I think they prefer the Atkins shakes. I love them! I take one and mix it in the blender with a few ice cubes, 1 TBS. sugar free choc syrup (DA Vinci), one packet Splenda, a little almond or cocnut extract. YUMMY!! Michele

    Dr. Spivak's patients .....

Hi everyone, I was banded by Dr. Spivak on Valentine's Day at the SurgiCenter. I called him my valentine. He was shy and sweet and smiling. My husband assumed I was on really good drugs, but I really meant it. Dr. Spivak has been so nice and I chose Valentines Day as a present to myself. The office staff has been wonderful, too. Michele Dr. Spivak Down 23 pounds since surgery!!! YEA!!!

ArmKam...I am a singer, too. I've wondered about my diaphragm and haven't done much singing since surgery on 2.14.07. You can definetely come to the party...bring the music!!! I can't play by ear!!! I'm a retired teacher...music..18 years and 1st grade 8 years! How bout that? Two music teachers singing the same song!!!! Michele
  13. Oh yea, the nurse said the gas is not from what I'm eating...it's from the surgery itself. Bummer that you and I are having the gas a month out....we should be feeling great by now.
  14. UKangel....so sorry to hear about your pain. I;m having the same problem. I didn't have any gas pain after surgery until 3 weeks after it. The doctor's office told me that it is gas trapped in from the surgery. Some people just don't experience it for weeks after surgery. Here's what I've done...seems to be helping.....raise arms in "jumping jack syle" for 10 times, go shopping and hold on to the cart and walk walk walk, Mine hurts worse after eating and sitting.....so I keep getting up and walking around the house. The pain the other night moved from my ribs to my right shoulder blade and was better the next day. I totally understand you, the pain feels like a broken rib and is excruciating. I just can't believe that gas can be SO PAINFUL. Good luck,,,keep walking around and let me hear from you and how you are doing. Michele

Susannah, I'm so sorry to hear about your problem. Did you have any idea that there was anything wrong? Did the Dr. say how this happened so soon? Just curious...did you have any pain along the way? Hope things go well for you and the new procedure is easy on you. Michele

Hi Synicalchick....Teacher here, I have fibromyalgia, too. I don't know what I'll do if I get a flare up. I gues Tylenol, but that's never helped before. I'm sorry about your problems ....just awful. LeeinDe...I'm feeling sorry for myself too. I guess we three girls should have a slumber party and sing " I'll Cry If I Want To". I'm having so much pain in the right ribcage that I called the doctor again today. Yesterday they said gas...today they said maybe sounds like I have a gallstone stuck in the bile duct. OH GREAT. I don't have a gall bladder so now my body decides to produce a stone and pass it to the bile duct. I'm in so much pain. I have to call a doctor in my hometown and set up a test. I'm not over THIS surgery yet....I'm not realy for another one. Teacher Dr. Spivak

    February 2007 bandsters!

Thank you all for you good wishes on the ribcage pain. The funny thing is that I didn't have any problems with gas after surgery...only started a few days ago...weird. My right ribcage hurts so bad, I nearly cried when I leaned up to turn off the bath water.ouch. My doctor's office says it sounds like gas for sure. No eating after 6pm....and that last meal must be VERY light. Yikes!!! I'm hungriest at night!!!! They said nothing but water after 6pm. boohoo

    February 2007 bandsters!

I hate to hear about those of you who are starving because of such a long time on liquids. My doctor only required 48 hours of liquid post-op. I've been on mushies for awhile now. I have found that potatoes and soup keep me starving. Chicken and eggs really keep me feeling "full".....whatever that means. I have no restriction so to me "full" means tight. My ribcage just starts feeling real tight..so I stop after 5-6 bites. The rotissieri(sp) chicken from the local HEB is so moist and tender. It's easy to chew to pulverized and goes down easy. About 1/4 cup is all I need to stay full for awhile. Also, Laughing Cow makes a Light cheese in wedges....very flavorfull and soft. Hope this helps someone..some starving person!!! Michele
