Diabetics That Have Had A Sleeve?
Ms skinniness replied to jules58's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I healed quickly with no complications with the surgery. My blood sugar is great and I'm on no meds for anything so far. -
Frustrated....
Ms skinniness replied to tallysfunny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, I didn't know that there was a PCP for bariatric's. I would try calling and asking for a sooner appt. Maybe someone had to cancel. Wishing you a lot of luck in this process. It sounds like you will benefit from this procedure too. -

Ms skinniness replied to tallysfunny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you schedule an appt with your PCP earlier? He might be able to order everything STAT basis. You can make up an excuse to see him sooner like for HA or better yet, the vibration in your leg is really really bothersome for you. That might help get a quicker appt to get the referral process moving quicker. At least with Kasier that works. -
Congrats! and welcome!

Frustrated....
Ms skinniness replied to tallysfunny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You probably will not get a date until all those things have been done, so this is a good time to start engaging in changing some of your habits like eating healthy foods and increasing exercise to get you ready for the surgery. Also see if you can make an appt with a NUT to go over ways to change your current diet. That will help with the transition. Relax and know that it will happen! -
How Many Calories (And Other Nutrients) Do You Eat Per Day On Average, Realistically?
Ms skinniness replied to nyxa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pretty much eat 900 to 1300 calories a day. I guess I shouldn't have lost my weight if I was in starvation mode. Hummmmmm....... it's a fallacy. -

Ms skinniness replied to MissAwesome's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This isn't normal. I'm glad you called your doctor. It's probably something minor but would be great to check it out. -

Who Knows About Your Wls
Ms skinniness replied to JDY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I pretty much told everyone that was important too me. My BFF was not supportive and would totally tell me I'm not that big, all I need to do is eat smaller portions etc. It was frustrating. She got over it and now hates shopping with me. Now she's the big one. Now, I don't really feel like I need to tell anyone about wls because it was 10 months ago. I just tell them that I'm eating healthier, smaller portions and feeling great. I tell them that I love my wl. Mind you, these are people that aren't significant in my life, the people that are significant, I have already shared with them. -
Looking For Post Surg People With Approx 100 Lbs To Lose/or Losing
Ms skinniness replied to Raven21's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have lost 77 lbs and it was within about 5 months then the weight lost slowed down a lot. This is a life time of good healthy eating with way less portion sizes. Congrats on your success and remember, this is not a race. And the slower you lose the better, it gives your skin time to reabsorb so your have less baggy skin. -
A stall is a normal part of the weight loss we have. This is when our bodies are adjusting in inches. When I had a stall, I would get all freaked out and think I was done losing. But I wasn't. I'd be careful eating sweets because sugar is totally addicting. This is where our bad habits sneak back in. So please be careful.....

I had to revisit my food plan to remind myself of what I could eat at what stage. It was such a pain. Can you eat some watered down Oatmeal? I still love my protein shakes in the AM. I'm 10 months out.

Ms skinniness replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I Am Really Starting To Miss Food!
Ms skinniness replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't really need to buy all the fancy dinners at restaurants and that I'm just as happy ordering off the side orders section. I don't miss it but I do struggle with wanting to control what my hubby is eating. he is always eating. So it's really hard to hold my tongue and let him learn his lessons. I know I wouldn't like him micromanaging what I ate previously. -
Diabetes Medication?
Ms skinniness replied to hockeymom1010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go Kathy! I went an had blood work and my A1c was 6.0 the first time, then I got dehydrated and my A1c had increased to 6.3. WTH? I had been eating a few small candies (mini bars for about 1 Week). So now I try to avoid the sweets. Or maybe it had increased because I stressed my body out by being dehydrated. Not sure. Does anyone know if G2 Gatorade can raise our blood sugar? I need to research this. -
Long Term Oz Sleevers?
Ms skinniness replied to robbie_rotten's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You are most likely having some acid reflux which memicks hunger. I was always hungry and then took a PPI (pepcid, prilosec, nexium etc) and my hunger went away. In addition I increased my fluid intake. This is not easy but it is doable. Congrats! -
Overeater With Sleeve Questions
Ms skinniness replied to sramos89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sleeve is just a tool. If making bad choices I can also gain weight back. I have to control what I put in my mouth and how much. My doc told me that we can still stretch the sleeve out and we also can learn ways to cheat using slider foods. I totally recommend learning new habits and making a commitment to eat healthy and exercise. Start practicing now and when you find yourself wanting to jump ship, refocus on why you want this change. It will help to reestablish new healthier habits. -
It Just Got Real
Ms skinniness replied to myownjourney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kaiser said they required 10% etc. But I didn't lose 10%. I lost less than that. However, I had a low BMI to start with and when I went to the surgeon's they almost denied me surgery because my BMI was too low. Since I was diagnosed with diabetes, I was able to get the surgery. I had met another person that didn't lose her required amount and she was referred to the surgeon's office also. I believe it's Fountain Valley Hospital. The hospital was kinda old but the care was great. No complications and I have lost 77 lbs since starting this journey.
