Why are my readings not coming down?!?!?!
Ms skinniness replied to bascott73's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would start by doing a liquid diet before your surgery to help decrease the chances of having a fatty liver. By doing the liquid diet, your A1C should drop. Does your medical insurance cover a visit to a nut or dietician. Perhaps your doctor can order some bleed workup to determine if you have a fatty liver. Good luck and can't wait for you to join us on the BIG LOSER'S BENCH! -
Why are my readings not coming down?!?!?!
Ms skinniness replied to bascott73's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
These are supplements. I've read in many articles by RD and nutritionist that these are helpful in lowering blood sugar. I do believe that it has helped my DH with lowering his BS. It's worth giving it a try... -
Now this is a class I'd be really interested in........ I have Kaiser and they offer a lot. do they let outsiders come in for the class? That would really interest me....

I have the same problem when I'm really stressed out. If I don't sleep I'm so hungry. Oh and if I don't get enough fluids I'm hungry. Grrr!

This is like a marriage. There is no going back for me. I will always need to be diligent and not allow myself to snack or graze. I love the 5:2 plan and it helps me to maintain my skinniness.

Untolerable foods
Ms skinniness replied to tmposton's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can eat pretty much anything.....No problems here. Sometimes I do get a rush from sugars though, but nothing major... -
I had no complications after my surgery.......

If you keep stressing out about this, your immune system will get weaker and you will get the stomach flu. Drink a lot of water if you can and if you start feeling a bit nauseous, go to your urgent care for something to take the nauseousness away.

At this point in your recovery your stomach is less inflamed. It's time to put yourself on a schedule with eating a little bit every 2 hours. Since your not getting hardly any food in, your weight loss can or will slow down. Drink a RTD protein shake like Premier from Costco or Sam's club to get you started int he morning. Eat moist foods to help with getting the food into your stomach. You can do this, it's making new habits of taking care of yourself. Sip every time you get a chance, dehydration is the worst ever. It's not fun.

I'm new to this...think I'm doing this right?
Ms skinniness replied to mlk's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Look how long it took you to gain the 80 lbs and how long it took you to lose it.......Wow, you only have 27 more lbs to go....that's fabulous. The hard part is the last 27 lbs will be little harder for your body to let go. But remember, stay diligent, eat mainly high protein, and veggies and the rest will come off. Eighty lbs is fantastic and I applaud you! CONGRATS it's time to do the happy dance and keep movin forward, don't let old behaviors sabotage your new life style...... -

Soda is an addiction for me. I tried to stop drinking it for over 40 years until right before this surgery. Once I made the decision to better my life style for my health, I was able to give it up. I really don't miss it. I don't even think about it anymore. I do get tired of drinking diluted gatorade, crystal lite, powerade, or just plain water.... But I do treasure my skinny body and good health and plan on never drinking it again. I really don't miss it and I don't need it. JMHO. We all have are demons that we struggle with so I am not judging. Enjoy your ride to better health and skinniness.

This is a healthy state of mind......This is what I strive for...if only I could get here sooner rather than later....But for now, I am a work in progress. -
So congrats on 3 years! How are u doing in maintenance? What is ur diet like? If the questions are too personal it's ok not to answer them.

This is very interesting to read. My profession is working with couples that are struggling in their marriages and what I always assign for my couples to do is go out on a date night every week. To find something they both love to do and to switch it up all the time. Be creative and surprise each other with extra special attention. Oooops I feel like I'm at work right now.

How was your 5:2 day today?

I went to the PBS website and was able to view the whole thing. It was well worth it, I love it when there are studies to validate the material that is being presented. I'm going to have my husband watch it when he gets home tonight or tomorrow morning before he goes to work. Since in maintenance I was thinking of just doing 1 fast day but am going to have 2 fast days a week just for the health benefits. Thanks for sharing this..... -
