Unjury Chicken Soup And Cheese Flavor
NJsharon replied to jeffmanion's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I love the Unjury chicken soup! But yes, it is high in sodium, so just drink it in moderation. Haven't tried the cheese flavor sauce stuff yet though. -

Ive Never Had Any Type Oc Surgery
NJsharon replied to Amytequilahouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, you are completely naked when you go in... no bra, no underwear. I think if you have your monthly visitor then people said to ask them & they may give you paper underwear, or maybe a tampon is okay? -
I have the Bariatric Advantage raspberry flavor chewy bites. I like them! They have 250mg per bite, so try to have 3 per day.
-
yes, I had some drops of about 3lbs overnight too! Also gained 1lb at 10days post op, so don't freak out if that happens either!

50 Lbs Down...before And After
NJsharon replied to fell4falls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You look awesome!!! Way to go! -
The hospital I was in gave me compression stockings, that came up, almost to the top of my legs. I wore them for about 4 days & on my flight home. Then took them off.

Getting Post Op Stuff Together
NJsharon replied to mome2mad's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love the Chike shakes. Personally they are my favorites & we need extra calories, so they are not bad for us! Oh & unjury chicken Soup. Love that too. -
Can you cut them? That was easiest for me at first. I just cut them into 2 or even 4, then swallowed them, one piece at a time, with a sip of Water. Now I am able to swallow them with a small gulp of water & I don't get any gas or stomach pain from that (I am 11 days post op). Some Drs also allow you crush your pills & add them to a teensy amount of apple sauce. But you would need to check with your specific Dr about that.

Congrats, that is a real honor & very cool too! Good luck for that too, I would be nervous!

I did not have Dr Ortiz, I had Dr Kelly. But thought I would weigh in on the post-op care. Make sure your PCP is on board with doing your bloodwork afterwards for you. I spoke to my PCP & she blatantly refused to treat me if I went to Mexico! So I ended up having to change PCPs & very glad now I did. I like my new Dr a lot. She will be doing all my bloodwork & will check me over at the same time.

No "pre-Diet" For Me!
NJsharon replied to gallogirl99's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is great, you are lucky you have no pre-op diet. I think that is the hardest thing I had to do so far! Continued good luck with your journey! -
Why did you have to wrap in saran wrap? Do you have a drain still? Just interested as I was told to take a shower every day & let the water go on my incisions, then pat them dry gently.

NJsharon replied to lmitchell40*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cool, I am post-op, but will watch this. I didn't want to watch anything pre-op, but now it is over, I am interested to see it! -
Got you Stacey, added you to the group! I may even workout a little this evening. Just the elliptical for 10-20 mins, see how long I can do it. I will take it slow & easy, but want to start some exercise.

Afraid I Won't Tolerate The Foods I Like Now After Surgery
NJsharon replied to carriecat's topic in Food and Nutrition
I just wanted to reassure you that my taste buds stayed the same! I am only 11 days post-op so have only been adding the Protein shakes so far. Was worried my taste buds would change & I wouldn't like them. But still like them just as much as pre-op! So it does vary by person, but doesn't necessarily mean your taste buds will change! -
My post-op recovery has been fantastic. Can't complain at all. I have had no pain meds since I left the hospital, no gas, just smooth sailing really. Just started adding in protein drinks yesterday, so that is my little bit of excitement right now! LOL

Just a plug for our May 2012 Sleevers 'secret' facebook group! We are 35 members strong now & going great! If you were or are going to be sleeved in May then just friend me on Facebook & I will add you to the secret group. Search for Sharon Ivanauskas. It is a 'secret' group, which means nobody can see the group, nobody can see who is in the group & nobody can see our posts! I know some people haven't told everyone on facebook, so that is why I made the group secret.

My deciding factor was that I knew I could not do it alone. Even if I did lose the weight, I knew it would slowly creep up & come back on again! I had my surgery may 10th & let me tell you, it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Wish I did it earlier!

Less Need For Antidepressant In Post-Ops?
NJsharon replied to K33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took anti-depressants pre-op & still take the same doses post-op. To be honest I am scared to come off them or change any dosage. It works, so not going to mess with it! -
That is awesome!!! Congrats! You go girl!!

How Long Till You Were Able To Sleep In A Bed..
NJsharon replied to Shilo30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no problem sleeping in my own bed, or actually the hotel bed, 2 days post-op. I had no drain though. I am a side sleeper & was able to sleep on my left side or my right side, no problem. Maybe once the drain is out & healed you will feel better? -
