Bedhead replied to mommy794's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery 2-6 here too! Only a week left!! -
A Sudden End To Food Funerals
Bedhead replied to Bedhead's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I thought yesterday was a fluke, but I woke up today to the same ambivalent feeling about food. Total disinterest. I know that I really do need to eat something but the thought of doing so makes me want to hurl. I don't know if it's nerves or something else, but I'll take it! -
2 Months 50 Pounds Down ( Almost I Have A Couple More Days) Pics
Bedhead replied to megannadine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You look fantastic! We have about the same stats- so I'm looking way forward to hopefully losing just as fast as you have soon! -
Bummed... But I Shouldn't Be :(
Bedhead replied to sabrina140's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is scheduled for the 6th- and seriously, I would be a hot mess if they called to push it back! I'm so sorry! -
2Wks To Start Pre Op Diet
Bedhead replied to andkel30's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I ever considered making the mistake of telling my husband I needed something to entertain my mouth I know EXACTLY what his solution would be!! -
My surgeon does not require it.

I'm having a horrific time of losing. I feel like I'm stuck in a never ending food funeral!! A whole back I gained 4lbs!! That kicked me in the pants to get in gear because they will cancel surgery if they don't see any behavior modification
-
This is totally TMI- but who needs a liquid preop diet when you can just come down with a horrible case of the stomach flu??? I weigh 9lbs less today than I did at this exact same time yesterday. Just trying to get Water to stay in is hard work! It's making not cheating exceptionally easy!! Who knew I'd actually appreciate being sick??
-
Awwww I'm sorry to hear this. No more eating nachos!!!
-
My surgeon told me that because I'm just over the 40BMI limit for no comorbidities that once my first weigh in logged me, it was totally ok for me to go under that because the insurance companies understand how we can go up and down with our weight. I don't know if EVERY insurance company is like that, but mine has gone just fine!

Can Using Coconut Oil On Skin Cause Gain?
Bedhead replied to Joyfulone1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use it after every single bath and diaper change on my 17lb daughter. I honestly don't think it would be putting your weight loss at risk. -
I'm starting my self imposed liquid diet tomorrow. HOOOOOOOOOLY crap. I actually wish my surgeon required a preop diet because I feel like it would be much easier for me to be accountable if he was making me do it as opposed to just doing it myself. I'm SO AFRAID that I'm going to gain weight and have to cancel my surgery!

I'm getting sleeved at Community Hospital in Upstate NY be Dr. Howard Simon. He's been doing the VSG for years now and he says it's his favorite WLS and he recommends it to all of his patients.

LOL @ Operation Sexy 2012- I'm totally working on the same operation over here too! I am going to get sexy before 30 if it kills me!!! As for telling people- The only people who know are my husband and my medical doctors. I've had issues with my stomach for a long time so as far as extended family knows- I'm having those issues fixed. It's nice because I get all of the support of having surgery with none of the judgment and opinions.

I think you're going to have to let her make this choice on her own. I am 27 now but have been looking into weight loss surgery since I was just a teenager! It took me nearly 10 years to finally take the plunge. Give her time. Chances are- once you ease up on her about the surgery shell be more willing to do some of her own research to find what is right for her. Hang in there mama! I have 3 of my own- so I totally understand wanting what is best for them!

B&a Pic: Same Shirt, Big Difference
Bedhead replied to minaleigh's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I bet there are going to be a whole lot of jealous people when you hit your goal weight. You have an awesome shape now, I can imagine it will be even MORE awesome later! Hell- I'm jealous! -
Not with laproscopic- but with my csection I had a seroma (giant Fluid pocket) build up under my incision and it caused it to break open. There was nothing that could be done other than draining the seroma and keeping the area very very clean! You should definitely put in a call to your surgeon.

How Long Did It Take To Go Through All The Classes?
Bedhead replied to Lyra's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My informational session was at the beginning of November. My surgical date is 2/6- so from start to finish (or should I say from beginning to beginning!?) it will have been three months! I attribute the speed at which I've gone through the process to being SUPER proactive about my appointments, getting paperwork in, calling to make sure my paperwork was received by the appropriate people, calling insurance to check, double check, and quintuple check that I had all of the requirements fulfilled, took my full five year obesity history record WITH me to my first surgical consult, and just generally rush, rush, rushed! Once I made the decision I was fired up and ready to get 'er done! -
OMG That is so exciting! I was originally scheduled for Feb. 20th.... but then got a phone call that I was being bumped to 2/6. I was so excited I could barely contain myself!

6 Months Post-Op...why Am I So Tired?!?!
Bedhead replied to LeahG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to totally agree with the last two posters! The first thing I thought when I read your opening post was that 600-800 calories is WAY too low to be doing the kind of physical activity you're doing! Have you tried upping your caloric intake to 1,000-1,200 calories to see how it changes things? Logically you'd think that fewer calories will equate to higher weight loss, but that's not exactly true once you get below a certain threshold. A body needs a certain number of calories just to perform its regular functions through the day, so when you're not getting enough calories for your body to function appropriately AND do the high impact workouts you're doing. Especially since your bloodwork was all fine- I really think the calories in VS the calories out may be the problem. -
One Thing I Can't Wait To Do...
Bedhead replied to dom1985's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My biggest non-numbers/health dream is to fit in with my family. I have a husband and three small kids whose clothing I shop for and they are all VERY fashionable. I shop sales at great stores (Gap, H&M, Abercrombie) for all of them, then for myself I get various pairs of black and dark gray or brown yoga pants. I feel like such a failure next to them. I have THOUSANDS of pictures of my husband and the kids together because I think they look so fantastic and I don't want to get into the picture with them because I feel like I ruin it- and when I DO get in the photo, I make sure the kids are right in front of me and I'm hunched down a little so someone is blocking out the worst of it -
Curious. Post Vsg What Gender Was Your Baby?
Bedhead replied to sarahh1828's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I tried the gender diet to have a girl twice- and both times I had boys. Then I gave up and figured there was nothing I could do to get the gender that I wanted- and low and behold I had a girl! -
1-Month Post Surgery And Am Pleased
Bedhead replied to Cheles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that the doctors goal is usually a certain percentage of your body fat gone (I think it's 60-70%, I'm not sure on the exact figure though) so if you lose that much, in the eyes of the medical community- your sleeve has been a success! Moonsiren- 150? That seems so low for a 6 foot tall female! I'm 5'7" and my 'normal' weight and goal weight are 147lbs. -
If they are that worried about you living or dying- they should be that much more supportive of this decision you have made!
-
My surgeon doesn't seem to do any testing- he sends me to my PCP for all of the bloodwork that I need to have done.
