Went to my 1 week post up follow up appt and lost all of that after a week. I was sleeved 1/27/12, and had my 1 week follow up on 2/3. I stepped on the scale this morning and had lost another 8 lbs from Friday. It will happen. -
Today is YOUR day! What an Awesome thing for your surgeon to say! Good luck! I will send thoughts and prayers that all goes well for you today and your recovery.

Congrats!

My surgeon didn't require me to do a pre-op diet, but I did one on my own. I had a liquid diet for 2 meals and then one meal was protein and veggie. I only did it for a week, because I got my approval 1 week before surgery date. I still lost 6 lbs and my surgeon was really happy.

Anyone Have Any Size 22 Or 20 Jeans They Don't Need Anymore? Also,if Anyone Needs Size 24,i Have Lots To Give!
Tif 2.0 replied to AllForMy4's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I need some size 24's. I went from a 30 pre op to a 26/28 and I have no 24's at all. You can email me at tgulbransen@hotmail.com, If you want to ship them. If not, no big deal. -
Only my incisions are itchy and that's because they are healing. I have noticed my skin is drier though and I use the Gold Bond Ultimate on the dry patches.

Swallowing Pills Whole
Tif 2.0 replied to SecretStarr82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was never told to crush my pills. The only med I have that would be crushed is my Reglan, but it's so small I just swallow it whole. My chewable vitamins I just nibble on until they are gone, same with my chewable Iron and Calcium (those two not at the same time though, I know.) -
Survey: Heparin Pre & Post-Op
Tif 2.0 replied to ampage1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I received shots both pre and post op. -
So yesterday, I went for a 1 week follow up/wound check. My incisions look great and they even pulled the steri-strips off. The surgeon told me again, the pain is normal and should lessen everyday little by little. I weighed myself on my scale and it said -6.8 lbs lost. Dr.'s office scale says -5.5 lbs. This was not the same scale at the surgical center. This morning, I got on the scale and I lost 3 more lbs from yesterday. Can I just use my scale since I'm not going to be seeing my surgeon again for 6 more weeks? LOL!

Drinking With A Straw
Tif 2.0 replied to mariemadeline's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use a straw for my water. It is easier to get my water in and I don't find myself gulping extra air. -
I'm doing pretty well except for the pain. When I move certain ways it feels like my insides are tearing. It's not a constant pain but it does hurt. I've found that when walking if I hold the left side of my belly kind of pushing it up, it helps relieve some of the pain I have while walking. I've stopped taking the lortab but it still hurts. No nausea, no gas pains, can drink relatively normal sized drinks. Sleevy McSleeverson has tolerated everything I have put in my mouth. No real hunger pains. I do need to drink some more Water though.

Tif 2.0 replied to LacieMC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll try to be there too. -
LOL, Thanks gals. Sipping was drilled into my head pre op, so here I was thinking it was just me. Circa, you and I were sleeved on the same day.

Dr David Suh- Murrieta/corona, Ca
Tif 2.0 replied to starsleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I believe my mother in law used Dr. Suh for her bypass surgery about 10 years ago. She lives in Murrietta and I could've sworn that was her Dr. If it was, her wait time was a whole year, but please take into consideration that it was bypass and 10 years ago. -
You guys are AWESOME!!!! I wish I would've had a funeral for something, but I didn't. Except right now, I would literally kill for a bite of scallop. LOL! No joke, it's like my head is pissed that I didn't have a last meal or food funeral.

Does anyone else NOT really have a problem taking larger drinks of water? Not big gulps, but definitely bigger than a sip. The first couple of days I would get gas, but now, they are almost regular sized swallows.

Tif 2.0 replied to Nikki613's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm taking one full work week. I had my surgery last Friday and I return to work this coming up Monday. I have a desk job and I have strapping lads that i work with that will lift anything should the need arise. -
How Long For Approval?
Tif 2.0 replied to Stacey Nicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My paperwork was sent in on Jan 5th. I called them EVERYDAY M-F to see if they received it and finally on Jan 17th, they said they received it and then I waited two days, called on the 19th to see if it was approved. No status. January 20th was approval and i had my surgery on Jan 27th. I had BCBS Texas PPO. On the phone they tell you it can take up to 30 days, but one of the customer service people I had on the phone said that it literally takes about 3-5 days usually once they receive the paperwork. -
I'm late to the conversation, but don't go anywhere. You are allowed to have opinions whether the rest of us agree with them or not. Please don't let anyone ruin the board for you.

I did this yesterday. I also took 1/2 of a strawberry protein shake and added greek yogurt and blended for a smoothie and that came all right. It brought the sweetness of the shake down and the mellowed the tartness of the yogurt. I split it into two 'meals'.
-
I was on clear liquids for 2 days, but did them for 3, but I just wasn't hungry at all so I didn't drink as much as I should've and now I'm a little constipated. Passing gas just fine, but still constipated. I started full liquids yesterday and took some plain greek yogurt and blended in 1/2 a Protein shake and drank that for Breakfast and tolerated it fine. For lunch and dinner I had some Cream of chicken Soup with unjury unflavored protein made with skim milk and that went down just fine too. I haven't had any issues with gas pains or nausea (KNOCK ON WOOD). I know I need to increase my water intake. I do well when I remember, but it seems there's chunks of the day where I just forget. I do know that my head is craving scallops. It's almost like I'm pissed at myself I didn't have a 'last meal'. I told my hubs that when I'm healed and can eat regular food I'd like to go out for good scallops. I'll take 1 and he can have the rest. LOL

THANK YOU! I did email my surgeon this morning and he got back to me a few minutes ago and said it's all normal, don't push it and take some liquid advil 2 times a day for 3-4 days. He said in a few more days it shouldn't be as much of an acute pain as it is right now.
-
Well it's similar to what i felt after my c section and I really do feel fine other than that and when I take my liquid lortab it does lessen significantly.
-
That's so sweet. My 5 year old son is the same way. I lost 27 lbs on the pre op diet and he said "Mommy, I can give you bigger hugs." He told all of his friends at school that I had surgery to be healfy. LOL!

So I'm trying to gauge if what I'm feeling is normal, but my left side where I assume that my stomach is is still very tender and if I move in the wrong direction I feel like my insides are being ripped. If I'm sitting it's not bad at all. Walking is a little painful, but not overly so, but no bending over, no stretching my left arm. My right side, if it wasn't for the incisions, I wouldn't even know I had them. I don't feel them at all.
