  1. Thank you. I picked up some chewable acid reducer and I'm hoping my calcium will help. I notice its worse when I first wake up and haven't drank in a while.

    Before and after! pics

HOLY! You look hot! I can only hope I look that good when I start losing! Congrats!
  3. Hello ladies.... I'm 26 years old and I was just Sleeved today after having the lap band for 2 years. I will not bash the band but I for the most part followed all the rules with the band ... I started at 278lbs when banded and at today's weigh in I was 214. I was still losing with the band but I was also throwing up and my port was very uncomfortable. There were times that I couldn't even swallow coffee. My husband and I started talking about having a family and I was terrified of getting pregnant and having morning sickness and throwing up my own stomach through the band, hence my decision for a revision. I'm currently about 14 hours post op and I feel great! I can not tell you about the weight loss part as I was just sleeved but my abdomen is already more comfortable with out the port. I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars on gym memberships, personal trainers, weight watchers and weight loss pills with no success. Even through my complications with the band I have managed to maintain my weight loss. Sorry for the long post. I hope this helps.
  4. I have done a lot of research about the complications of a revision (band to sleeve).... I have read plenty of articles of what "could" happen. Will someone please share with me the not so "glamorous" side of the revision surgery. I'm looking to hear from people who ACTUALLY had complications. Thank you

    Complications....?

Oh my! Well I hope you are feeling better. This band is just bad news. Less than two weeks left (4/25) for me. I'm very nervous and excited... If that's possible! Keep me posted and I hope everyday gets better for you!

    Complications....?

Thank you. I appreciate everyone's advice. I can't believe my surgery is only 18 days away.

How to deal with the disappointment

I have pretty much prepared my self to just have the band removed. I'm really hoping for the revision all in one but I would rather be alive and fat than dead. I trust my surgeon to do what ever is best for me. I am so sick of my band that I believe it will just be a relief to have it out. I had it almost completely unfilled after not being able to eat (even times when I couldn't drink liquids) and I have lost another 5lbs. (it is still currently almost all the way unfilled) At this point I feel that I am doing it all on my own and the band is now more torture than it is a tool. I am pleased with the 70lbs that the band helped me lose but I do not want to vomit any more. I got married in September and I am hoping to get pregnant and I don't want to worry about the band through pregnancy.

How to deal with the disappointment

I am so sorry this happened to you! But I am so glad you posted this! I am scheduled for a revision on 4/25 and I have a feeling I will be waking up to the same thing, I am terrified about re-gaining the weight I lost with the band. Please keep me posted. I wish you the best!
  10. Congrats! That's awesome!
  11. I was just there. I lost my job in September and I am currently going through nursing school and I definitely fell off the "band" wagon! I agree with the person above... I took the plunge and joined a gym... It's time for me to put my iPod in and clear my head... It has a major GOOD spiral effect... My body feels good and my mind is at ease because I know I'm doing something good for my self and I have SO MUCH ENERGY. Just try to take even jus a half hour a day to do something good for you and your band... Even if it is a short walk... It's something. Also I joined myfitnesspal.com and I track EVERY CALORIE that goes in my mouth. I love the website because you can also track your exercise and at the end of the day it gives you your estimated weight in 5 weeks. It really keeps me motivated. Keep your head up. Feel free to message me if you want to talk. If you join my fitness pal you can ad me. My user name is beckh86! Good luck

    My First Unfill

On 12/2/11 I went and got a 1/2 cc fill. I do not tolerate fills well so to only get a 1/2cc is normal for me. I did GREAT and I was sure to follow my dr.s instructions to a -T-!! Liquids only for 2 days and then on to soft foods and then to solids. I felt very good restriction up until Thursday...pms kicked in and I could not even keep my protein shakes down. This is the first I have encountered this because I have been on the depo shot for 12 months up until now. I went for a slight unfill today 1/2cc taken out and I feel like a million bucks. Ate a protein filled lunch worked out with the Jillian michales biggest loser DVD and getting ready to do some house cleaning!

    What Did You Eat Today?

Sorry my iPod has a mind of its own.... Do you only eat 3 meals a day? No "snacks"?

    What Did You Eat Today?

Been banded since jan 24 2011... Worked out for an hour at the gym.... Coffee with sugar free creamer then light yogurt for breakfast worked out then ate a light mozzarella cheese stick then a protien shake then for dinner I had 1/3 of a baked chicken breast iceberg lettuce with green pepper onion and fat free cottage cheese for dressing

I agree with brenda. It does sound to me like you and eat quite a bit... but there are also a LOT of factors.... the weather actually affects my band... different foods...if you are eating or drinking with your food....there may be a lot of different things.... my dr says when I throw up I should do liquids only for AT LEAST the rest of the day if not then next day... I actually threw up earlier because i waited to long to eat and didnt chew my food the way i should. I ate chicken broth it was warm and soothed my stomach as well as making me feel full. Good luck

    Lap Band Port Site

It is normally more painful because the port -well mine anyway- is sewen in to your muscle. I notice still almost a year later that I have some tenderness if I do abdominal exercise.
  18. Thank you. My fiancé and family are VERY supportive as well as my fiancé's family. That is all I need. And you are absolutely right. I think she does have a drinking problem and I really do distance my self from her and the other negative people in my life. Life is too short! Congrats to you and your husband! You two will be so happy!
  19. Hello all.... My mother had gastric bypass in 2004. She was very private about it and I didn't really understand. I had lap band surgery in January and I told EVERYONE... I was so excited and had my mind made up about the surgery so I did not care about anyone's opinions.....BUT I find that now that I have had the surgery I no longer get "hello how are you?" I get... "so how many lbs have you lost" and people expect that you are going to leave 100 lbs over night. I also find some "friends" and co-workers blatantly try to sabotage... They will sit right in front of you and eat bad food and make comments it was very annoying for me.... Also I have one specific friend who has lost weight in a VERY unhealthy way (she drinks wine all day and only eats dinner) I sent her a message yesterday and we talked about my recent struggle with my weight loss and she then sends me a message that says "you need to come over to eat and drink" not we should get together some time "you need to come over to eat and drink" REALLY? I politely responded.... " I would be glad to come enjoy a low carb dinner and sugar free drink with you" .... Good luck with you surgery and I hope whatever decision you make it works out for you!
  20. I did go through this and I was in the same boat... In a panic. I started taking prenatal vitamins and it took care of the problem. Only lasted a month and I by no means had bald spots. Good luck
  21. I had that a few times shortly after my surgery when I started incorporating more solid foods. I used to say it was like the instant stomach flu... I would shake and sweat and feel like I might throw up at the same time I was sitting on the toilet. It has not happened since about 4-5weeks after my surgery. Good luck hope you feel better!

    Day Two At The Gym!

Today is day two at the gym! I feel GREAT! Did 30 mins of cardio and 15 mins of strength training. I don't know why I waited so long to get a membership! Also I have been sticking with my liquid requirements since my fill yesterday! we can all do this!

    What Are You Eating?

Well it probably won't kill you but it also won't kill you to follow the instructions your dr gave you. I have had my band since 1/24/11. I am a HUGE rule breaker! If you are anything like me and you start breaking the rules now you might have trouble staying on track. I lost weight very quickly at first when I was following the rules then I quit following the rules and actually gained 6lbs back. Just be careful and good luck!
  24. You should not be having problems. You will have problems when your band has slipped, is too tight or you are eating something your band doesn't agree with. It is normal to not have nausea or vomiting. You want things to go down smooth.
