Did Everyone Here Go On A Liquid Diet Before Surgery?
Bedhead replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well that's easy- we all get the surgery because we obviously do not have the will power to walk away from food without having a surgical tool in place. I imagine after you have your sleeve in place it's easy to forget what a nightmarish existence we non-sleevers live in having to fight ourselves. We KNOW what we need to do, but doing it is a totally different story. -
This May Sound Stupid... But I Need An Excuse.
Bedhead replied to readytobeslimxoxox's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that you should be as close to the truth as possible. Laparoscopic appendectomy is done low on your right side. One of my appendectomy scars is on top of my csection scar- very very low. So anyone who has had one before or has a working knowledge of human anatomy would catch you in the lie. Same issue with saying you are having a female issue- any sort of female surgery would be done low on your abdomen. Is there any way to schedule after your prom? I'd be really sad to miss it If you want to go forward and keep the secret stick as close to the truth as humanly possible- tell people you've had stomach issues for years (not a lie- your stomach has given you all of these obesity issues!) and that the doctors will hopefully be able to fix what is wrong. -

Bedhead replied to Liliana Arleen's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is so exciting!! Like swizzly- I have been overweight for so long that I don't own any small clothes to fit back into. I've been buying stuff I love on clearance (love target clearance!!!) so that I'll have a few items as I go down through the sizes. -

Should I Call And Ask My Insurance Again?
Bedhead replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in Insurance & Financing
Call again and ask! I thought there was no way my insurance would cover the sleeve but low and behold I was approved!!! I called multiple times just to check and double check and recheck. -

Since I have NO signs of sleep apnea my PCP just signed a note to my surgeon that I did not have any sleep apnea signs OT symptoms and he was confident in recommending me for surgery without first having the sleep study done.

A meal I make for my family is tuna stuffed shells- but this wouldn't be great if you only have to cook for yourself unless you freeze them into single serve portions. Tuna Jumbo shells Garlic salt Cottage cheese Lite Alfredo sauce Preheat oven to 350 Mix together tuna, garlic, and cottage cheese. Stuff tuna mixture into shells that have been cooked according to package directions. Top with Alfredo sauce and any spices you may enjoy (I love basil and parsley) Bake until bubbly.

Old Habits Sneaking Back In
Bedhead replied to Last Chance Sue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a bad tv snacker- so to combat that and lose some weight preop I got a little set of 3lb hand weights from target for super cheap. Lifting those while I'm lazing around on the couch gives me the comfort up and down movement of eating with none of the caloric consequences! -
These are awesome!!

I Just Sucked The Cheese Off A Dorito And It Was So Satisfying.
Bedhead replied to Kareforme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I second counseling! If you are already cheating this early out- what will you be doing at 3 weeks... Or 3 months.... Or 3 years? -
I have always dreamed of being able to wear a pair of sexy distressed jeans from a place like Hollister, American Eagle, or Abercrombie.

February 2012 Surgery Dates- Who's Ready?
Bedhead replied to Dooter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We're sleeve sisters! I'm 2/6 too! I'm getting sleeved at Community Hospital by Dr. Howard Simon in Upstate NY. I am SOOOO ready to go! It took me almost ten years of research to finally pick the right surgery, doctor, and hospital. Now that I finally made the choice I can not wait! I'm especially excited because I thought it would be at least June before I got my surgery. I can't believe from the beginning of the process until surgery it will have been less than 3 months for me! -
Fee For Dietician And Psych. Consults?
Bedhead replied to Tana_Q's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance covered everything! The psych I had to see separately but the dietician is a part of my surgeons practice. -
Surgery To Remove My Gallbladder. :(
Bedhead replied to Julie76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that because you are already sleeved you probably won't have much trouble! But I went from eating whatever I wanted to all of a sudden not having a gallbladder and I would have EXTREME intestinal reactions to foods that I could eat before without a single problem. Anything high in fat (pizza, fried ANYTHING, heavy cream like Alfredo) immediately makes me dizzy, cold sweats, you name it. It's HORRIBLE. I didn't eat out for the first year or so after having it removed. I think it would have been a different experience altogether had I already been sleeved!
