Major Bump In The Road
Ms skinniness replied to aldmb2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
this is so frustrating. I was told by Kaiser that I had to loose a certain percentage of my weight before given a referral for this procedure. I lost weight and when I was 3 week away from surgery, the surgeon told me my BMI was too low for insurance to cover it. WTF! I tried everything I could to gain weight and couldn't. Then I went in and talked with the surgeon and told her I was taking Lisnipril to protect my kidney's because I have diabetes. She went and checked the records and then ok'd it. I was so angry and frustrated, and worried about being turned away at the morning of the surgery. It was horrible. I'm so sorry your having this problem. It sucks! The doc can get it over turned, he just has to take the time to speak with the insurance company, in which he should of done this months ago!. ARGGGG! Good luck and I cant' wait to see you at the LOSER'S BENCH! -

i've told pretty much everyone I know about my surgery and no one has ever said anything like that to me. Then again, I only care about the people I love and their opinions. Other people can struggle with their own opinions! -

Revision To Ds
Ms skinniness replied to PEvette's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I believe that I have to work with my sleeve to have success. I have to find coping skills to stop myself from sabotaging my weight with old triggers to eating the wrong thing. It will be a problem fo a long time. The sleeve is a great tool to decrease our appetites. It will be with us forever. I love my sleeve, it's me! -

Week 11-- Sooo Bummed Right Now. But Tryin To Keep My Head Up
Ms skinniness commented on blackanese25's blog entry in blackanese25's Blog
My week is really strange also. My father in-law who is 92 years old fell and hit his head and fractured the back of his skull. It was also my birthday and anniversary. Spent them in the hospital with him and family. That was nice i was able to see family I haven't seen in ages. But, I haven't been very good with my diet. I've been eating some candy here and there. Had times when I felt like I was deprived of food and ate stuff I shouldn't have. I find my head looking for things to eat and my stomach isn't hungry. I need to go back on the basic bootcamp diet starting tomorrow. Yep, that's what I'm going to do. Sorry I got off on a tangen. Since you have injuries from previous accidents, then it's time to take better care of your wonderful body. It's ok to take a little time off to heal, your get farther in the long run. I love your ambition of the tough mudder competition! That's determination in the process. But slow down enjoy your down time and get back on track when the pain has subsided. -
Running up those stairs did it! It aggravated that muscle that has the incision in it. When ever I traveled up the mountain, my incision site where the muscle is always got sore with some pain. It lasted about 8 weeks post op. Try not to aggravate the muscle and you will be fine.

Congrats! Just go and listen to the orientation and follow the directives as much as possible. This has been a great experience for me and I would do it again in a heart beat! Best wishes.

Will A Revision Work For Me?
Ms skinniness replied to alfieo's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
You are having alot of head hunger. I'm glad your seeing a therapist. However, your not losing weight because you give in to your head hunger. If you want to loose weight, you need to avoid those foods that made you fat to start with. pizza for me is a big no no. I would be eating Protein, protein, and protein, veggies, and tiny bit of starches. You really need to focus on the food you fuel your body with. Your lap band is not to blame, it is the choices of food you choose. I really hope I'm not being harsh, I just want to be honest with you. Start changing your dies and start exercising. You will begin to lose weight and retrain your thoughts to activities instead of food. -

I Was Sooo Bad Yesterday!
Ms skinniness replied to upwardfocusedgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Woww. At 4 weeks out i was still eating soft foods like yogurt, Protein shakes, sf puddings, and maybe a scrambled egg. I am fearful of not losing my weight so I try to under eat my sleeve. I myself would not be able to eat what you at in one meal. I am 4.5 months post op and maybe eat 2 oz of dense protein, a bite or 2 of veggies and I am so done. Full to the brim. I did have a bad day yesterday and ate more than I should have, and have learned a lesson. I will never do that again. I like not feeling my stomach feel compressed. Please take it slow. What's the rush. This is the time to change all the old habits that contributed to your weight before surgery. Don't have those horrible foods in your house where you can see them and have the head hunger that not real hunger. It's really really hard, but you can do this. -
Newbie Here - Surgery Date This Friday!
Ms skinniness replied to nikki264's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yayyyyy! We have a new club member coming! This is the best decision I have ever made and I wish I could of done it earlier in my life. Welcome and I look forward to hearing how your progressing! Can't wait for your surgery so I can welcome you to the BIG LOSER'S BENCH! -
I'm from OC's Kaiser and I attended the Option's program there. They reduced the 6 month period to a 12 week time period and I had to wait until that department contacted me for class time availability. I took the first class that was available and went through the process. After finishing the Option's I was referred to the Dr. Leport's office. That took about 6 weeks, and then I had to wait for a surgery date. It was a long process, but in the Option's class, I learned so much. It was very helpful. Good luck on your journey, it's well worth it.
