    Any May Sleevers Yet?

Yep, gave up the coffee & my diet soda (coke zero to be specific) habit already. So proud of myself for that. Been about 5 weeks now! Just drink Water with very occasional Gatorade G2 or milk. But mainly water. Have to work on the sipping thing though, I know I will need to do that post-op!
  2. It will cost $200 total. Will have to go in for 2 treatments I was told & they do a cleaning too.

    Any May Sleevers Yet?

You know the only thing I am nervous about? That it will be hard to sip liquids without gulping them! I am so used to gulping down Water I tried sipping it is hard for me & very tiresome! LOL Also worried how I will take my pills post-op as I gulp water to get them down & don't think they will taste good crushed up in a drink! I bought Vitamins that are chewable, but still have pills for mental health issues that I cannot get chewable or in liquid form! I am sure it will all fall into place afterwards though & just become 2nd nature. But right now, it is those little things I am worrying about!
  4. Good luck to you, I hope you can get that band out soon... before you have to resort to the letter opener! LOL Seriously, hope it all works out & soon for you too!
  5. Thanks I sent her a PM to ask about her experience. I am also using Dr Kelly, so would think it was the same dentist.
  6. I am pre-op, but looking to buy a Water bottle or cup for post-op. I have a huge 64oz bottle with a sports style top. Figure that is good for getting in my H2O for pre-op. But post-op I was wondering if the water would come out too fast with a sports top making me gulp instead of sip? So do you have any recommendations for a good water bottle or cup to have for on the go? Please include make/brand so I can search for them online too! Thanks in advance!

    Any May Sleevers Yet?

How is everyone doing? I am getting excited now. Kind of wish it was next week I was having surgery instead of May 10th. Time seems to be going slowly. Just can't wait to move on with this new chapter of my life! Bought some chicken stock today & some cream Soups for pre-op & post-op.
  10. Good question, will be interested to hear the answer! I would think it would as it is Water or milk, so it is liquid. But really unsure!
  11. Well done to you!!!!! That is awesome, congratulations & have a fab time!

    Blisters

I don't think that is normal, but not sure. If I had any questions I would go see my primary care physician & get her to take a look at it though.
  14. Here were a couple of questions I asked my Dr... What size bougie does he use? Do you use staples, stitches or both? How long will I be in the hospital? If self-pay do they do financing? I asked a bunch of other questions, but cannot think of them all right now! Good luck!

    Pre Op Milk Diet Yack!

Never heard of a milk diet pre-op, that is strange & different! I think I would go crazy doing that for a week! My 2 week diet consists of just eating healthier... small portion sizes, low sodium, low sugar. Think I will do a Protein shake for Breakfast & lunch & a small sensible meal for dinner. Then 3 days pre-op I can have Water, tea, fruit juice drinks, chicken stock, vegetables, cream Soups, skim milk, yoghurt, Jello (or jelly to you!), mashed fruits, cereals (oatmeal, rice, potato, noodles, mixed). Sounds like mine is so much more doable than yours! I feel for you... but you can do it!!!!
  16. Suzanne, that is fabulous to hear! So happy for you! Congratulations on your weight loss & continued success to you!
  17. Not sure where you live, but I am going to Mexico from the East Coast (new jersey). So quite a trip for me. I am not worried about the trip home. I will just get up & walk around a bit on the plane & will let the staff know I have just had surgery. I also plan to see if I can upgrade to business class for the trip home, just to give me a bit of extra room. My surgery if I had it here in NJ would have been $24,850. I simply couldn't afford that. So I am going with Dr Kelly in Mexico & it is costing $5500, plus airfare (which is about $500). That includes everything you need there.

    Giving Up! Omg

Man, I was a diet coke (coke zero to be exact) addict! I would drink about 6 cans a day, plus about 3-4 mugs of caffeinated coffee! But then I had tonsillectomy & uvullectomy on March 14th & had to stop caffeine for that. Well haven't gone back to it & so proud of myself! I just drink pure Water now, occasional milk, but really just water & it tastes good! So just to let you know you can do it & water will taste good to you one day!

    The Date Is Set!

Wahoo, that is my date too! But I am heading to Mexico with Dr Kelly. Feel free to PM me or you can friend me on facebook (if you are on there?), my name is Sharon Ivanauskas. Maybe we can keep in touch & let each other know how we are doing?! I start my 2 week pre-op diet on April 27th... just eating healthier meals, smaller portions, low sugar, low sodium etc. I am planning to do a Protein shake in the morning, lunch & small meal at dinner. Then I have liquids only for 3 days pre-op (Water, tea, cream Soups, chicken stock, yoghurt, Jello, pureed foods). Only tips are to try to quit sodas & caffeine now, if you can. Also buy some Gas-X strips if you haven't already. Hear they help with the gas afterwards. I also bought a heating pad, as I heard that is nice to have after surgery too. I am a tiny bit nervous about the actual surgery, but more excited to start my new life!
  22. Have you tried decaf coffee? I was a regular coffee drinker, drank about 3-4 mugs a day of caffeinated coffee. Then just went cold turkey & been about 5 weeks now & doing great! So haven't felt the need for coffee, but heard decaf coffee is okay if you needed that coffee fix!
  23. Are you on mushy food yet? If so then make sure you have food & then take them. I know when I take my Vitamin D I am very nauseous if I don't eat some food first. Not sure that is the answer though, but worth a try?
  24. You look fantastic, well done to you!
  25. Good luck, but I would make sure you are definitely covered before you do all the other appts. Otherwise they can be costly! I found out I was not covered, so I am heading to Mexico. They have some skilled Drs there & it is so much cheaper. I will keep my fingers crossed for you too though! I hope you are covered!
