Hopefully, Monday's test will come back negative. I'm also an introvert, rarely going out, if I can help it. Visiting the Bariatric Clinic feels like socializing.

I asked about covid-19 testing before surgery and was told it's not done in VA, unless you suspect you've been exposed. I've been social distancing, and wearing a mask, so I have no reason think I've got it, but still was disappointed.

It is good that you feel that way. I believe it will be my best option, considering the odds. It was suggested by 1 of my surgeons that the surgeries be combined, if the other agrees. I would only have to be put under once, and only 1 recovery time. Best wishes on your sleeve surgery. Let me know how you do.

Try not to be scared. If you like your surgeon, and he has experience and a good reputation, you will be in good hands. Deep breaths.

This coming Monday, I'll get the date of my hysterectomy. I found out I'll have wait 3 months before having my sleeve surgery, after that. Right now it seems like a long time to wait, since I'm so close.

Yes. My OB/GYN said to take care of the hysterectomy 1st. Right now, July is wide open, so it should give me time to get it done and recover.

I have an appointment next Friday for blood work, nutritionist, scan for kidney stones, the works. I have wondered when I'll meet the doctor. Time is starting to get tight. I just found out that I have to have a hysterectomy before the Bariatric surgery. I'm trying not to worry. 🙄 Good luck on Monday.

I get fitted for my CPAP next week. My apnea was mild, but during REM sleep, my blood oxygen drops for nearly 20 min. I wish I'd had a sleep study earlier. I hope your study goes well. My tech was a sweetheart. I couldn't have been more comfortable.

I have decided to share the information on my upcoming surgery with 2 friends, later this week. 1 is a terrible gossip, but if word gets out, it gets out. I need help getting home from the hospital, so I'll have to trust. Since I will have a covid-19 test before surgery, they will also have to trust me. I rarely ask for help, but try to step up for others. We shall see.

Last week, my Bariatric NP sent me for a sleep apnea test. The sleep disorder doctor said that my file showed me have surgery in August, so he would have me test right away. That was the first I'd heard of date, but I'll take it. All of my pre-op appointments will be finished by then. I'll have my CPAP. I'm almost ready.

Have you spoken to a counselor about your concerns? Your Bariatric team can likely recommend someone who is familiar with the emotional changes that Sleeve patients deal with. Best of luck in sorting this out.

I think women are more likely than men to get unsolicited advice on weight and looks. Everyone feels they're an expert. I don't care so much about people knowing my business, if they would keep their negativity to themselves.

I hadn't thought of the local health care agency. I'll have to look into that. If they won't drive, they may recommend someone.

I live alone and 1 1/2 hrs from the hospital and know I can't make that trip on my own right after surgery. Family is scattered and I wouldn't ask them to make the trip, and have to quarentine before returning home. I do have the benefit of being retired, so there are no nosey co-workers.

I am working toward having gastric sleeve surgery in a few months. So far, I have told my daughter, and 1 friend. Years ago, I had lapband surgery and told everyone I knew. Everyone was an expert on how it would fail, so when I had it removed last summer, I didn't tell anyone. Last week, I was told that I'll need someone with me after I go home. There goes my plan of keeping it quiet, but maybe the thing to do is talk to my best friend and tell her to not discuss my business with everyone she knows, and from there, take my chances.

It's hard to believe, I've done it. There were moments of panic in the last couple weeks, but I wasn't giving up. Now, getting through the recovery period. Last night was rough but today is better.

Good choice. I started on Unjury and only tried one other brand when I ran out of Unjury. The other brand was less expensive but it was higher in calories, and lower in Protein. The taste was not good. I'm sticking with Unjury, and yes, skim milk is much better than water. Try the Splendor Chocolate. Love it.

The first Lapband surgery was preformed in 1993. 20 years is not a long time when you are planning on a lifetime. I guess time will tell.

Yesterday I had my appointment with the PCP. This is the first time he's seen me since January. With my 50 lbs. weight loss he couldn't help being pleased with my progress. He said does not encourage his patients to have Lapband surgery because he had not had any of his patients succeed. I hope I left him with a better impression of Lapband surgery. I told him that I would do it again if I had to do over. I felt I was well prepared for the surgery, the recovery and living with the band. Going into it with a good team, and lots of support makes a world of difference. You also have to be willing to put in the work. It's all worth it.
