waitingpatiently replied to feb27bandwoman's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
A friend of my daughter that I haven't seen since the surgery was over last night. When I walked in the room to greet her, the very first words were "WoW....you look nice"!! She was actually shocked and kept asking what I had been doing.(to loose the weight) It did make me feek good.....my family sees me everyday, so they don't tend to see the diffrence as easily. -

Taking A Short Road Trip A Month After Surgery
waitingpatiently replied to Megatron's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Same here...you should be good to go. If your diet of mushies brings any attention, just tell them you don't travel well and its best for you to keep your foods simple. Plus you will have seen your doctor at least once if not twice by then, so make sure to address any concerns then. -

Haven't Lost Weight In 3 Months... Advice
waitingpatiently replied to DaWnGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would suggest maybe using myfitnesspal to track your foods. See where you are at. Maybe you are having more than you realize. And make sure to measure all your food. You can also make the diary public to your friends and they can help advise you where you can make some changes. You can also see other peoples food diaries and get some ideas of thing that you might want to add to your diet. Have you tried the low carb/high Protein approach? Sometimes that works for people (like me) when other stuff doesn't. -

Has The Band Actually Worked For You?
waitingpatiently replied to OldMomOf3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I sure do!! This is really the only time that I am weak!! I can undo everything I have worked so hard for the whole month in just those few days. what I usually do is hold myself to my 900cal/40carbs/70 Protein all month long and then a few days before I know it will be an issue, I make a few homemade things that I can eat instead of grabbing the pre bought stuff. homemade chips, pepporoni chips and I will make a cookie out of almond flour. I will even grab a single serving bag of pork rinds. I make sure Snacks like nuts are available and already measured out. I will make sure I have fresh fruit in the house for my sweet tooth. I tend to crave carbs during this time, so I allow myself some of the healthy carbs I usually don't get to have . like a whole wheat pancake, or a bowl of oatmeal or even an english muffin. Then after 2 or 3 days.......I clear it all out....Anything not on my regular diet goes. Usually by having acceptable choices on hand, I find that I can minimize the damage done.

Slight "discomfort" In Throat
waitingpatiently replied to Sunshyne068's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think you definately need to get checked out. I know that must have been scary. As for the feeling in your throat. I have had one since I got my first fill. Best way to describe it is a lump in the back of my throat. Its there all of the time especially when its been a while since I ate. There isn't any pain associated with it but it is annoying sometimes.---I know I don't need a unfill; I only have 2cc. Anyway, if that is similar to what you are feeling, I just wanted to reassure you that its probably nothing to worry yourself about, but it is always best to get it checked out. -
March Bandsters!
waitingpatiently replied to princess77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The cruise was great!!! I did gain about 4 pounds but it was more about the choices that were available than quantity..like real pork bacon, where I would usually have turkey....or real scammbled eggs instead of just egg whites. Or since we were off the ship the whole day for excursions, we were at the mercy of what ever they had arranged for lunch....which was usually high fat/high carb.----so those things over the course of the week added up. When we ate in the restruarant at night it was much easier. I had more control to pick better foods and the portion sizes were perfect. I did endulge in a couple of Desserts (hadn't had that in months). But most nights I was full and had no problem passing.By my calculations, I was still under 1400 calories a day. (but I do start to gain at around 1200 calories)--but I thought with all the extra walking I would have been good.I would have actually thought I would have maintained weight while gone....so I was surprised to see a gain when I got back. But I kicked it up a knotch for the week after and was able to be back to pre-cruise weight in 10 days. If I did it again. I think I would replace Breakfast with a Protein shake instead......I think that was where the couple of extra pounds came from. -
Serious Advice/opinion Needed
waitingpatiently replied to SVM10's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Will you in anyway be changing how long it would take to pay your parents back? If you have agreed to a certain amount each month and you are able to pay them and the credit card then thats fine.....but it it one of those things of "I will pay you back as soon as I can" then I think they need to be paid in full first. The only way around it would be to talk to them and arrange something else.....but since you don't think they will approve of your surgery, I guess talking with them about paying them back later is not an option. If you haven't agreed to "how" you are going to pay them back, then I would figure out how much you can afford to pay them and still pay for the surgery...if they agree to the payment plan, then I think you are in the clear.....just don't make it something unfair like 10 a month. -

March Bandsters!
waitingpatiently replied to princess77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor is VERY CONSERVATIVE!!! Has been this whole process!! I'm 2.5 months out and only have 2cc. He didn't want to give me anything because I was going on a cruise...I finally talked him into 1 cc and when I did the drink test, of course everything went down as normal and then I talked him into 1cc more...so I got 2cc out of him...but it was hard fought. I go back this thursday (31st)for another one....not sure what I need though....I seemed to be doing ok in the weight loss department its slow, but steady. Everything is just so perfect right now...I don't want to mess with anything. oh btw----How strict is my doctor? he actually wants a FULL week of liquids after a fill, followed by a Full week of mushies before returning to regular food. -
What Should I Do?
waitingpatiently replied to SarahG0417's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gave up all calorie drinks, bad carbs, and started very light exercise (just to establish a routine). I also went ahead and started making sure to get my Protein in and experiented as to the number of calorioes and carbs that was going to be my "magic" numbers. I also stocked my pantry with everthing I tought I might need. (don't do this until you get insurance approval) I have a list that I will be glad to send you if you send me your email. It has been posted many times on here in the past but it is rather lenghthy -
I wouldn't worry about yet. Is it 6 fill over the lifetime? Or will it ever reset? Discuss it with the surgeon, but see if he will be a little aggressive with the first fill...kind of give you a head start. Nothing too dramatic, but if he's like my doctor....there is a little wiggle room to start with..my doctor was only going to give me 1cc on my first visit, I did talk him into 2cc but that was it. I go in this thursday for another. While you are there for your 1st fill explain to the sugeon the situation and ask him how much you would need to pay, if insurance wouldn't. Somethings there is a big difference between the two, and sometimes they won't give you the discount if you don't ask. Hopefully you will find the green zone in less than 6 fills, but you can start saving a little each month to help for for any additional fills. Or you may also want to check into a medical credit card. They usually have a low interest rate...mine is just 4 %.

Shakes That Taste Like Milk Shakes???
waitingpatiently replied to kwood803's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is my favorite: 1oz sf carmel syrup 1oz sfvanilla syrup 3oz skim milk (i recently tried the almond milk and that worked nicely too) 4oz favorite coffee (mine is keurig's butter toffee) 1 scoop Protein power blenderize with lots of ice----I know I have used enogh when the drink stops instantly when the personal bleander does. Tastes like a starbucks iceed coffee 130cal/2fat/7 carbs/15 protein -
Thats not silly! I would definately count that as a NSV! great job! You should uodate your surgery info. I went to see how long its been since your surgery and there wasn't anything there. And yes LBT has took the place of my facebook.---it seems like my world is revolving around the band and weight loss and frankly others get tierd of hearing about it. but on here, I love to hear everyone NSV and even their trails and errors....it seems like we all understand each other.---cool thing to be a part of.
