    Im A May Sleever!

Never realized May 10th was Mexican mothers day! How cool for me to have my surgery that day in MX then! My mothers day gift to myself, a new start on life.

    Getting Sleeved Today

Congratulations and best of luck for a speedy recovery! Cannot wait to hear about your experience afterwards!

    Im A May Sleever!

I was thinking of doing that. I did buy a big ol' sippy cup. It is like 64oz, as I have to drink at least 3.5 liters a day of liquid for my pre-op 3 day liquid diet. But for post-op it may be useful to have the tiny medicine cup to sip from!

    Im A May Sleever!

Waving "hi" to leesakake! I too am having my surgery May 10th, but with Dr Kelly in Mexico. I am a little nervous, but more excited to just get this done now! I will have 2 days in the hospital, then 2 days in a hotel by the hospital. I bought some sample packs from stores online so I can try some different Protein shakes & see what I like. Also bought a 24 pack of Gatorade G2. Bought my Gas-X strips (that I will give some to you Lisa!), a heat pad & a new nightgown (moo moo style! LOL). I will start my 2 week pre-op diet on April 27th too... eating healthy, low sugar, low sodium, small portions etc. Then 3 days before I do liquid only diet.
  5. I am getting sleeved on May 10th in MX & wondering what I should take to wear on the way home? I was thinking originally a very loose pair of sweatpants. But thinking now as it is MX I will be baking hot??! Can I wear capri jeans or will that be too rough on my incisions? They are the only capris I have. Oh & don't own a sundress & hate the way I look in a dress right now so not really wanting to get one! So ideas please!
  6. Thank you everyone for the input, really appreciate it! I am also trying to just bring a carry on, to make it easier on me not having to haul a suitcase around. So will probably try to find a pair of yoga pants from Walmart, take my sweat pants (they are just sooooo comfy) & a couple of t-shirts. Maybe a jacket to wear on the way too, in case it is cooler. Thank you all!

    What To Tell My Children?

I have twin girls that turn 7 in May. I told them that Mommy was going to have 'tummy surgery' so that she can lose some weight & get to a normal weight again. Explained I will be flying to Mexico to get it done & that I would be able to play more with them when I lose weight as I will have more energy. Well that freaked them both out! I think they were scared I would come back looking like a totally new person! So then I explained that mommy will still look the same when she comes back, just have some scars on her tummy. But don't worry, it will take a while for mommy to lose the weight. I think now they are more comfortable with it.

    Take A Before Photo Now!

Yep, as much as I hate it, I got my hubby to take a photo of me in a bathing suit last week! Yikes! But will be good to look back on!

9 months post op as of 4/14/12!! I'm amazed!!

    Looking great!!!
  10. I will say that both appear to be good doctors & whichever one you go with I think you will be in safe hands! However I chose to go with Dr Kelly just because he has more experience.
  11. Yep, I bought mine on Priceline too & paid the extra $16. It covers you if there is a medical complication. I highly doubt anything will happen to me, but better to be safe than sorry.
  12. I also thought it was the worst night sleep too! I couldn't sleep with the things in my nose & having to pull the wires every time I turned over (I toss & turn a lot!). Twice the nose thing came loose or wires came loose & they had to come in & adjust them again. It wasn't bad getting the sticky stuff out of my hair though, that was no big deal at all. I didn't have any apnea, but had something where I wake several times every hour & they had no idea why! Great, probably why I am tired all the time then!

How Longs Is Your Pre-Op Diet?

2 weeks of healthy food (low fat, small portions, cut out sugar, low sodium etc) 3 days before liquid only diet. Nothing after midnight the night before surgery.

    Starting Pre-Op Diet

Thanks for the tips to those that posted about what to eat for pre-op. I start my pre-op 2 week diet on April 27th & was wondering what I should be eating.
  15. I have heard you can drive again once you are off the pain meds, so people posted that was normally after about 1 week! Congrats on getting a surgery date, I am May 10th, so just before you!
  16. Thanks for the great story! I am due to be sleeved on May 10th by Dr Kelly & sometimes rethink my decision to be sleeved. But it is when I read stories like yours that I know it is all worth it!

    2 Year Anniversary

That is really great & very inspiring! I look forward to going to the gym & being able to work out. Right now I am too embarrassed with the size I am to go work out.
  18. You look amazing!!!!! The before & after pics are so inspring for me! I have just begun on my Weight Loss Journey as I get sleeved on May 10th. I would love it to look half as good as you at a year out!

You look totally great! I agree with the others that it is hard to believe you are half-way there... you look amazing right now!

  22. You look fantastic girlfriend! Wow, I hope I look half as good a year out after my surgery (getting sleeved May 10th)!!
  23. Wow, what a transformation.... you are rockin it & look amazing!
  24. I am a huge scrapbooker & cardmaker too! I have already taken a photo of me pre-op in my bathing suit (yikes!), so that I can scrapbook my journey. But journalling your feelings is a great idea too, I hadn't thought of that! I also find paper crafting to be really enjoyable & stress-relieving!
