Complete Disregard For The "water Rules"- Experts Chime In!
Ms skinniness replied to sirensiren's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon told me to wait 30 minutes before and after a meal. I sometimes will have a sip of water during my meal if I'm at a restaurant. I hope I'm not disposing of any nutrients . Anyways, I'm finding alot of differences in surgeons. -
Glad to hear you were able to talk with him before being dc. My leg started cramping when I was driving about 5 weeks out and I started thinking I was getting a blood clot, so I went to the ER and no, I wasn't having a blood clot. 11 weeks out and I'm good to go, pasted the 8 week mark! You will do fine... Any questions and we can call the surgeon's office. That's what they're paid for. Have a Merry Christmas and I can't wait to hear about the lbs and inches just dropping off.

I Seriously Wanted To Bolt From The Hospital Before Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Ms skinniness replied to Amanda 3.0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG, I was so scare, I told my husband, my son, and the doctor that I wanted to run away and I was totally shaking. After the anesthiologist injected a medication, all I could remember is the surgery room light and my arms stretched out and strapped to some boards. The surgery went great. I had no vomiting are nausea. I knew that if I didn't press the morphine button, I would totally bail. I didn't get food or popsickle's or ice. i got cranberry juice light that hurt my stomach to drink. Also, water was also hard to get down. I would walk around the ward trying to keep my eyes open. When I got home everything went well. Hang in there, by next week you will feel alot better..... -
Have u talked with the doc yet? Antibiotics will be helpful. congrats on becoming a member of the loser's group.

Pain when eating. What are your intolerances?
Ms skinniness replied to MaryMayFlower's topic in Food and Nutrition
a friend of mine is a dietician and she saids that breads expand in our stomach as well as pasta's and tortilla's. A nutritionist at kaiser also confirms this. They also say we should toast our bread first. I try to stay away from breads, pasta's and tortilla's. Hope this helps. -

I like the Premium chocolate protein drinks from costco. They have 30 gms of protein. Also have a protein powder by NuTek that also has 32 gms protein. When I mix it, (vanilla) tastes really good. Sometimes I put some frozen mixed fruit and it's a smoothie....yayyyyyyy. Congrats on your 140 lb weight loss! that's awesome.. -

Help! Not Sleeping :(
Ms skinniness replied to EmSchrams's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use sleep aide from costco. I know that when healing, it is important to get our sleep. When I got home from the hospital, I had insomnia for 3 nights so I took my tylenol with cod to aid in sleeping. I hated this so I called the surgeon and they gave me the ok to take sleep aid. This has always worked better than any other medications I have taken for my insomnia. I love it. It's also not addicting. Good luck on catching your zzzzzzz's. -

3d Week Gastric Sleeve Surgery Diet Gah
Ms skinniness replied to reallyrosy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeons tell me to take a bite, wait 10 minutes then take another. LOL who can do this? I can't, so what I do is take a bite wait a few minutes and take another bite. Recently, I remembered at the orientation for bariatric surgery for weight loss, the head doc at Kaiser stated, "it will take you 45 minutes to eat half a sandwhich." Doing the math because I had a tendency to eat a little too much, I divided 45 by 10 minutes and figured out that I can only take about 4.5 bites per meal. That has helped alot. So now I count bites and try to slow them down. I was always hungry for the first 8 weeks. My surgeons never told me about prilosec or nexium for the stomach acid. I received feedback from other members of our club and they suggested prilosec. Since beginning taking it, my hunger has decreased. Today I found that I continue to loose weight at a good pace. about 2 lbs since last tuesday. Love it.... Give your tummy time to register that you are full. Put your food down after taking a bite and do something, then come back to it. If you don't like cold food, then keep the food in a tortilla warmer. You might find this helpful.. Congrats! Your hungry tummy monster will adjust LOL. -

The Gastric Sleeve Helped Me Avoid Treats At Work!
Ms skinniness replied to MoonSiren's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I too have discovered that I don't like certain junk foods I used too LOL. But I think it's because I'm beginning to feel a little better about myself. I am going to keep up the good work! I focus on Protein first. I am 11 weeks post opt and I just discovered I am about 20 lbs to my goal weight. But actually, I have reached a huge goal of healthy cholesterol, and no diabetes. We are all doing great! Merry Christmas too all Sleevers. -
women are amazing. One of my closest friends continues to tell me how she eats M&M's all day, has one big meal, and grazes though out the day and has lost 7 lbs. I am astonished at her unhealthy eating habits with high carb intake. And yes, since I've know her, she has gone up 3 pant sizes. When I told her i was going to have this surgery, she told me I didn't need it. It got to the point where I don't feel safe sharing with her about anything personal. So I don't. I do get frustrated when she talks about how wonderful she is with her weight loss. Then again, my world is all about me and I love it.... To all of you, keep up the hard work,,, we have given up alot to be here. I had a taco from Taco Bell because I was craving it and I hated the Taco...... Feels good.

You are worth it. Love the transformation of your new body. Take time for yourself and be good to yourself. Your children and grandchildren are taking in everything you do,,, so make it about honoring yourself also. -

Take your protein, water, and multivits. My understanding is that the protein drink is also considered a fluid. I do like the peanut butter one. -
