  1. I decided to tell everyone, or plan to tell everyone. So far everyone has been supportive. I have not had one person say anything negative. Even if anyone had or does in the future I really don't give a damn quite frankly! I will just say politely " we can agree to disagree" and leave it at that! But seriously the positive and support people have been the best!!

  3. I've decided to be open about it. If they don't like it then we can agree to disagree. So far I have not had any negative comments. Friends on FB have been very positive and supportive. <3

    Crazy Vsg Questions

Yes I've thought if only I could continue to eat and exercise I could lose this weight. But life throws curve balls and I love food and the social part that goes with eating food and for over 20 years I've not been able to stay on track other than to continue to gain and grow larger! This surgery is a tool to remind you physically you cannot eat with your eyes anymore.
  6. June 1 is my last appointment for my 6 months supervised weight loss. I've lost 30 pounds but I have not been as strick these last couple of months. I've been feeling like really enjoying these last weeks of endulging in food before I am sleeved! I'm am super excited to be at this point and just want to have my sleeve and lose all this weight!!! I wished I knew my surgery date already!! My current weight is 283 and I am 6'0" I would like to get down to 170. Come on sleeve!!!!

    How Quick Did You Heal?

I do have a blood cloting disorder called Factor 2. A couple years ago I developed a blood clot in my right arm. Had to give myself blood thinning shots in my stomach for 10 days. So I am going to ask about needing the lovenox shots.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

I haven't got a set date yet but I asked the scheduler at my Dr office and she said realistically August 6 or 8 is the dates I am looking at! I should know by this coming Wednesday. I had my pre op appt July 12, no pre op diet is required. Had to have a sleep study (7/10/12) and EKG and chest X-ray (7/12/12). I started this process back in Oct 2011. I am just ready to be sleeved and be skinny again!!! In HIgh School I was athletic. I am 6'0 tall, back then I was 180 lbs. My highest weight that I've weight in at was 317. My pre op appt I was 290.

    July Sleevers?

I don't have a surgery date yet but I had my pre op appointment July 12. I'm waiting for the scheduling lady to call me as soon as they have received my results of my sleep study which I did July 10, and my chest X-ray and EKG that I did July 12. My Dr does not require a pre op diet thank GOD! So I'm excited and just want to be sleeved already!!! My question to everyone is how much time are you taking off from work to have surgery???

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

I'm not sure yet when my surgery date is. My Pre Op appointment is July 12, so my surgery may very well be the first week of August.

That's great to hear! I recently took a case management position so at least I know I won't have to be lifting or rolling anyone!

Oh yes I had to have the 6 month supervised diet. I completed that June 1, 2012. I also had the psych consult, nutritionist consult. I started the process October or November 2011. I'm finally close!! Yippie!!!

    How Quick Did You Heal?

I have also been wanting to find out from those that have had the sleeve how long were you off from work? I don't want to miss a lot of time from work. I'd like to have my surgery on a Thursday or Friday and be able to return to work on Monday. Is that realistic?
  17. I have my pre op appointment July 12. I have BCBS of Alabama. I'm not sure yet what I will have to pay for out of pocket. But this year I signed up for the flex card for $2000. I've used it for my payments for my supervised weight loss, mine and my hubby's RX, and his glasses. I need to check and see how much I have left on it. I hope just enough to cover whatever I will owe out of pocket for my surgery!
  18. I'm down 30 pounds. I have a little over a month to complete my 6 month supervised weight loss before my dr can resubmit for surgery. I get so excited to see and hear others stories. I just want to get to that point! Today 4-19-12

    Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead!

Joe Cross from Australia made a documentary on his weight loss by coming to the states and fasting with only drinking fresh made juice for 60 days! It's amazing and everyone in here NEEDS to watch this! He is also on FACEBOOK. I just watched it last night and I'm excited to give it a try!

    Never Too Late

It is great to hear everyones stories! I am 39, will be 40 in June. I never consider WLS until my employer sent out an email saying it was now covered in our plan! I made my first appointment Nov 1, 2011 and weight in at 307! I am 6'0 tall and in high school I was 180. I have to have 6 months of supervised weight loss which I started the second week of December. I am now down to 278! I probably won't be able to have surgery until June (my big 40th birthday present to myself!) I am so excited and feeling so much better already! Friends tell me " your doing so good you may not even surgery!" I still do because I know my track record and it is too easy to put the weight back on!! I just hope that I can convince my husband to follow!
