Seriously Im Outta Control! This Might Be Tmi
Bedhead replied to blackanese25's topic in The Gals' Room
I totally could have written this post myself! HELLO!! Bow chicka wow wow. And I've learned not to bother with toys that run on disposable batteries. I splurged on high end version that you can plug into the wall to recharge. I have saved so much $$$ on replacing batteries. -

Ugh, This Head Hunger Is A Bia!
Bedhead replied to 2bHotGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I struggle with the head hunger and desire to eat despite being full every SINGLE day. Some days I watch the clock like a hawk until I can eat again. I've found that drinking a LOT of Water helps. It puts something in my mouth and gives me the movement (hand to mouth) of eating with none of the guilt. Plus it helps me get toward my hydration goals for the day. -

When Should I Start To Smoke Again / After My Sleeve?
Bedhead replied to bopbopbaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just don't. It would be a damned shame to have a life altering operation to extend your life only to go back to smoking again and shorten it back down again. -
Surgery Biggest Mistake Of Life!
Bedhead replied to Shelby21's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can't understand why you aren't on a PPI already!! I started mine immediately when I got home 20mg of Prilosec 2x a day. That could be a lot of the pain you're still feeling. I'm so sorry you're feeling regret. I was in your shoes not too long ago- I had some complications and spent a good but of Feb in the hospital- but I'm 2 months out today and life is back to normal!! Just a few weeks ago I was sobbing in my husbands arms because I had ruined my life and now my brother saw me for the first time since before surgery and he told me "OHMYGOD!! You have lost so much weight!" and he has no idea that I had surgery. -
I noticed that a few of us have 2/6 sleeve dates, so I thought I'd give us our own pre-op thread. On 2/6 we can make our very own POST-op thread! I can not wait to make an "I'm SLEEVED!" thread. I've been reading them for months and was always so envious, wondering if I'd ever be able to make one of my own. Now it's becoming a reality!!

Interested In Getting The Sleeve But People Are Scaring Me!
Bedhead replied to TiffanyLoren's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tarted this journey at 280lbs, 5'7", and 27 years of age. I have 3 beautiful kids- oldest is nearly 9 and youngest was 10 months when I had surgery on Feb 6th 2012. I'm still 5'7", still 27 years old, still have 3 beautiful kids, but now I'm 247.5lbs and I never could have made that happen on my own. Slowly but surely the scale creeps down and I know one day I'll be able to run at the playground with the kids without being winded, fit in the rides with them at the fair, and wear an outfit that is so sexy it will knock my husbands socks off. -
I was sleeved almost 2 months ago (2/6/12) and I just realized today that I hit a huge milestone!! I plugged my height/weight info into a BMI calculator and my BMI is now 38.8. When I got my surgery my BMI was 43.8! I am no longer in "Very Severely Obese" and am now just "Severely Obese". I no longer qualify for surgery with my insurance company!!!! Thank goodness I already got it In just 24 more pounds I will be under a BMI of 35 and be classed as "Moderately Obese" HORRAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My First Real Victory In 2 Months!

I may not be seeing much in the way of scale movement but that was SERIOUSLY awesome to see! It definitely kicked me to want to work harder. -
What's The Most Difficult Part Of Living With Your New Sleeve?
Bedhead replied to CathyT59's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not drinking with meals. When I was in the liquid/soft stages I could easily but now that I'm eating regular foods if I take a drink of water I will get the slimes and so much pain for a few minutes. I used to down at least 3 glasses of water with each meal so now I get really edge after a meal until I can have some water again. It really really sucks -
I <3 pizza. If I thought I would have had to give it up for life I never would have gotten this surgery. I went from being able to eat 3-4 slices of pizza in a sitting to only being able to eat one super super thin crust (so thin you basically need to fold it up or eat it with a fork because it won't hold up on its own!) without eating the outer edge. Sometimes a few hours later I can eat the topping off of another slice- but not always and not a full extra slice.

16 Weeks: Putting My Sleeve To The Test!
Bedhead replied to Rico's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Also- you make no mention of the quantities of the last two meals you were able to get down. Did you eat the entire boxed meal? The entire burger minus bun? If so your discomfort could have been more quantity related than the food choices themselves. -
16 Weeks: Putting My Sleeve To The Test!
Bedhead replied to Rico's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The science geek in me needs to point out that your research method was majorly flawed. In order to get a more accurate result you should have split these bad food choices up over a few days. Soda one day. Nuggets a different day. KFC on another day, and Burger King on its own day. I think it's possible that the nuggets went down easily but you following meals were more difficult could have been in direct relation to the grease and heaviness of the nuggets. You could have made your sleeve work overtime by following that meal with more greasy meals- thus skewing your overall results. -
Do The Stomach Staples Stay In The New Sleeve?
Bedhead replied to lisalalani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope, they don't. I've had an MRI and gone through metal detectors since surgery without a problem. -

Surgery Wasnt By Choice!
Bedhead replied to Ashley Brooke's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think that Ashly meant that her stomach was just floating free with no attachment to her intestines or esophagus. I'm guessing that her meaning was that her stomach was not naturally tacked down with fatty tissue, ligaments, filaments, whatever the heck keeps our organs in the proper position. It would give the stomach enough 'wiggle room' to get tangled up in other organs (which is the 'taking over other organs' reference, I think). But the stomach wouldn't be able to go too far bc of the esophageal and intestinal connections, which provide the blood supply. -
Does Anyone Have Any Regrets?
Bedhead replied to Dizzle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved 2/6, 30-something lbs down, had so many complications that I spent almost the entire month of Feb in the hospital. I regretted it then. Now that I feel great, have energy, and can eat like a normal skinny person I wouldn't change it for the world. -
Glycerin suppositories work like no other, and usually within just a few minutes!

There are other options! I believe that glucola is 50g of glucose. You can use anything else with 50g of glucose- like jelly beans! I have always used them for my tests because I can't stomach fizzy drinks.

Lets Live This Complication Scairy Site Up!
Bedhead replied to momofthree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon was Howard Simon- and I just want to say that he is seriously a rock star. I was hospitalized on and off almost the entire month of Feb and he was amazing through it all. He never once tried to minimize the pain I was in and ordered test after test after test. I had more leak tests in 1 month than most people have in a lifetime! He never gave up on finding an answer and that tenacity paid off. Now I have my moments when my sleeve will vehemently reject something I've eaten but 99% of the time I feel great. I can already eat pretty much anything I want just in small quantities and slowly but surely the weight is coming off. For the first time in nearly 2 months I can honestly say I'm glad I got the surgery. -
I had a 28 day cycle preop that was like clockwork. Since surgery it's been all over the place. I'm hoping that will fix itself in time.

I am eating a cheeseburger. Granted- I'll only be able to eat 1/4 of it at a time but I definitely plan on eating the whole thing before bedtime!!
