I live in Fredericton and have met a few people through OH but I'd very much like to find a support group near by for when I get home from Mexico. I've made friends with a sleevee from PEI but it's a bit of a drive for regular get togethers. Surely I'm not the only person in my area who subscribes to this site. Please friend me or message me if you are an east coaster who has been sleeved or are thinking about getting sleeved. Thanks

Where Are All The East Coasters?
Zedsmummy replied to Zedsmummy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi All, I am now almost 1.5 years post op. I'm down 105lbs, no lbs loss since my anniversary date but I have started running and have dropped sizes so I'm not discouraged. If anyone in the Fredericton area is interested in meeting for support I'd be happy to do so! just send me a direct message! -
Where Are All The East Coasters?

Hi, I don't know if the number you gave me is a cell or now but I sent you a text message. You didn't leave your name. -
I was sleeved on December 7th with Dr. Kelly in Tijuana. I had a text book surgery that took 35 minutes and did not require a drain. I guess sticking to the pre-op diet so strictly really paid off! I had a lot of CO2 pain when I woke up from surgery and that lasted about 2 days in total. I did have some sore stomach muscles and the occasional middle of the night stomach spasm (which Dr. Kelly assures me is normal). I'm very pleased with my recovery so far. Anything except warm to hot liquids really bothered my stomach until today. That has made it VERY challenging to get all my fluids in and I'm so bloody bored of strained soups and protein shakes I could scream. My mother indulged me by making french onion soup for me tonight. I just had broth and onions which I put in the blender on the smoothie setting. I crave onions SOOOOO bad.

Preop Gastric Surgery Diet Is Awful!
Zedsmummy replied to luv-a-bull's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today is day 8 of my Pre-op diet. I no longer get my one meal a day I'm on all Protein shakes now. Yesterday was rough, I nearly cried at supper time when my family was eating. I went an hid in the bath so I wouldn't have to smell/watch them eat. Today, I'm not at all hungry. I had a mug of tea first this this morning, just started my first shake of the day at 10:30 and I'm only halfway through it. I feel completely Water logged from the protein shakes. I think I slosh when I walk. I just keep reminding myself to keep my eyes on the prize! -
I had my husband cook supper tonight and I went and had a bath. I sipped on chicken broth while I was in the tub but it wasn't as good as the steak rice and salad that my family ate. I don't even like rice and it was tempting.

Pre-op Gastric Sleeve Diet
Zedsmummy replied to Paola's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my shakes at my local GNC here in Canada. I just went in an asked them for the best tasking shake they had with more than 15gs of protein. They let me taste these ones before I purchased. They do have a little bit of that protein scent when you take that first sip but I hardly notice it anymore. -
Pre-op Gastric Sleeve Diet
Zedsmummy replied to Paola's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on a similar pre-op plan as you and I am drinking GNC lean shakes and GNC pro performance lean muscle meal. Both of these shakes are not completely carb free but they are quite low (3net grams). They are pretty tasty shakes I must say, but the constant chocolate/vanilla/strawberry rotation in killing me. I like variety. I've been having clear chicken broth for lunches. I've also been having 2 glasses of sugar free metamucil each day because I was having some constipation. The metamucil is also very filling so that's usually what I have for Breakfast and a snack in the evening. -
Here we all are! Introduce yourself!

Hi, I'm Jackie. I'm being sleeved by Dr. Kelly in Tijuana on December 7th. I'm a 38 year old Mom of 2 great kids. I work full-time in educational administration and I am 1 course away from my Masters degree in Adult Ed. I've been overweight most of my adult life and even when I was thin I thought I was fat because my self esteem was so far in the toilet. These days I've got a good handle on who I am and what I have to offer and I think I'm pretty awesome. I just have this 100lb weight hanging around. Everytime I fail at a diet I begin that downward spiral on my self esteem. Well, not any more!!! I'm getting sleeved and it will be my safety belt strapping me on the wagon! I have realized that I don't deserve to be fat and looked down upon and judged. I deserve to be healthy, active, and fit and I'm going to get there. My Therapist told me a few weeks ago that people tend to get what the expect and for years I have expected to be fat. After December 7th, I expect to be thin. -
Ashamed of WLS?
Zedsmummy replied to Less of Leslie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I had thought to say this to my best friend. She doesn't understand why I have to have VSG. She thinks it's too extreme. She has said she'll support me but I now regret telling her. It doesn't help that I am a terribly liar, and crack under even the slightest question. I feel like I should have kept it a secret but now that the cat is out of the bag I'm going to have to "come clean" to a whole bunch of people that I know are going to have nothing but negative things to say. That's why I am waiting until the night before I leave for Mexico so no one can think they might talk me out of it. -
Hi, I'm new here. I'm having my VSG by Dr. Kelly in Tijuana on Decemeber 7th. My cousin is getting sleeved too! I'm quite excited but the pre-op diet is driving me crazy. I'd sell my m,other for some crackers. Yesterday was decorate the office for Christmas and people brought in all kinds of goodies. I admit that I tasted a few things. Just enough for a taste though. Today I did Christmas shopping and when we got home I was sleepy so I took a nap. I can't remember the last time I took a nap! I think my rationalization was if I am asleep I won't me thinking about all the things I can't eat. I'm more than ready to be post-op and no longer have the hungry feeling.
