A person does not go into starvation mode unless her/his body fat is at 5%/male or 6% for a female and then starvation mode happens according to a study I had read. No I do not drink with my meals, I go by the 30/30 rule. I do not want to take any risks. I have started using a Personal Trainer and working on core strenght, walking and using a recumbant bike for the past 3 weeks. And have been eating at 1100 calories for a few days but for the month previous have been eating a 900 calorie diet. Not that many carbs.

What Is Your Favorite Meal After Being Gastric Sleeved?
Ms skinniness replied to yecats's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
I really like eating chicken tortilla soup w/0 the tortilla. It is so good. I also like baked potato soup with cheese. Recently decided to stop eating the potato soup due to all the pesticides that's in the potato, unless I learn how to make it with organic potatos. Ummmm, I just might do that next week after my basic bootcamp is done. -
Thanks for all the info. I've been wondering if the calories that we do consume, if under 900 is harming us in some unknown way. I know that I have been stuck since Xmas and want to figure out this calorie intake stuff. Are we in starvation mode under 1200 calories? I read on the internet that we only inter starvation mode when our body is 6% for a women or 5% for a man. Yet my weight has ceased. Ummmmm. Does anyone have any answers for me? Please, I really want to know. Thanks everyone.

I had pain in my left side when I did tooooo much. However, it wasn't intense. I agree that you should call your surgeon back. -
(Vsg) Prove Them Wrong! - Where Does Yours Apply?
Ms skinniness replied to Sleeve2B's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I basically had to surgery because I was diabetic and I was scare of what diabetsis does to us. It's in remission, however my A1C is still at a 6. No worries it will go down. I love the loss of weight. I am wearing sizes I never thought possible. And, I love it! I hope to go down to a size 6. I'm 5'6" and weight 163, but bouncing a couple of pounds. I am at a stall since Xmas. But I will get out of this stall soon. Yes, friends and families get really threatened by our weight loss and our beautiful bodies getting more healthier. Who would of thought that this is us? LOVE IT! Congrats! Keep rockin that sleeve! -
Bougie? (Mispelled)
Ms skinniness replied to ProudGrammy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
my bougie size was 34. It doesn't make too much of a difference. You are doing great and that's all that counts. Keep up the good work and don't worry about the bougie size. It's just a guide, and not that much difference. -
My Incisions Are Worrisom
Ms skinniness replied to Tinette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How about the steri strips that pulls it tight. Best thing to do would be to call the surgeon's office. -
Wow, it is really painful when we discover our friends just liked us because we were less threatening. I'm thinking that these people really would like to have a surgery to help them lose weight. I believe that some of our friends are so side swiped by our decisions and loss of weight, they don't know what to say. However, I do have a friend that made me really upset due to her telling me I'm in starvation and I can't keep doing this. What does she know? Where is she getting her information? She is always putting down the medical profession and now she's citing them! I have just decided that I don't need this anymore and will see her alot less often! She has just challenged me in so many ways. SHe's very competitive and I don't really want to be that way with my dear friends. I do forgive her for alot of her stupid remarks that she gives no thought too. Oh well, I'm sure I will find more of these people......

Carbs Debate
Ms skinniness replied to tntransplant06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL I did the Lindora diet. Same as Atkins. I stopped losing and so I upped the calories in my diet and nothing. I have even begun core body training 3 weeks ago, so maybe the weight gain (2lbs) is muscle, but still discouraging. Today is first day of bootcamp. YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! this should do it. -

How Different We Really Are
Ms skinniness replied to bellabbr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
jhope: This is great! Congrats on your decisioin! Why be bummed about never getting to eat a meal again? That is not true. Your meals will just be alot smaller and more healthy. Plus food will be less costly for you. I find this totally awesome. We don't need all the food we ate in the past anyways. I feel much better about myself and more confident in everything I do. Eat less and smile......... It's fantastic! -

Would You Make An Alcoholic Stop Drinking Before Rehab? Anger!
Ms skinniness replied to seansmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was required to do a diet before surgery by Kaiser and I loss weight. Referred to the surgeon and then they told me my BMI was too low. Then I pointed out that I was dx as diabetic, and they told me it wasn't in the records. WTF! I told them that I chose not to take the medication of diabetsis. Made another appointment with the doc because at this point, I was trying to gain weight. Then the doctor said that she seen the dx of diabetsis in my records and said it was a go. I couldn't believe the hoops we have to go through for better health. We are now here and I am doin great! -
Conrats! Time is here.... Sit back and enjoy the ride, no since in getting anxious, be patient, and be happy the time has come. So happy for you!

Wait...shouldn't Calories Per Day For Weight Loss Still Work The Same As Pre-Op?
Ms skinniness replied to jewelwithin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 4 months post op and I have been averaging less than 1100 calories a day. It takes alot of focusing and tracking. My NUT told me I should be eating 1200 calories by now, so I thought that I'd be losing weight. NOT! Maybe it's because I have gained some muscle weight from exercising. Who knows.... Tomorrow is the Basic Bootcamp diet! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY! Thank you Irene for your guidance. -
CONGRATS! Very happy for you. Don't worry toooooo much. The pain isn't bad afterwards. You can do it.....
-
This looks like a really good recipe. I will have to try it. Thanks.......
-
Thank you Shae: Hey. we are all learning every day new things to help us get back on track. I have been increasing my fluid intake and keeping busy doing other things like walking or calling a friend. The fluid increase helps with my head hunger. I try to just focus on nutritional stuff instead and eating a little more often. It seems like it's helping.

Drinking While Eating
Ms skinniness replied to bellabbr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Alot of nutrients are absorbed in the small intestine. The reason for not drinking fluids with the meal is so that the food isn't flushed down to the small intestine where your stomach isn't giving a full signal, therefore, we eat more. That could add to increased weight gain or no weight loss at all. -
It could be dumping. I had that for the past couple of years before my surgery. Now it's the opposite. Sorry TIMI. LOL
