Can Eat Bad Food....uh Oh
Ms skinniness replied to Joiebean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wowwww. have you guys watched the expose on toxicity of sugar on 60 minutes? After watching the expose my DH and self looked at each other and decided to cut the sugar out of our diet. Sugar is a craving like Cocaine and when we have sugar, our blood gets thicker and sticks to our arteries and causes blockages. This is just short. I really recommend that if you have the time your google 60 minutes and watch it. I don't need these cravings so I choose to give sugar up. Easier said than done! -

Finally - 8 Week Stall Is Over! (I Hope!)
Ms skinniness replied to Soon2BMiniMommy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm pretty much in the same boat with you. I'm kinda like, WTH, i know i should lose about 14 lbs but my body says no. I'm trying to shift my mind set to letting my body do what it wants, when it wants and to keep feeding it healthy. I have started giving up sugar and keeping it clean. It's still pops in my mind. Oh well, today is a new day and I did go for a long walk with my DH. That felt good. The last time we did that walk, was right before we came down with whooping cough. That was a year ago. LOL Thanks for sharing I really needed to hear this. -
It's probably due to hormone fluctuations....... I didn't have this problem thankfully. It will clear up.....

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Ms skinniness replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had those difficulties before the sleeve, but I'm only 6 months post op so I hope I don't fall back in those patterns. I'm working on having a no sugar diet right now. That means no added sugars or artifical sweeteners, fructose (only in fruit). I am a sugar addict and sugar is as addictive as Cocaine. There was a program on 60 minutes discussing the toxicity of sugar. I highly advise that you look it up and read or view the episode. Right now, I hate sugar, but it does taste good. Maybe you can start by stop eating the candy and don't eat after a certain time at night. Focus on Proteins and then veggies, no chips, etc. Get all those unhealthy foods out of your house. If your family brings them home, then sit down and ask them for their help and ask then not to bring these foods home. They can eat them outside of your home. You can do this, it's just getting refocused. Maybe counseling could help also. -
How Do You Detach Yourself From Food?
Ms skinniness replied to adrimc26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before surgery I liked to eat. I loved going out to eat with my family and friends. I liked to eat whatever. I did struggle with a mental image of eating a lot less food but had also decided that as humans, we eat way too much food. So with Kaiser we were required to lose 10% of our weight so I intentionally cut my meals into half. I had really struggled with this because I was so hungry all the time. But, I had diabetes and high chloresterol and was so afraid of the diabetes, I just did it. Now, this is the best decision I could have made. Yes, I still struggle with head hunger and if I don't eat at a certain time, I get panicky and I get grumpy. But now I realize that I was addicted and still am to sugar. So my sugar monster is evil and lead me back to unhealthy eating habits that I had before. So, I am staying away from sugar! It helps. I don't need it. I don't want to gain my old weight back. So I am choosing to be happy with just a tiny bit of Protein and veggies. Oh and the best thing I do for myself is, I eat on some beautiful desert size bowls or plates. They are the right size and it is a priviledge to have a elegant desert plate. I purchased them for a couple of bucks of ebay. This makes me feel special. -

How To Stop Losing
Ms skinniness replied to Sleevie WonderLand's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
gosh, maintenance is a pain in the butt. I am at a point where I am just going to eat healthy, increase my exercise and just be happy being me. If I lose more weight that's great, if I don't, I still feel healthier and have a lot more energy than before. I'm going to focus on protein and veggies and water and cut the sugar out of my diet as much as possible. After all, sugar is addicting and it triggers us to eat more. Yep,,,,,, no more added sugar for me. Oh, and I am really going to cut out processed foods completely. I can do this! It's worth it! This is maintence and a new way of life. -
Here we go again. My scale is a total liar! This morning it was up 2 lbs and 2 hours later the scale went down 2 lbs. WTH. It is not a very good reinforcement to step on the scale anymore. I will do a liquid diet today. I think it's water weight. Humm!

Leg Pain? What Would You Do?
Ms skinniness replied to mommy794's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you really need to do some walking. Stop driving about every hour and walk for about 5 minutes. If your the passenger, then remind yourself to move your legs. Stick them straight as much as possible. flex them. And take baby aspirin. This is a risky time to develop blood clots, so take preventive measures to avoid. Hope this helps. -

Anyone Else Still Really Self Conscious About Their Looks?
Ms skinniness replied to fern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear your struggle. It would be ideal if we all could get some kind of therapy to help us with our underlying issues that got us to this point. There are a lot of people that have had wls and end up putting the weight back on due to the underlying issues. This is a great time to get some additional help in continuing our journey to a healthier new us. If we take a step back and realize that it's ok to get help and that it's a team effort to live a healthier new life. I'm on my journey for a healthier new life and my family is also part of it. My hubby has been changing his eating habits too. I do need help, and will get the help. I don't want to gain my weight back. I guess I started responding to this OP and now I realize that I'm talking to myself also. You have a beautiful body and will do fine. Yes, we have a lot of skin but it's just skin. You probably don't have as much skin as you think you do. I know mine looks like a lot to me, but it's really not. Does that make sense? -

Ms skinniness replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
GT: I'm with you on the sugar addiction. When you go to the movies tonight, look at the popcorn as a ton of lard! That's right, a ton of lard! That might help. Oh, I always eat before going to the movies and that helps a lot. Candy is evil, it will sabotage your wonderful day. -
AMAZING! That's about a lb a day almost! CONGRATS!
