Medical Review Went Amazing, Except Irritated @ The Hubby!
Ms skinniness replied to Mzluvee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What does your intuition tell you? Listen you your intuition! I was diabetic pre opt and when I asked my doc what her advice would be, she stopped a minute, thought about it, and said the sleeve. I basically am not diabetic and have my blood gluscose under control. I felt like the sleeve was better for me bc it's more permanent than the lap band and not as many complications as the GBP. I have fiend who choose the GBP bc her doc (at same office) recommended the GBP. Last time I touched base with her, she was having difficulties with eating and a lot of complications. She couldn't go out without getting sick when eating food. So I am so happy I made the right choice for me. Besides, there is more of a risk of stretching the pouch out in comparison to stretching our sleeve. This is a personal choice that you need to make. Ask yourself this question, Does your doctor have more experience with GBP, and what rational has he given you on why the GBP is better for you. I am no doctor, so this is JMO. -
Back Pain, Anyone?
Ms skinniness replied to MoreganK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My upper back is always getting sore (tired) and it's most likely due to a lack not getting in my exercises. My muscles are weaker now and I am trying to start exercising more but seem to avoid it totally. -
Is Something Wrong?
Ms skinniness replied to BroderDaniel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm wondering if what size bougie your doc used as a guide, and is it different the the bougie they used for your Mother? To be perfectly honest, you are so lucky you can get your water in and have less risk of dehydration. -
You are so lucky! I'm jealous! Also doing the happy dance with you! Congrats !

What Vitamins Do You Take?
Ms skinniness replied to sonshine823's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take an assortment of vitamins. I take a multivitamin, iron, B12, B complex, calcium chews, bioitin, and silica. I also take omeprazole because my body has difficulties with high fats and sugars. It gives me stomach problems. I do forget to take my vitamins though. I have a blood panel coming up next month and it will be my last visit to the surgeon's office at 10 months post op. Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy! I have had no complications. -
Hey O.T.R. I have a question for you. I know that estrogen is released when women are losing weight. Do men lose testerone when they're losing weight. Is Testerone stored in fatty cells? Do you have mood swings also. I hope you don't mind me asking, I'm just curious in nature.

Diagnosed With Sleep Apnea Today.... Feel Bummed
Ms skinniness replied to Sannah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
O.T.R. I love the banana phone! Made me laugh. I myself was not diagnosed with sleep apnea, but if my surgery would have been denied due to no comorbidities, I would be excited to have this due to the increased probability of getting the tool to help me loose weight. not only that, sleep apnea causes all your internal organs to work extra extra hard, which leave you feeling tired and that alone increases hunger. It also causes difficulties with mental processes. you lack the ability to think clearly and therefore places your life in danger when driving a car. So I am so excited you found this out and the fact your taking the steps to get the tool of the sleeve to help lose those pesky pounds and live a healthier life. You are so lucky! So happy for you! -
Sending healing energy your way! My prayers are with you.

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Ms skinniness replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, you have lost a 101 lbs! That's great. you will lose the remaining 100 as well. I find that when I use my special desert size bowls or plate, I don't over eat. I get a good feeling and i don't feel deprived. The desert size plates are perfect for portion sizes. I bought some elegant desert bowls and plates. I even give my husband his food on that also. Now when I'm in the mountain cabin, I don't have any of those plates up there, and I tend to over eat then and have a yucky feeling. I believe the first year is a trial period where we are learning about ourselves. This is a new lifestyle and we are making many life style changes for life. We are actually giving up our old coping devices to our daily stresses and our emotions. I am looking at how much $$ I save by eating such small portions. I know that if I put food on my plate that is too much, I most likely will try and eat it all. I really don't need all that food to begin with, just enough to nourish my body. Hope I didn't share too much. XOXOXO Dorrie -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Ms skinniness replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talking about sugar addiction, that's me. I decided to have a gelato yesterday and ordered a small one. I even told the server not to fill it up. As I was eating it, my stomach did not like it. It started to have a spasm. I ate a little more and now I really know that sugar is my enemy. If I want something sweet, I'm going to eat a piece of fruit instead. I love strawberries in salads or just plain. I really want to get to a comfortable size 6 pants and just eat in moderation. I am working on going out to eat and just ordering ala cart. I ordered a taco yesterday and just ate the carne asada w/o the tortilla. It was so filling. -
Five Years Post Op N Gaining Weight
Ms skinniness replied to NOLA Lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a Marriage and Family therapist and I highly recommend some therapy. Also, in addition, I highly recommend getting some medical help for the chemical inbalance. This is a time to refocus your attention to eating mindfully and keeping all the chocolates out of your mouth. Go back to basics. The BASICS BOOTCAMP: By LilMissDiva (Irene) For 5 STRICT DAYS I will eat only... Proteins: Seafoods, Poultry and eggs, Dairies, nuts/seeds including Peanut Butter. Veggies: Green only. Fruits: None. Breads/Cereals/Other Carbs: None. Fluids: One gallon of Water (128 oz.) or Protein drinks. Avoid: Sugar and Sodium Once the 5 days are over, I am pretty much over the Sugar Carb Demon. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate carbs! I do need them to live a healthy life and since I workout a lot it is important I have them. However, I need GOOD carbs. Whole grains, fruits, veggies... But I don't need processed sugars. White carbs, in cereals, breads, rice... etc. This plan will help get you back on track. It has worked for numerous people. Those people that miss treated you and caused you all this trauma are not worth the ground they walk on. You deserve to get back to a size 2 and rock that world of yours again. You are doing awesome by seeking help. But please get some therapy to help get past your trauma so that it doesn't traumatize you any more. Get your personal power back. -
