    New To The Family

Yes, it does get easier each day. Are you walking as often as possible? Are you getting as much water in as possible. Water use to hurt my stomach so I switched to low calorie gatorade diluted with water and for some reason, my stomach was more receptive and I was able to get more water in! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! You are doing this and BTW, Welcome to the BIG LOSER'S BENCH! Looking forward to hearing more from you.

    Seafood Restaurant Test

It is somewhat disappointing when we go out to eat with family or friends and we can't eat the foods we love after the surgery. I went out to eat with my family and was so looking forward to vegetable beef soup broth at my favorite restaurant only to find out that they didn't have it on the menu that day. I was totally lost. I ended up drinking some au jus and that was so unfulfilling. I was actually drooling over my hubby's hamburger. I was in a state of panic at that time! Of course it was all in my mine. Now I can eat anything I want but in smaller portions. I eat about 1/4th of a meal served at a restaurant. Now I'm going to just be ordering off the side menu as an add on to my hubby's dinner or lunch. Yep, that's even tooooooo much! I love it though.
  3. Hey, I am hoping to get some feedback from others. I have been realizing that I have a lot of head hunger going on. I think I'm hungry when I'm actually thirsty. My head hunger is like a giant dragon that's slaying me! I can talk myself into eating anything. Last night I had a humongous meal at the Red Lobster. Now my head hunger is telling me that I'm needed to go into maintenance and that it's ok to eat a little bit carbs. So how do you guys deal with your dragon (head hunger)?
  4. Coops: I am LMOA! Thank you so much, i will have to visualize that! I am making strives at recognizing that I think I'm hungry no matter what my stomach is telling me. This has always been a problem for me. I know that I have a core issue when it comes to shopping for food items. Now I buy food and it just spoils because I really don't eat it. Lots of stuff to work on. Thank you for my new coping skill of visualization of you in your full boxing kit, "slaying my nasty dragon." Hope things are going better for you my skinny friend! You are very tiny! Yayyyyyyyyyyyy! Let's rock these sleeves!
  5. When you are 3 weeks post op, your stomach is still swollen some. This is quite an adjustment for your stomach getting different textures of food. You will be able to eat more as time goes by and depending on whether it's a dense protein or not. Not rush it,you are doing just fine. It is frustrating to not be able to eat more of your favorite foods, but it's well worth it. Keep up the great job! And you will love your skinniness when you are near goal.

So Glad I Found This Site!

Wow, I choose the sleeve bc of less complications and it's permanent. Lap band is not permanent and I knew it's not for me. I just knew that I was eating way too much food and that if I didn't do something, i was going to die. i was so unhappy. now I'm totally happy and loving my new body every day. Yayyyyyyyyyy for us sleevers! This is an addiction for me, getting skinny and eating healthy with exercise.

I take my biotin daily. 10,000mcg. It works great. I also take silica too.

    Taking Biotin. Greasy Hair?

I have been taking biotin since 4 weeks post op and my hair was really dry in the beginning. At around 6.5 months my hair started growing back and I stopped losing my hair too. Now, at 8 months my hair does get oily the next day. I use really expensive shampoo and I really don't want to wash my hair twice so I'm happy with the way it's going now. My hair is growing really really fast too. Yayyyy!

    Motivation

I have had periods where I have no motivation to do anything. It's scarey and counterproductive for me. I am so goal orientated and have missed quite a few opportunities. What is your lack of motivation?

    Guilt

To be totally honest, we all have our self talk that makes up excuses for us to prolong this procedure. But something has brought you to wanting to get this surgery. Whether it's to be in your child's life longer or to improve your health. The truth is, you will be both of these things, 1. living longer for your daughter and 2. the benefit of being healthier so that you can take care of your daughter. We are all scared of the unknown and we have been taught by our parents that it's not okay to be selfish! Well, let me tell you, it is not selfish. We have to take care of our health and needs before we can truthfully take care of others. When you feel better about yourself and are happier, your family will be much happier too. Today for the first time, my husband told me he loves my body and that I'm so much happier! Wow, the blew me away. I am so thankful I didn't run away from this procedure! This is life changing for the better. Relationships all around you will change and your daughter will reap the benefits.

    Stand Still & No Loss

Wow! you have lost 18 lbs! That's great! Keep it up! Please try not to compare yourself to others, everyone loses at his/her own pace! Just keep eating healthy, protein first at all times and drink a lot of water.

    Full Feeling

Yep, and so does my thrist! It is so confusing at times.
  13. I love what Note2bear has stated. What a fine man you are! Keep it up! Your a keeper all right!
  14. Jan, as I read your post my heart went out to you and I got so angry at that husband of yours. How dare him treat you with such disrespect and teach your son to treat you bad also. I hope you threw the candy bars at him! Have you thought about counseling to help with your emotions and dealing with a volatile husband! If this continues then there is a possibility of regaining weight due to emotional issues. I hope you don't let him sabotage the beautiful "GODDESS" in you from coming out. I know you posted this to help someone else, but your story is really sad also.

    My Surgery Is Thursday!

This stage of the diet sucks! But the sleeve is a better choice for me than the lap band because it's permanent with less complications. You will do great so CONGRATS on your upcoming surgery date. Make sure you get up an walk in the hospital and sip, sip, sip your water.

    Low Energy?

This is quite normal. your tummy is still swollen a bit. Are you able to get pureed foods in at all. Can you eat yogurt, sf puddings or jello, cottage cheese? If you can get a little more protein in, you will have a little more energy. If you are dehydrated, it does cause fatigue so please increase your fluid intake to at least 64oz a day. This is a target for you. You are doing great so keep it up, it does get easier.

    Regret

In my first week of surgery, it hurt when I drank water. So I learned to mix my water with some low calorie G2 Gatorade and it was so much easier to get fluids down. Your tummy is so swollen right now and really needs a lot of fluids in. This is such a chore but well worth the effort.

    Hit On! At The Gym!

Suchaprettyface: Girl you Rock! What an inspiration. This is the time to embrace the new you and perhaps be thankful that your ex did what he did. His misdoing is not about you, that's his crap. There was something lacking in the marriage to begin with. So now you have the opportunity to find what you really need in a man. It's not easy and it can be really painful, but it's time to take care of you and you have by choosing this procedure! Keep it up and Take in being hit on! Yayyyyy!

    Chest Pain! Ed Trip! Ouch!

That's enough to scare the pant off someone! Hope you don't have anymore episodes like that one.

    Dehydrated

Drink lots of gatorade and head for the hospital. Dehydration is nothing to foul around with! Dehydration can cause damage to your kidney's, your blood gets thicker and your blood pressure will drop. So please go get an IV to help get you pasted this really quick. Urgent care's can also give you an IV. Keep us posted. Thanks

Low/no Carb Pure Whey Protien Powder

I know that a lot of people bought protein before the surgery and found out after the surgery, they hated it. I personally have the isopure vanilla and use it for cooking with. It tastes really great. But during the day, I love drinking the Premium Chocolate shake. I purchase it at Costco or Sam's club.

    Bmi

I'm 5'6" and my BMI was 36. I was only allowed to have the surgery because of a co-morbidity of diabetes. This is the best thing that I have ever fought for.
