Does Your Mirror Lie?
Ms skinniness replied to Ms skinniness's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Coop ~ We all have time where we present our exteriors as confident, but inside, we're not. I call it my prasod! I'm learning to just be me and that I'm okay with who I am. It's wonder land for me. LOL -
I found this to be very interesting reading. Enjoy; When the Mirror Lies By diane_petrella on Mar 01, 2012 10:00 AM in Dieting & You By Diane Petrella, MSW As you release weight from your body, do you still see a “fat” person in the mirror? Or do you see the thinner you beginning to emerge? When old images of yourself distort your perception, take charge and create a mind-set that accepts the changes you’re making. Shift Your Self-Image Many people see themselves as “fat” even when they release a significant amount of weight. This occurs because the inner pictures we hold of ourselves are very powerful. Even with concrete evidence, as in the numbers on a scale, our mind can distort reality to fit our familiar, negative self-image. To remedy this, as you release weight from your body learn to release the weight from your mind so you can emotionally adapt to the new you. Here are four suggestions to help you see progress even when your eyes deceive you. 1. Record Your Successes Keep a log of how many pounds you’ve released, changes in clothes size, improvement in exercise and ways your body moves more easily. Include compliments received from friends. For a stronger effect, post these successes on your mirror. Use these reminders as concrete evidence of your new weight and the healthy changes you’re making. 2. Create New Affirmations Release old ways of thinking and affirm the new you with positive thoughts. For example, when you catch yourself saying, “I’m fat”, tell yourself firmly, “Stop. That’s an old way of thinking. I release that thought as I release excess weight. I am healthy and fit.” When you first say this, it may feel contrived. That’s OK. Say it anyway. Act “as if” it is true, which, in fact, it is as confirmed by the physical evidence you have. After a while saying these positive affirmations, and seeing yourself as thinner, feels more natural. 3. Connect With Your Body While our eyes sometimes distort the image we see in a mirror, our body itself communicates the truth. Close your eyes and tune into your body. Feel your body weighing less. Feel what it’s like to wear looser fitting clothes. Feel your body move easily. As you connect with how your body feels, your new self-image begins to merge with the new body you’re creating. 4. Visualize Your Goal Weight Close your eyes and imagine reaching your goal weight. For example, see yourself walking along the street feeling confident and moving your body with ease. The mind doesn’t know the difference between what’s real and what’s imagined so when you visualize you’re actually sending the message to your subconscious mind that you’ve reached your goal. This helps you reprogram limiting beliefs into positive pictures of success. Go Deeper if Necessary While the above suggestions help develop confidence, sometimes deeper issues related to earlier traumatic experiences cloud our perception. The “fat person” in the mirror may reflect pain from the past and won’t leave until she’s noticed. If this applies to you, please seek out professional support. By learning to love and comfort your “inner child”, you become emotionally safe to release excess weight with confidence. Your thoughts... Who do you see in the mirror? Will Exercise Make Me More Hungry After I'm Sleeved?
Ms skinniness replied to SexySlim's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I notice that when I'm bored, I tend to start looking and thinking about some kind of snack. If someone has any unhealthy snacks here, I will find it and munch a little. I've been making high protein (protein powder) pancakes and pumpkin banana high protein bread that is delicious. That helps take care of any hunger whether head hunger or real hunger. It works and make me happy. -
Now that's a great NSV! Can't wait until the jacket is way toooooooo big! LOL

I posted "Does the Mirror Lie to You?" I thought it was really interesting reading with a lot of great ways to connect our mind with our body, especially when we have a picture of our old body in our mind. It was so good.

All Over Body Pain
Ms skinniness replied to Bedhead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree that you need to go see the doc because you will be stressing out on this until you know what it is. If they can't get you in, then call the doc's office on the phone and tell them what's going on. Meanwhile, try to drink more fluids and get some protein in. Let us know how your doing. -
Welcome to this wonderful support group! I have been so blessed with everyone on here. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

It is totally frustrating for everyone when we are in a stall. We get so scared that we had 85% of our stomachs cut out and for what? Losing just a few lbs. But in reality, it took us months and years to put the weight on, and we have tried every diet out there to lose weight, to gain it right back. In reality, are bodies are doing great to shred all these lbs as quick as we do. Yes we do have times when the scale stops moving, but that is a time when our bodies our adjusting. This is the most valuable time to me bc I'm losing inches when my scale stops moving. Our bodies after surgery has to heal, shred lbs, and is deprived of nutrients by our sleeve restriction. So over all, I have learned to honor my body and let it heal, and the bonus is: I'm losing inches and I love looking really great. I love the compliments from others that I look really hot! Please be patient and treasure your body because it's the only one we will ever have. Take great care of the body and make sure it gets all the Protein and fluids to help in shredding all your unwanted pounds. We are doing this!

There is so much conflict on this topic. I just hit the unfollow button because there is no win or lose here. Let's all agree that it's ok to disagree and go on our Merry way supporting each other. There is no reason anyone should be rude on this site. -

Almost Died Fm Vsg Surgery.
Ms skinniness replied to Kim David's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sorry for your horrible experience. It was the horrible care you received at this hospital that was below the "standard of care" in most hospitals. This is a tough case and if you fight it, make sure you can present the evidence beyond a reasonable doubt as to the unethical standards of this hospital. You did great by calling 911! Good job! Hang in here and let us know how your doing. -
