Holy Hell?! Why Does It Cost So Much?!
Ms skinniness replied to AStephenson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talk to your PCP and ask if they can help you after surgery. The blood work up is very basic as mentioned before. The cost comes if there's a complication that needs treatment like a leak i would imagine. Very few people have leaks though, but when it happens, it happens. -

Dehydration?
Ms skinniness replied to lessofmeismore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That your dehydrated. Now it's time to drink up with gatorade and water all day long. Get plenty of rest because it could also be heat stroke. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. I learned my lesson the hard way. -

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
Ms skinniness replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm with you on all these. I'm weighing myself one time per week and today I was going to weight in and I totally forgot. I wanted so bad to be one of those that got to goal and kept on losing. But I'm not so I am working on being happy with by body shape now. In fact, if i had my excess skin removed, I'd be past my goal and into the small's. I have veins in my forehead now and I'm not sure that's normal bc I've never seen them before so i will be seeing my PCP really soon. Anyways, thank you so much for your support and sharing your struggles with us. I think most of us are having these struggles and this is our learning curve. -
Longest Week Of My Life
Ms skinniness replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I completely understand not wanting a GBS. But if there's no other option, I would take it for myself. But I would also be seeking other doc's that might possibly do the Sleeve even if I had Barrett's. I like your reframe about finding the Barrett's disease also! You can do this, whether you end up getting the RnY or the sleeve. Hope it's the sleeve. -
Wow Finally A Protein Drink I Like!
Ms skinniness replied to BlueOctoberGirl's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
i have been very fortunate to like Premier Shakes at Costco. i don't think I would be able to get my protein requirements in otherwise. You have done very well with your weight loss! Congrats! I'm also 5'6" and I can't get below 146 on the good days. Now I find myself reverting back to old eating patterns and eating when I'm not hungry. I've got to get a grip. how do you handle these times? -
2 Months Down And 67 Lbs Lost!
Ms skinniness replied to kaeannpark's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have such a beautiful smile! your radiating your joy! Beautiful transformation..... -
My surgeon wants me to take a bite every 10 minutes. I don't practice this but really need to slow down. I am a believer that my sleeve can stretch if pushed too far. There is so much controversial on this topic that I chose to play it safe and work on measuring my portions out. I do slime every now and then just a little.

I love this month! October is my sleeve's 1 year anniversary (Birthday?) as of the 4th. That's just 3 more days. I am totally in love with my body size and striving to keep it here. CONGRATS to all October sleevers!

Getting Ready To Go.
Ms skinniness replied to mztialady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
welcome to your new journey! This is such an awesome transition..... -
Congrats! It's not magic, it's hard work. I remember when my surgeon said to my daughter that this surgery is the hardest thing that I will ever do, she was totally right! It is hard. Learning about all our triggers to foods and wanting to eat but can't. It is hard especially to recognize and make the changes necessary. You have done a great job, so keep it up.....

Need The Voice Of Experience Here... !
Ms skinniness replied to LizInTexas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone else posted this on earlier posting so if you would like u can go to KP.org/misg to bariatrics after surgery and they posted their eating schedule. Eating Plan after Bariatric Surgery These diet instructions are simply guidelines. Please keep in mind that early on some patients will not be able to eat the recommended amounts of food and supplements. A simple rule of thumb is to not eat more than the recommended amounts. If you get full before then, just stop eating. Also, if you have trouble with foods in a particular stage, you can always return to the previous stage. Stage 1 - Clear Liquid (Days 0-3): This will be your first stage after surgery. Hydration is very important. This stage consists of clear, sugar-free, and caffeine-free fluids. During this stage your goal is to drink at least 4-6 ounces of Fluid each hour. A clear liquid Protein, such as Isopure, will be used in this stage. Aim to drink 60-75g of protein in a day. Stage 2 - Full Liquid (Days 4-14): The full liquid phase will use a higher protein meal plan. During this stage you can move from clear Liquid Protein, to Protein shakes such as New Directions, EAS, Premier, etc. Continue to take your protein supplements throughout the day to make sure your body meets its protein needs. Stage 3 - Soft Foods (Days 15-30): During this stage you can start adding soft foods into your diet. The goal is to slowly advance your diet, so you can gradually start eating solid foods. Stage 3 alone will still not supply you with the protein your body needs, therefore you will continue to drink your protein supplements. Stage 4 - Gradually Advancing to Solid Foods (Day 30 and Beyond): Stage 4 includes all of the foods in Stages 1, 2, and 3, plus a wider variety of food options. Additional documents Eating Plan After Bariatric Surgery [PDF] Sample Menus - Stage 3 [PDF] Sample Menus - Stage 4 [PDF] Shopping List - Stage 1 & 2 [PDF] Shopping List - Stage 3 [PDF] Shopping List - Stage 4 [PDF] [/url] Vitamin and Mineral Supplements Sleeve Gastrectomy [PDF] [PDF] Labs Bariatric Post-Operative Laboratory Guidelines [PDF] Pregnancy after Bariatric Surgery Follow these basic guidelines for pregnancy after bariatric surgery. BEFORE you become pregnant: Wait at least 18 months after surgery to become pregnant to ensure healthy fetal development. Birth control pills may not be as effective after surgery. You may want to consider an additional contraceptive method. Inform your OB/GYN doctor about your weight loss surgery. Take an additional 400 mcg folate per day. Take an additional Iron supplement with at least 18 mg iron. Ferrous fumarate may be better tolerated. Baseline labs are needed to determine your nutritional status and to identify any deficiencies. Your care DURING your pregnancy: Tell everyone involved in your care that you had bariatric surgery. Do not take the glucose tolerance test (GTT), a test for gestational diabetes. The test involves drinking 50 grams of glucose, which can lead to dumping syndrome in patients who have had gastric bypass. Better tests are fasting glucose level or 2 hour post prandial (after a meal) glucose level. Your diet DURING your pregnancy: Add 300-500 calories to your recommended 1000-1200 calorie plan by adding 1-2 high protein Snacks during pregnancy (during breastfeeding increase to 2-3 high protein snacks). Continue to eat protein-based meals and snacks. Continue to take your Vitamins and minerals as recommended. Take an additional 400 mcg folate and at least 18 mg iron per day. Limit artificial sweeteners including aspartame (NutraSweet®) and sucralose (Splenda®) and avoid saccharin (Sweet'N Low®) and stevia (Truvia®). ** Caution with Vitamin A: Pregnant women should not exceed 6,000 IU per day. Weight gain DURING pregnancy: If your BMI is greater than 29, aim for a maximum of 15 pounds weight gain. If your BMI is between 25 and 29, then 15 to 25 pound weight gain is appropriate. After bariatric surgery, weight gain standards are different. Discuss your weight gain with your doctor. -

Your stomach just had major surgery and is not healed yet. Most surgeons, including my own, prescribes transition stages for certain foods and texture. my surgeon's office has us on a liquid diet for 3 weeks, soft foods for 3 weeks, pureed foods for 3 weeks and then normal foods. Our stomachs aren't fully healed for at least 6 months. Please be patient. -

Ms skinniness replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Escape_Pod, I am so glad you posted this stuff. I'm finding myself struggling with eating mindfully and savoring the food. It is so automatic at times. I have been slowing down so that is an improvement. But I'm always thinking about food. If I see food, I want to eat it. this is going to be hard work for me, but I am going to do it. I love my skinny body and am so afraid of gaining the weight back. so I am refusing to do this dance with food. -
CHIGGA: Congrats! I does feel really good to not have any complications with the sleeve. I have lost 77 lbs and feel great. the only struggles I have is with my head hunger. LOL This is going to be a life time struggle but I'll take it, just need to change how I see things.
