To Those Of You Who Say You Don't Have Time For Exercise...
Violet953 posted a topic in Fitness & Exercise
To those of you who say you don't have time for exercise or you don't like to...I'm sorry but to me all I hear is excuses excuses. Yeah you may have a busy lifestyle but after getting the lapband put into your body to make a "lifestyle change" how can you do that without getting some exercise in? What is an hour out of your entire day? You have 23 hours to do everything else you need to do..and if you know you will tone your body and loose even more weight from it why wouldn't you take advantage of that? I think you guys need to step it up and quit making so many excuses...I have a life too...a job, family, boyfriend, pets, house to take care of, appts to go to in between everything else..and every single night I come home and get my exercise in. I have lymophdema in my legs and as much as it hurts to be on my feet and my ankles are so big it looks unhuman but I do not miss it...because I didn't get this lap band put in me to just sit back and watch the weight fall off...I'm working my ass off and don't understand why you can't either!!! Do you want to end up like the people on here who are making a post in 1 or 2 years saying they only lost 30 pounds? If not, you need to make the change now...and if you don't want to..then I really don't understand why you got the band in the first place. -

That is the issue I have too! Esp. with jumping jacks those are the worst....my boobs just bounce really hard and it hurts! What do you guys do to make it easier? -
Hey girl That is so awesome! Recently I started making my workouts more intense by starting insanity and using five pound weights instead of three. I want to tone my body so bad. Have you noticed that this is toning your body?

Brad- Congrats! It will only get better and better. I have pretty much lost the same amount myself so far! Isn't it amazing? =) I am soo happy and love to exercise and move as much as I can. I totally agree with you on not weighing until you get to the docs...I do the same...your weight goes up and down like crazy..so its not accurate to be weighing every single day...maybe every week if you wanted to...but if you wait, then you are shocked by the time you see the doctor again...I had lost 22 pounds last month! They were shocked! LoL. Well good luck on the rest...keep on going! =)

I was frustrated at first because I lost 10 pounds immediately after surgery, but it was only because of the fluid in my legs going down...as soon as I started eating I gained it back...and it took a while, it was very annoying before I started loosing anything again. But one tip I can give you is to stop weighing yourself...I made that mistake...and learned its okay to weigh yourself once a week or something, but if you can try to just wait till you get to the doctors! I've had 2 fills and this last time I went in, they wouldn't give me one because I had lost 22 pounds in one month! It was due to stress also though...been going through a lot lately. But still, very exciting! You will get there too. I honestly can eat probably 2 cups of food if I wanted to (usually don't ) but I'm still loosing like crazy. I also exercise like crazy too. Since surgery, (Feb. 8th 2012) I have lost 35 pounds. Before surgery I lost 30 on my own so so far its 65!!!!!!!! -
My ankles look unhuman. I was diagnosed with Lymphodema a couple of years ago and I can't stand it...all they did was prescribe me compression stockings...which worked at first and they went down significantly...but now they aren't working as much even though I wear them every single day and sometimes at night! I looked up people with this disease on google images and saw some really awful stuff...people with wayyy worse cases then mine...So I can only imagine how much pain they are in...because I am hurting! And not to mention this extra Water weight I want GONE. Just to let you know what I'm dealing with here...I'm going to measure them to let you know how huge they are right now. This is after being on my feet for 9 hours, too. My left ankle is the worst one and is 18 inches...the right is 17 inches. Its disgusting! They really should be about 12 inches or less to give you an idea of how much bigger they are. Now, when I had surgery, I'm sure many of you also had those compression things on your legs to help with your circulation...well these were awesome for me...it was like a treatment because up until the week after surgery they were beautiful, completely un-swollen! And I lost 12 pounds from it! Once I was back on my feet, and my ankles blew back up again, I gained it right back. It was really upsetting. The doctor also told me that I should be prepared because even after I loose all of the weight, I may still have this condition...but they say that a lot..for my sleep apnea too. I really hope not...but I am going to call my doctor first thing tomorrow morning because I can't take this anymore I want those things that they put on me at surgery! What were those called? I called this one place who had something similar and they didn't take my insurance...I have Medicaid. So does anybody have this condition and Medicaid? I need to know what I can get covered for this ..I looked it up online too and I'm finding all kinds of stuff but who knows if they take my insurance. It looks pricey. I also would love massage therapy for it. Ugh I can't wait to talk to my doctor about this! I decided to take a couple of pictures to show you what it looks like. HERE GOES: God I look like my legs are stubs amputated off my feet!

I live in Connecticut and have Medicaid and mine are covered. Not sure for how long though because I heard after a certain amount of time they do not cover them anymore.....Guess I will find out!

I really don't understand what is with everybody's friends! My best friends are totally opposite, one is skinny as hell and always has been, and the other is a bigger girl and always has been. Neither has given me any kind of jealousy signs or anything...in fact they both tell me how proud of me they are...esp. the bigger friend! Its really sad how these people are treating you for simply bettering your lives, and if I were you I'd be telling them whats up and if they didn't like it you'll find someone who does...because lets face it ladies and gentleman we don't need ppl like this in our lives right now...we need supportive people who actually care. Not get jealous cuz they look worse than you do now. I remember when my Mom lost all her weight, I was bigger than her! It kinda sucked but do you think I said gee mom I can't go out with you in public anymore cuz I'm fatter than you now. No! I dealt with it, and eventually took care of myself on my own time. I would never take that new exciting feeling away from her...because really that's what these people are doing..trying to break you down and make you cave and be unhappy again. Don't let them do it to you.

Hey Jamie! This is pretty funny cuz I live near the Storrs area as well. I actually went to Dr. Tousignant in Norwich and had my surgery at Backus Hospital and it went amazingly. If you ever want to talk let me know. I'm 24 and am sooo happy I made this decision. I've lost about 60 pounds I think so far and I had my surgery in Feb. of this year.

How do you get plastic surgery covered like that? Don't you need to it to be medically necessary for them to cover it?

Its normal from the painkillers to get really constipated....my doc told me to take Milk of Magnesia....you will probably not be able to go number 2 for some time...but its normal so don't worry. -
Nice...I have 4.5cc's in mine and I love broccoli also...all veggies really..I don't feel like I have much restriction yet after two fills...but I feel I might be getting there. I can only eat the tops of the broccoli though...I had a bit of an issue with the stalks. Fine with me though- at least I can still eat the good part! That is awesome though...how much have you lost so far?

nobody knows??? I like to use color fonts when I post

Girl...a great beginning workout is Walk Away The Pounds with Leslie Sansone...But I just tried Hip Hop Abs with Shaun T (the guy who does Insanity) and it was AWESOME! I don't like dancing...but this was more like a slight dance workout...it was actually really great and you work up a great sweat ..goes by real fast too...the first one I did was 30 mins long. That along with a nice fast walk outside with weights at some point really would be great for you. I like to just go out and do it for as long as I possibly can...I love to go real far in the woods (I live in a state forest) Its absolutely beautiful out there. I used to never exercise either but I just love it so much now...I love being active...makes me feel like a whole new person!

Help, I Think My Hair Is Falling Out!
Violet953 replied to sherrypep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually use shampoo with keratin in it...(it has Protein for your hair in it) and I love it...Bought it at Sally Beauty supply its by Miracle 7..but you can find plenty of other brands that have it in it ...something cheaper is the new Suave with keratin that you can find anywhere...haven't had any issues at all with hair loss but we will see...because I was only banded a couple of months ago. I have veryy thick hair though so if a little wants to come out hey that's fine as long as its not all of it...I eat plenty of protein also. -
I was thinking the same thing as Cazzy... I exercise everyday between 20 mins to an hour or more. I mix it up between exercise vids and fast walking outside with the dogs. The best thing for you to do is mix it up as much as you can...and try to increase to it to like 4-6 days a week, 45 mins a day. I bet you would start seeing results in no time...I know I did...esp. once I started switching it up, its better to change your workouts so your muscles don't get used to the same thing over and over...that's why I stopped loosin for a time and as soon as I started a new workout I was loosing again...I lost 10 pounds!
