Sharp Pain While Walking & Bending

The most walking I have gone until today was around the house. But today I ventured out and had the same type pain. very sharp not exactly on top of the port, but close to it. Figure there is probably something in there stretching.....I think its normal, I have have read of several other having similar pains.

But today marks a full one week out, and I feel so much better!!! abdomen still is achey late at night and early morning. Today is sunshine and beautiful so I am heading out to soak some of it up. Enjoy your day everyone!!

    Not New But Needing Support

Hi Ky, You most be a very strong women to juggle that many responsibilities. Your family is very lucky to have you. I know the last few years have been rough and Im glad to see you have come though....brusied and scared....but survived. I always tell my kids if it doesn't kill you, it will make you a stronger person.....and I bet the same is true for you. It can' get any worse than you have already been through, so the only way left is up. I applaud you for taking control back and putting yourself first again. It is hard for us women to do that....we always put our husband, kids, parents, work...EVERYTHING ahead of ourselves...it has taken my a long time to realize, that I need to come first sometimes.....and when I take care of myself.....everyone else reaps the benefits too. Hang in there KY....plug back into the lapband site and continue to make yourself over again. If you ever need to talk please feel free to inbox message me. God Bless You

    Calorie Counting??

Other than a few patients that don't tolerate the high protein diet, I think its the more protein the better. I have a girlfriend that tends to develope kidney and gall stones quicker when she follows a high protein diet.

Bmi 27 And Considering The Lapband, Depressed

Welcome to the group dwolley. You will get a lot of stuff from this group but judgement isn't one of them. Let me start with we have all been there I have the same problem a will starve myself of food and kill myself with exercise and will get every last pound off. but the minute I return to a normal way of life (and by normal I mean 1300 calories and exercising 2-3 times a week) I gradually begin gaining weight. Eventually I gave up. I just couldn't live on 900 calories forever. So thats way I chose the band. It will make 900 alories possible. So be proud of yourself for maintaining a lower bmi...and seeking a longterm solution. I know a few people felt I wasn't "big enough" to have the surgery. I never could get them to understand that me being the size I am was strugge and that I knew if I didnt do something soon I would be "big enough" for the surgery. So applaud you for making the decision early on and not waitly until you have a bmi of 45 or 50. As for band slippage....I agree with jennybee, unless he dosen't have multiple size bands, he should be able to fit you with one that would work on lower bmi patients.

I bought tylenol cold----But the only actie ingredient is tylenol. I couldn't find just plain tylenol liquid.

    Calorie Counting??

my doctor says at least 60 grams protein and under 1000 calories. I know I won't lose very much at 1000 calories, so I have set 800-900 calories as a personal goal.

    March Bandsters!

Judych- Glad everything is going smoothly. I had mine on 3/19. Had 2 hernias repaired and a lot of adhesions removed. I think a was a lot more sore than I had prepared myself for. Took me an extra couple of days to recoup...but I'm feeling much better now. I am struggling with the all liquid diet now. I am very hungry and no its NOt head hunger. My stomach is grawling so hard and long that it has become painful. I finally ate a small amount of boiled pasta. I stomach instantly stopped grawling. I felt so much better. Its not something Im going to start doing all day, but Im just going to have to add a small amount of something to stop the hungry. I am still getting in all my protein with the new whey protein shots.

    Post Op Protein

In addition to using the new whey once a day.I also bought unjury unflavored protein power. I measure me out 2 scoops and sit it on the counter. All through the day I take a teaspoon out and mix it in my broth, jello, juices.....when my bowl is empty, I know I have enough protein in me. By mixing a little into everything, I don't notice it as much. Makes it much easier
  15. I was banded on the 19th as well.Im glad to hear others are hungry too!! My somach is grawling something awful! I though I just must not have much swelling since everything goes down easily with no problems. It going to be a long two weeks of liquids!! This is harder than the pre-op.

    Denied Lapband

yes i have. since lapband statistics say a person is likely to lose 50% of their excess weight most patients with a bmi 50+ would still be considered obese, many insurance companies feel that isn't enough weight loss to justify the money. Not that I agree....just what I have heard.

    Banded On Monday

I started protein on day 2 of post op...Mixing it in my broth. I can drink the cold stuff, but the warm stuff feels better on my tummy. I must not have very much swelling because I'm hungry! and my stomach is grawling so hard and much that it actually hurts. Its going to be a long 2 weeks of liquids

I Didn't Want Anyone To Know!!!

Try not to stress over it. It sounds like she is going to keep it private. I wonder why we have such a hard time telling people.....We walk around embarrassed for being over weight.....then we are embararrassed to admit we need help taking control and doing what we need to do. I'm in the same boat. I had decided the half truth thing isn't me. There are a few people that Im close to that I wanted to tell, plus my family but the rest I didn't care. But I knew it was either all or nothing. Because eventually people would figure it out. So I had in my head I would tell those that I wanted to tell and then those that felt the need to ask I would tell. My husband discussed what I wanted him to say to everyone and thats what I told him as well. So imagine my suprise when my husband decided to give updates on my FACEBOOK page while I was in surgery!!! He was trying to be nice and keep those that knew in the loop.....but I can't tell you how uposet I was that he did that. There is a differnce in telling people and TELLING people. now everyone from people I went to school with 20 years ago and kids in my history class know!! I'm not sure how I feel about it. on one hand i didn't do anything wrong.....but on the other hand I feel like I had the rug pulled out from under me.---This just happened Monday...so I haven't felt likediscussing this with him yet....I know he didn't mean to upset me....but for some reason I'm really mad at him.

    Day 4 Preop Diet....something Isn't Right?

I can only comment on may own experience, but it was stressed to me by my doctor to maintain a lean high protein/low carb diet.....This will send your body into ketosis and it will start burning fat stored around the liver. So I was put on a diet of 60 protein/less than 30 carbs a day/ less than 700 cals a day. He recommended 2 protein shakes and a lean cusine to keep it simple. It took 4 days before my body hit ketosis then I started losing a pond a day for the next 10 days!! It was amazing to see the scale change like that!! So it may be worth considering.

    Caffeine And Protein

walmart sells a few flavors. you can buy them on amazon in larger quantities. They have definately made it easier for me to get to 60 grams thats for sure. Theyare about 2.50 each , but I get 2 servings in each...so thats about $1.25 a serving where the powder protein was about $1 a serving.

    Caffeine And Protein

New whey is a great product to get your Protein in. 42 grams in just 4oz. Plus they taste nothing like the protein powders. They are more like kool-aid. I divided the bottle into 2 servings. so I mix 2oz new whey 1 crystal light flavoring 8-10 oz Water blenderize with lots of ice I like to make a slushy by mixing grape New Whey/grade crystal light or acai berry new Whey/blackberry-grape great value or watermellon New Whey /cherry crystal light

    Cancelling Surgery?

It so normal to start 2nd guessing yourself. I have NEVER once reconsidered having the band....untilll 3 or 4 days before the surgery. Suddenly I started feeling like I rushed into things...maybe I was doing it for the wrong reasons....I rationalized it a dozen different ways as to why I shouldn't do this. Ultimately....I couldn't come up with anything new to tell myself....I was aware o the risks from surgery, I had educated myself on what the band can and cant do, I educated myself on the lifestyle.....So I decided that changing my mind when I was in the middle of the pre-op diet would not be an educational decision, but more of an emotional (I can't do this) decision. So my advise for you would be ask yourself.....am I telling myself anything new? If not.....Go for it! Now if you hadn't done the research then thats a different story? If thats the case postpone it and educate yourself......But my guess is, your as ready as any one can be......and you'll do great.

    Banded On Monday

Im actually feeling better this evening....finally! I haven't had any problems drinking which is good. Dagmar- I bought the unjury unflavored protein amd mixed it with me tea. it flt nice onmy stomach. I still super sore, but i think it is more fromthe hernias and theaddhesions than from the band. How many incisions do you normally get with band surgery? I actually have 7. I was just curious how many extra I have.
