Your Full Signal?
waitingpatiently replied to JJLaw08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What?!! Thats crazy!! Never have heard that one!haha -
Hi MaggieD1216, I think the pain you are feeling is normal. I was banded the 19th and I'm still experiencing pain around my port as well. Especially when I exercise. I did find that if I wear an old pair of spanks(or somehthing similar) that are a little big that the pressure helps. I also still sleep with a heating pad on my belly and have found that if I lay on the heating pad on my left side, it usually helps. I also notice that first thing in the morning and after exercising that my port is very noticeable like it comes to the surface it looks and feels like the size of an egg.

Lap Band Is Not Reversible. Why The Sleeve May Be A Better Choice.
waitingpatiently replied to crystalny's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No offense....and I'm happy that you have found a WLS that is right for you, but then why are you "lurking" around a lap band support site.....don't you have one of your own? Those than come to this site seeking information about the LAPBAND not other surgeries.....and honestly, since you don't have one, I don't see where you can offer any advise. Those that have the lap band and have had issues, do a good job explaining the draw backs and are very honest as to why it didn't work for them, but it just seems strange to me that some feel the need to come to this site and express an opinion about something you don't have.....if they want information about another surgery I'm sure they can get that on another site where the members would be more educated in the sleeve or bypass than the ones on this site. It really makes me question your motives. It is everyones responsiblity to educated themselves. I'm sure I can find some that feel they rushed into having half their stomachs removed and have numerous issues.....BUT I know they are probably just the unfortunates that are listed in the satistics just like the satistics for the band. I LOVE my band...but I would never feel the need to bash the sleeve or bypass...(even though my 42 year old cousin died shortly after getting the sleeve....just saying) We each must make our own decisions. -
I just got back from my first post-op apptointment....all went well and I can move forward to mushies for one week and then a regular diet. But heres my question. I can either have my first fill on March 26, but I am leaving on a cruise on May 4. That will give me 1 week to adjust to my first fill.....is that enough time? If I don't get the fill on the 26th I won't be able to get it until May 17. I think I would like to have it done on the 26th....but I wanted those that have already went through the first fill to let me know if I am pushing it. The dr was ok with giving it to me early because he said I have done so well with post-op. But he wanted me to think about it first. So fellow bandsters......would you please think for me!---haha I know we are all different, but being that its just the first fill.....it seems like the majority on here but feel anything after the first one....so it doesn't seem like it would be a big deal.--And if for some reason it was a mistake I would still have several days to go back and have the Fluid removed before the cruise.

I absolutely love this site!! I started this challenge at 217 and I weighed in this morning at 209!!only 10 more pounds to make my April challenge.....and I haven't had my first fill!!

How far off track are you? You could go back on liquids for a week and work your way back up. Or just maybe re-focus and get back on the high protein/low carb diet. Maybe you should consider journaling your food or join Myfitnesspal.....the weather is starting to get nice(at least in virginia) maybe recommitt to walking.

Pre Op Diet - Shakes
waitingpatiently replied to Mel1098's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try New Whey at walmart. 42grams protein in a 4oz shot. They sell grape, watermellon, acai berry. I like to Mix them with crystal light. grape with grape.....watermellon with cherry lime-aid....acai berry with blackberry. I split and make 2 serving from one batch. I like to blendize my ice to a snow cone consistency and pour the protein drink over it....makes a great slushie. -
Thanks for sharing!

Help With Myfitnesspal
waitingpatiently replied to myjourneyagain's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would suggest you sign into your account on a computer if you are using your phone....just to set things up. I thought it was easier. From a computer select the "goals" tab from there you can adjust calories/fat/carbs...all that kind of stuff. Then its fine to use your phone for daily logins. Hope that helps. -
Whats Happening???
waitingpatiently replied to JennyBee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes the scale stops moving, but your body is loosing inches. Could that be possible? I am a big cheerleader for the high protein/low carbs diet....ketosis is a wonderful thing. It might give your metabolism a boost and skock it into loosing again. -
Thats awesome!!great job!!

C25K Question And First Nsv!
waitingpatiently replied to MoreThanJustaPrettyFace's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I know you feel good and ready to get started, but I think if your doctor told you to wait 3 weeks, then you should wait three weeks......You just never know....I would hate to pull something loose and mess things up. Maybe you could just walk this first week and start c25k in another week. If you have your heart set on starting, I would at least call the doctor an get the ok.....have you even had your post-op appointment yet? -
Omg, Don't Like The Shakes, I'm Sooooo Hungry!!!
waitingpatiently replied to SashaWLS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would suggest the New Whey Protein shots. they have 42 grams of protein in about 4oz. They are more like Kool-Aid....Walmart sells a few flavors for about 2.50 each. I usally mix them with a crystal light and split them into two servings. I like to mix grape with grape.....watermellon with cherry lemonade......acia berry with blackberry grape. I usually with blenderize a cup of ice and then pour the drink over top of the ice....make a great slushie. (if you blenderize the drink mix with the ice, it sometimes gets very foamy and isnt very good. -
So Upset - First Throw Up
waitingpatiently replied to BandedNeakyMinx12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Bandedneakyminx12, I know its hard ....I'm right there with you (I was banded on the 19th) but I really want to encourage you to slow down a little bit.....I think your mind is ready for the full diet, but not your stomach. Chips are NOT a mushie and I think you might want to stay away from overly spicy food as well. You have worked hard to get to this place and I know that you would be very upset if your bad slips before you even get to use it. It probably would be best to go back to liquids for today and then stick to the true mushie diet....and don't forget the rules :chew, chew chew and watch drinking while your eating. Hang in there....I know its hard and its going to take time to break old habbits and make better ones...but you can do this!! -
I'm using it to feel free to add me.....same username: waitingpatiently

Follow The Rules And Think Before You Eat !
waitingpatiently replied to Grandcherokee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ummm.....I kinda have found that if I eat while on the LBT that it takes me FOREVER to finish my lunch. I take a bite and then read, read, read, then take a bite and type type type. It just shows that LBT is good for a lot of things.--haha -
Yea!!! congrats!!!It won't be long now.

I wouldn't worry about the scares....I had 7 incisions and all but the port look like nothing more than a scratch. I'm only 16 day out so the port insion is still covered in the dermabond, so I can't tell exactly tell what its going to look like....but it surely isn't going to be a massive scare....it should fit in nicely with the stretch marks....haha

You know how a plastic bottel of soda feels when you buy it? How you can push on the plastic and there is some give in it. Now remember that day when you dropped the bottel and when you pick it up how it has expanded and is now hard as a rock. Now we all know what happens if you just open the bottel right away....how it spews everywhere.....where do you think all that extra gas is going to go when its in your belly? NOT a good idea. Not worth messing things up for a soda.

How Quickly Can I Expect To Lose The Weight?
waitingpatiently replied to rktaurus71's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Exercising 2-3 times is a good start, but I would encourage you to set aside 30 mins a day to just move. I hate exsercise!! so I have to play mind games with myself to ever do it. Everyday at 11am I make my lunch at sit it in the frig.....then I tell myself you can eat when you move for 30 mins if I don't move then I tell myself its a protein shake instead.....The thought of drinking any more of those protein drinks makes me get up and move almost every time----I hate those things!!! Works for me. I find that it is much harder to break a habbit that you do every day than one you only do every other day.
