What helps me is that I made sure that I had my protein drink before preparing food for my family. It helped a lot. -
Long Term Success?
Ms skinniness replied to Addison's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, I'm 8 months post op and have had no complications. Weight loss is a little slow right now. I weight 149 lbs and my personal goal is to get to 130 - 135 lbs. I have a bounce weight of 2 - 3 lbs but I think everyone does. I really need to kick up my exercising. I find every excuse not to do it and am finding myself in a funk. Need to kick my A$$.........LOL I love my skinniness! My posture has changed drastically. -
Too Big For Surgery?
Ms skinniness replied to Beanzilla's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is very frustrating for you, yet another obstacle to keep you from succeeding. I would contact other docs in Mexico. I reason your opting for this surgery is because of your obesity. Don't give up, I hear Dr Aceves and Dr Garcia are really excellent surgeons! Don't give up, it can be done. Praying for you. -

Made My Goal :) And Venting Frustration...
Ms skinniness replied to GonnaLoseIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My best friend does this to me. Last time I seen her she said, "I can't handle your skinniness!" It made me kinda sad but on the other hand, it puts a big smile on my face! Others are use to seeing us at our heaviest and it is a drastic change for them to see us shed our weight. I love my skinniness and have a personal goal of about 130 to 135 lbs. But, I will always be watching what I eat, lean proteins, veggies, with a little starches. -
What Are Your Best Tips For Eating Slowly?
Ms skinniness replied to AngieG0410's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is what I really need to focus on. Slowing down when eating. I find myself eating fast. When I go out with my hubby and children, I get frustrated because they eat so much and it takes them a long time to eat. I am repulsed by their eating. I am constantly wanting to tell my hubby to slow down, it seems as if he's shoveling one bite after another. Sorry for the rant........... -
That's your self conscious trying work out your conflict.

I'm So Discouraged And So Disappointed
Ms skinniness replied to Calicolea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is so frustrating when we stall and it feels like yet another failure on our list. But it's not a failure. Your body is most likely adjusting and redistributing the weight loss. Hope you took measurements, if you haven't, now would be a great time. You are just like everyone else. We all have stalls. So frustrating. -

Ask the surgeon what his private pay cost is. The surgeon could have a different price for self pay clients. -
I Cheated I Was Depressed
Ms skinniness replied to georgia728's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a lot of controversy over whether or not we can stretch our sleeve. My surgeon's office says that we can stretch our sleeves and have people coming back in to have the stapleline redone closer for better restriction because they stretched their sleeves. They say that where the stapleline is, there is some fundus that is the stretchy part of the surgery that stretches. They also use the fundus in the RnY procedure which explains why they can stretch their pouches. Anyhoo, I really don't want to find out so I try to under eat my sleeve. Doesn't always work though. -
Not Losing Sizes Fast
Ms skinniness replied to ShoeLover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing just fine! When you least expect it, the inches will just melt away. Keep up the great job! -
You probably won't be able to eat more than a few bites. I did, and discovered that I don't like tortilla's any more. I don't really like breads either.

Why don't you just do the one session before your surgery? There is some valuable information that you can get that will help you get started. Just because they want you to have therapy doesn't mean your crazy. It just means that you need some new coping skills to get through the hurdle. It's an all win situation! No losses, just wins all the way around!

If this is for your surgery, I would consider going to Mexico. From what I've heard, they do a superior job! And it's in your price range. -
Psychological Issues
Ms skinniness replied to Sansa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In a psych eval, they're looking for issues that can cause the person to fail. Some people get these WLS thinking that this is going to cure his/her eating problems forever where as we all know, it's just a tool to help us achieve a healthier life style. Some people, and a lot of us have done this, is to eat to self soothe. It's the same as self medicating with drugs. food helps us feel numb. The psych evaluation tells you where the person is and if he/she has the ability to process and/or learn new coping skills. Here is what I found on the web: WHY DO I NEED A PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION FOR WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY? There are actually two reasons for the evaluation. The first is that it is a requirement based on guidelines established by the National Institute of Health for all patients before bariatric surgery can be offered. The second reason is that surgeons as well as the insurance companies also require it to ensure your health and safety. Weight Loss Surgery is a life altering procedure. As with any major surgery, weight loss surgery can have complications including death, and in the case of the gastric bypass procedure, it is irreversible. For these reasons, the decision to go forward with surgery should not be taken lightly. An evaluation ensures that you are: 1. able to make such a decision 2. understand the consequences of your decision 3. have no underlying psychological conditions that would prohibit you from adhering to the life changes that are required following surgery.
