CONGRATS! Time to party! :Banane57:
-
I have only told my immediate family, being my spouse, son, daughter, and a few really good friends. My daughter was against it, she said you can do this yourself. My best friend told me, "your not that big, getting the surgery is stupid." My daughter came around and my best friend is still not supportive of it. She keeps telling me I'm in starvation mode and I can't do this forever. I feel like it is an attack and I just don't talk to her about it anymore. She is still ver intrusive and thinks she knows best. I told her my goal weight is 130 lbs and she freaked out. "Your going to be too skinny and look terrible." I realize that we both have an opinion and I'm sticking with mine. I know she cares about me mostly, but the other part, I wonder if she's envious. Either way I say I don't care, but I really do. It's hurtful that she can't be more supportive. I basically haven't told other extended family members about my surgery, except for my sister in-law and she wishes her daughter could have one also. She has most likely told the rest of the family too, but they haven't said anything to me. I am happy with my decision and would make the same decision again in a heart beat. I have so much more energy now and am more motivated to do more.... This is my life and I'm going to enjoy it....... Your dad will get over this. Talk with him and tell him that you have really thought this though and am happy with your decision. Tell him that you love him and would like him to support you. That you are not going to change your mind. Keep positive and assertive, but gentle. He was angry because you told him alot later and that hurt him. His anger is about his hurt feelings. It's okay, we all have hurt feelings!

What I Learned So Far About The Sleeve ,there Is Hope.
Ms skinniness replied to Liliana Arleen's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thank you for this inspirational talk. I have been fluctuating in lbs since Xmas and find myself just so flustered that I ate things yesterday that I haven't eaten since before the surgery. I am now back on track and refocusing my energy. I have been loosing inches but I'm so focused on the stupid #'s on my scale. I am working on letting that go. It's easier said then done. Wow, I am really upset with all this. Sorry for the venting. Thank you again for the inspiration.. Keep up the hard work! This is not easy!. -

Protein - What Is It Doing Other Than Constipating Me?
Ms skinniness replied to gettingtohappy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People that are getting in their protein tend to lose more weight. This is what I have noticed for postings on this site. Also gives us energy and the feeling of being full. Replenishes are cells and helps with our muscles, hair, nails, and bones. -

Urgent - Advice Needed Please
Ms skinniness replied to bratvp63's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Gosh, so much good adice. In my situation, I would have had a difficult time rescheduling my surgery due to the long list of people waiting for the surgery. I had to schedule 6 to 8 weeks in advance. What I would do would be to sit down and talk to my spouse and other family members and ask them what they think. You did say you would be moving into a new home really soon. Is there anyone that could help you after the surgery because you most likely would not be able to carry anything over 10 lbs for approximately 8 weeks. If they agree that this is something you should do as scheduled, then take it 1 day at a time afterwards. Life goes on. But, please discuss this with family and take very good care of yourself. -
Am I Being Ridiculous?
Ms skinniness replied to wondering1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Umm, the lady that was talking to you in the waiting room has given us some clues into why she has not loss any further weight. She eats whatever she wants. She's not even trying. Some people have the impression that they can eat whatever they want and not change his/her eating habits. They still eat alot of junk food that has no nutritional balance with hugh amounts of fat and sugar. They just eat smaller amounts. This is sad because they had been given the tools to assist in weight loss but haven't adjusted his/her thinking. In order to get full optimum with weight loss, 3 components have to be meant: decrease in calories, eliminate all unhealthy food choices, and challenge his/her negative thoughts. Oh and there's a 4th: he/she needs to start exercising, even if it's just moving more. That's the reason that people are required to see a nutritionest and a psychiatric eval. So sorry for her, but please embrace yourself and keep eating healthier and challenging all the negative thoughts that come along and you will get to goal. Irene: You look awesome once again! Keep it up and thank you for all the wonderful encouragement you give to others! Your ROCK! -

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! That's a really great feeling! I hope to have that experience soon. My hair is really fine and blows with each little breeze. Need to go get a color but am afraid my beautician will cause me to have more hair loss. Hmmmmm, I'm afraid to be bald. Is your hair growing back in now. My PA told me that it usually starts growing back at 9 months. Congrats! Let's keep it coming in. -
Too Full Again...............
Ms skinniness replied to fluffylibra30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, it is better to under eat than eat too much. My surgeon's office tells us to take a bite every 10 minutes. I don't do this but I eat slower and I try to take measured amounts. I did something stupid today. I got angry at my daughter because she didn't do something I asked her to do before she left. So what did I do, I took the chili cheese fritos off her dresser and I ate a whole bunch. Now I am so uncomfortable and upset with my responding to a trigger and munching down on junk food. Yecks! I haven't done that for ions. Time to get back on track and recognize the trigger and exercise instead. Easier said than done. Eat moderately and slow, use small utensils and small desert size plates to eat on. I have a beautiful desert plate that I always use and I love it! It's beautiful. -

Numbness In Calf Of Leg
Ms skinniness replied to cscake's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may have a blood clot that is stopping circulation. You need to go to the ER ASAP! A blood clot is really dangerous. Play it safe, and go. Let us know how your doing. Don't mean to scare you, but it is extremely urgent to rule that out. Please let us know how your doing. very worried -
Are You Happy With Your Choice?
Ms skinniness replied to MiTurner247's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If I had chosen to have the bypass, It would have been fine. I didn't like the malasorbtion effect. Both surgeries are great for weight loss and with both surgeries, you can gain weight back. We will always have our triggers to eating the wrong foods unless we get a handle on it right now. It is highly beneficial to have a therapist walk with you through the process helping you discover what your triggers are and to use better coping skills to change those triggers. This is part of my on going journey to a new me. Love IT! -
Sounds wonderful! Thanks for sharing!

Ms skinniness replied to Cheles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

"low" Bmi--Are You Likely To Loose Too Much Weight?
Ms skinniness replied to seansmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5'6" and had a low BMI and have (or had) diabetsis. I was at 213 around surgery date and am doing quite well. I've dropped 50 lbs. I weigh about 163 right now and am aiming for 130 lbs. You are going to do fine. I wouldn't worry about it until it happens. In which, it probably won't happen and you will have eliminated all that time worrying about something that didn't happen. -
Just Saw And Felt The Results Thus Far!
Ms skinniness commented on Soon to be me's blog entry in Soon to be me's Blog
Hey, this is just the beginning, in a couple of weeks or maybe 1 month, you will need to buy new pants, because those won't fit anymore. It's exciting. I haven't lost weight for about 3 weeks and I'm noticing that my size M blouse (that I love so much) is actually getting too big. I would have never thought I'd get down past a M. So stoked! Keep up the losing it will happen, and actually it is happening. ROCK THAT SLEEVER girl!
