  1. Katie is absolutely correct. This is the time to take full advantage of your sleeve. Eat protein, protein, and more protein in small portion sizes. For the first 6 months, I barely ate anything but protein. Then I added veggies and some starches at the end. In fact focus on getting in more water now in between meals to flush out your body. You can do this, it's not too late.

    This is so true! When I don't get enough water, I feel so hungry and I eat a lot more! So let's all increase our water intake.

    Lil Msdiva Boot Camp Check-In 9/25-9/29

    Day 1 check in. I have had my protein drink this am and am just waiting to start my gallon of water for the day. This is a great start for everyone. Today I plan on all liquids like protein shakes and El Pollo Loco's Chicken Tortilla broth! It is so yummy. LilMissDiva, I have a question for you. Do you think that this will help shrink our stomach's also? I know my stomach can hold more now than a month a go and would love to have it shrink some.

    Caloric Intake

    This is great food for thought. I tend to do about 1200-1300 calories at times and I am still not moving the scale. Well it does go up some days though and then I freak out and cut back. I am sometimes curious as to whether the rules for us is different than the main stream population since we've drastically reduced our stomach size. I've been walking 2 miles most days of the week and feel great that way. But I am so afraid to eat 1300 calories right now. This is really scary stuff.

    Boot Camp Anyone?

    Ok, today's the day. I will also drink half my weight in water. That would be 125oz of water. Wow, that's a lot of water for me. i can do this. Today I will be drinking protein shakes, soups, and most of all, a gallon of water. Yep, that's my plan and I'm sticking to it. We can do this. Actually, this is pretty much I do most days, now I'm going to be ridged about it.

    Meg I love your post! It's fantastic. I see that you have only 1 more lb to go! Wow, that's rockin that sleeve. I love that your affirmation is "I can choose!" It is all about making choices in our lives. I can eat a small portion, or i can continue eating a larger portion (with the possibility of stretching my sleeve) is what i tell myself. Not always able to make the best choice though. It's always a job. So good to see you on the board! Missed ya!

    I am really glad that your asking for help. I know that you want to be successful in your weight loss and are concerned about having complications such as a leak or something horrible like that. This is the time that you can maximize your weight loss by following your surgeon's directions. My surgeon has us on an all liquid diet for the 1st 3 weeks, 2nd 3 weeks we are on pureed fooods, 3rd 3 weeks we are eating soft foods and after that we are able to eat what ever we want. My surgeon wants and directs us to eat sf stuff, protein first and to get as much water (fluid) in as possible. This is the period of time you would benefit highly by following protocol to increase weight loss. You can do this! We re here to help you as others have helped us.

    I Hate Water!

    Your body is in ketosis because your not able to eat carbs and it has a tendency to make things taste like metal. It will get better in time. I had to result to putting mio drops in my water so I would drink it. I'm 11 months out now and can drink a lot of water at one time. Pretty much normal.

    Hormone Changes From Weight Loss

    I'm 56 and have hot flashes periodically. They come and they go. I am 11 months out also and I eat meat. I'd try to up your chicken and fish so your stomach will get use to digesting solid proteins. I do love my shakes but I find that chicken, fish and beef are easier on the calories and keeps me full longer. Let me know your doing, I'm hoping to maintain with minimum weight loss.

  14. I read that you have 2 children that are under weight and that you have to have junk food in the house. Is your doc telling you that kids are under weight or is that your interpretation bc they are skinny? If the pediatrician saids that there too thin, then whey not give them a healthy snack like a protein drink for kids instead of junk food. Get them eating healthy now so that they don't develop bad eating habits that will cause them a lot of grief in their future. These are just my thoughts and I am not judging you in any way. I wish I would have done this when my children were small. I totally believe in healthy eating habits for life.

    Coops: We all have a lot of lumps and bumps that we hide with our clothing. i really do want to see a bigger pic of you and your friends beautiful dress on! Sexy! I do believe that you will lose more weight. You are very determined and very focused. Your body is just resting for now, and btw, you just got back from a wonderful vacation that was fabulous. I know that when I'm focusing on not losing weight, my food addiction kicks in and before you know it, I'm not eating healthy anymore. I am eating more now and am totally blown away by it. Shocked actually. So now it's time to reign myself back in and focus on today. I would love to meet you someday in person. Actually, I probably will meet you some day. It's a very small world. I've missed you!
  17. Thank you for sharing. After reading these studies, it is always going to be hard work to keep our weight off. It will take focus and conquering our food addictions. we will have to learn coping skills to address or head hunger. In short. We have a baby stomach right now and it will stretch and hold more foods as time goes on. It's good to know this.

    You can have Chinese food later and besides, it won't taste the way that your thinking it will taste. LOL Think of all the $$$ we are saving in not eating all the expensive foods now.

  22. I think we all will be testing ourselves with eating stuff we are not suppose too. I would usually suggest getting the junk out of your house so that your not tempted, but this was just trying a bit of something you will be able to eat further out. If you believe that you have a food addiction, like the majority of us here, then this is the time to get proactive like Butterthebean did. For me this is a life style change and even though that's where I am, I still will have something like pizza once in a while. So now it's time to get back on the band wagon and eat as directed by your doc
  23. When I take my omeprazole 2 times a day, I have less hunger. Mostly i forget to take them and end up hungry and eating more than I want too.

    Hey Coops! I love your sexy dress! Looking good! I second Swizzly's request for a larger pic! I really want to check you out! Sexy! Yep, that's what I said, "Sexy." I have also gotten to a point where I get to 146 lbs and then bounce back up to 151 lbs and then I freak out. I just want to get down to 145 lbs now and be happy. I'm exercising every day by walking think I should start going to the gym again and build muscle up. I believe that our bodies will tell us when we are at a good place. Maye this is just our resting points for the next weight loss!
