I just asked my PCP for a referral and he said yes. I had a low BMI but was diagnosed with diabetes and high cholesterol. The truth is, if he wouldn't refer me, then I would have found another PCP that would. Talk to the doc with honesty and see what happens. You might be really surprised. Tell the doc what you have tried for losing weight so he/she can document it. Oh and tell him you've been researching the different wls. In fact, I was telling my PCP that I was thinking about going to Mexico for the surgery. That might of helped. It will happen, trust in yourself.

One Week Out -- A Few Qs (Fluids And Neck Pains)
Ms skinniness replied to Nimm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a problem where drinking water my stomach would hurt. Then I mixed some water with G2 Gatorade and I was able to drink a lot more fluid without the discomfort. It worked for me. -
Having A Rough Day...
Ms skinniness replied to jhbk2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes we learn our lessons the hard way! I have for sure. Sometimes I forget I had the procedure and realize when I'm eating. Thank goodness I don't experience any bad side effects. I wish I did though, that would make me think twice. LOL -

OMG! I thought that I was the only one that went to the dark side! I have become such snob when it comes to eating now. I even get angry at my hubby for making bad choices at dinner and not wanting to share. I can't help (actually I don't want too). yayyyyyyyyyy! -
I eat chicken, pork, beef, dairy products like milk and cheese, sf pudding, cottage cheese, lots of nuts. It is important to get in some veggies too. I love beef jerky, yummy! I drink Premiers Shakes from costco or sam's club.

No Straw Ever!
Ms skinniness replied to lil4heartz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that I could never use a straw again but found out that at 8 months out I used a straw with no problems at all. In restaurants, I might take a few sips of water but nothing more. I was actually able to get more water in when I used a straw. -
I will be so happy when my rehab bathroom is finished and I don't have any one here at my house! I'm tired of being stressed out and I can't sleep well either. Waking up with a HA every AM sucks big time!

I love the premier shakes and it has like 30 grams of protein. But usually, I don't really focus on how much protein bc the majority of the food I eat is protein. I'm always over my protein amounts.

Having A Hard Time With The Words "pureed Food"... Ick!
Ms skinniness replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, you are totally stressing on this! you are not necessarily going to have nausea or that great level of pain after the surgery. The doc will assess and send you home with the necessary meds to assist with any after affects. Just relax, take a deep breath and it will happen and be over with. Take 1 step at a time. I get grossed out with eating pureed food so I didn't. I at a lot of soft foods like yogurt, sf puddings, etc. After the surgery the stomach is so swollen we can't eat that much anyways. Just a couple of bites at the most. Your surgeon's office will give you the stages of food and what you can eat, and what you can't eat. it will be fine. CONGRATS on your decision to join our club. -
LMAO! Isn't that a great feeling! Congrats!

Long-Term Vsg: When Did You Feel Like Capacity Stabilized/"stopped Growing"?
Ms skinniness replied to sirensiren's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am at 10 months out and am astonished at how much I can eat now. I'm trying to reel myself back in and eat proteins and veggies. Last night I ate all the meat out of a taco that was loaded with carne asada and pico de gallo. I didn't eat the tortillas. Sometimes I want to eat all day long, especially under stress and am bored. It does scare the hell out of me. -

I Feel Good Everyone! Look At Me I'm Transforming Lol And It Feels Great!
Ms skinniness replied to Adahlia's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
What a significant transformation! Can't wait to see pics later on too. Keep Rockin that sleeve! -
I hate secrets so I told everyone who mattered or asked. My personal integrity is more important than a nay sayer's negative comments. Now that I am a year out about, I find myself talking about eating healthy and smaller portion sizes. I don't find any need to talk about my sleeve, because they really don't want to hear about it anyways. This has been a change for me. When eating out, which I do a lot, I take the left overs home or better yet, I'm ordering side orders and am done with it. I actually eat a child's portion size now. Everyone has to make his/her own decision on whether to share or not. It's really no one else's business.

It's so funny to hear how people weren't exactly truthful in their psych eval. Let me tell you that as a therapist, we know when someone's not being up front with us. The psych eval is a tool to assist in making a determination if there are other complications that might interfear with a person's health, e.g. major depression, or other mental illnesses. -
